If you're gonna run into anybody on an exploration, there's nobody better than Bobby. He was probably just as surprised as you were to come face to face, and it was great that he showed you around.
I was in this prison several times. Our church would do a service for the inmates, and I sang in the chior as a teenager. Where we stood to sing was right in front of the gallows where some of the sentences were carried out. What an experience for a teenager to have!
This was an excellent exploration. So much history. I loved how Bobby shared so much to better understand the prisoner's lives. The references to bands from the 1960's and 1970's show music was a major part of the prisoner's lives. Again, thank you for sharing this with us.
I liked that you showed your hand shaking after your encounter. I know that feeling, when you are alone one second, and face to face with a stranger the next, in a place where help is not close by. Great job man!
This channel is more than a series of documentaries. It's a whole experience. The way you put it all together. It's fine art. The stories, the observations, the poetic annotations, it's truly beautiful work.

The musical transition at around 0:57 is extremely well-done and effective. The bluegrass-style banjo plucking that opens this video rather suddenly gives way to a somber and almost menacing background track, creating a very unsettling tone as the viewer is introduced to the building's decaying interior. A masterstroke of presentation.
I appreciate your appreciation for the details ! I try and showcase the feeling of these places, both historical, dark and ethereal with the decay. Thanks for the comment !

Loved this explore showing a side of reality not shown as much. Can understand why bobby goes there probably where he's more at home. People who often spend long time in prison become institutionalized where it's there life the routine is there norm so can be hard to cope outside where there life is not controlled they have to control so they will often end back in. Bobby has a way to go back when he needs to cope to be where he feels at home without getting in trouble and it's his choice to leave like halfway in both worlds. Hopefully will help to being him back to life out on his terms when he's ready
All the words on the Jimi Hendrix cell are Musicians and band names, @41:41. Earth wind & fire were a soul group. I see Diana Ross, - The Surpremes, - Bobby Womack, - Donna Summer, - KC & The sunshine band, - The Bee Gees, - Sting, - Prince, - The commodores, - Herbie Hancock, - 4 Tops, - Temptations, & many many more from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s The dude probably wrote all his favourite musicians on the wall so he could imagine their songs in his head while doing his time. Kinda cool, really. 😎
I stumbled across this place driving around York and taking a wrong turn a few years ago. Always wanted to go in, but had my kids in the car : ) Thanks for the tour!

Good old old York county prison. First place I ever smoked Mary Jane and first place I ever had a Budweiser. In the very top it is said that that is the gallows not sure but great old building. I used to live right down the street on York st but the houses have since been torn down
Really great videography! You absolutely have the eye for shot composition, and nailed it with the local! Broken Window Theory could not have done better!
At the beginning of the video it looks like a lot like fire damage. That’s why everything looks like it’s decaying so bad. I’m sure there has been many fires there since this building was abandoned. Thanks for sharing what a great video nice job 👍
I think the light switch sticker was the characters Snap, Crackle and Pop from rice crispies cereal. Pretty cool place. Seems like they had good sized widows back then, it least the prisoners would have something to look at besides four walls, floor and ceiling.

Not necessarily dangerous, but really uncomfortable and unsure of how they could react.

Those double cells are actually a bit bigger than some that are used these days. And those "walkways" weren't for guards to walk down. They were also used as exercise walks. Some prisoners get a 30 minute or so walk time outside their cells each day . Sometimes it might just be 15 minutes. And that's pretty much all the exercise some were allowed
