They didn’t rebrand the full company, they’re using the alphatheta name as a way to test out new out there products
Cdjs and other club gear will stay as pioneerdj.
Alphatheta dj stuff is going to be their way of testing out new ideas and things.
Pioneer dj has built its brand as being consistent and solid, and not innovative.

It’s a niche mixer for a very specific subset of djs. The price reflects that and pretty fair considering other things an audiophile/vinyl purists have on hand. Not sure why so many comments are confused about this. It’s impressive and the layout looks intuitive and ergonomic, but it’s not going to be found as a permanent fixture in clubs. It will be found in some home studios.

$3,799 and they still make you buy a separate license to use it with Serato. The company owns both Rekordbox and Serato, really? You would think at this point, since they own both software titles that any Pioneer DJ / Alpha Theta hardware would just would on both without additional licenses.
Edit: Well not anymore, since the acquisition was denied by New Zealand Commerce Commission.

It's starting to feel like AlphaTheta is the brand they're using to experiment with different types of products. Pioneer DJ is the club standard so they can't mess with it too much... every change will be heavily scrutinized.
With this new brand they're avoiding "Pioneer DJ introduces first rotary mixer"... I suspect the DJMs will stay under the Pioneer DJ brand for years to come, but the new and different stuff will be AlphaTheta

Warning to everyone buying and a question for alphatheta; Crossfader; will this mixer have post fader serato effects?
This was a big issue that was never resolved with the Rane mp 2015. As soon as you turned the rotary down, off, cut the volume there was no echo, reverb, no tail on the effect. It was instant off. Rane blamed Serato; Serato blamed Rane and it was never addressed. This was not the case with Traktor so it wasn’t a hardware issue.
Please demand Alphatheta Serato and anyone reviewing to be clear and go on record before you buy the mixer to use with Serato.
Crissfader, will you please clarify if this mixer will have post fader serato effects when used with Serato Software?

This is the mixer I've been waiting years for. Unfortunately waaaay too expensive for the features and minus one key feature I want, which I will get into in a sec, but still this is a dream come true for me in many ways.
It's 2024, so why can't you get a hybrid analogue-digital mixer with a soundcard, support for Serato (for me at least), rotaries on channels, and on-board effects. You would be forgiven for thinking we have seen several such products by now. Yes you have products from Allen & Heath like the Xone 96 that almost got there, but unfortunately without Serato support (maybe this was the reason....hmmmm).
Nope. Apparently nobody dared to. It took Alpha-Theta, of all the potential candidates that you would have expected, to address this gap in the market. In fact, considering Alpha-Theta, or rather Pioneer DJ to date, have been playing it safe for so long on the innovation front, I'm actually surprised they actually spent the R&D money on such a product.
However, the one thing I personally really wanted in such a product, one which I've wanted to see on all rotaries and only a small handful have managed to implement, is still missing. And that is a crossfader.
Not necessarily for scratching, although that's cool too, but because using a crossfader is an ideal way to cut one or more channels off very quickly, especially if you are doing a 3 or even 4 channel mix, and do so immediately,. On some older mixers you had something like a kill switch or transformer from some of the older scratch mixers. Of course you could also use the source switch, but some of them introduce an audible click or there may be other issues going that route.
Anyway, nice review. Personally not a fan of Pioneer DJ / Alpha-Theta, but this is a super-cool product and I like the direction Alpha-Theta have been going more recently, especially in the visual design aspect in products such as this one and the Omnis ones. Shame about the continued exorbitant prices though.

Whatever this company is smoking please stop your going to not make money with overpriced built in china equipment. There is very little market for this product. 4000.00 Your outta your mind.I own a native instrument sound card it’s the best sounding usb I have ever had and I played music from my laptop into a 20,000 dollar sound system. We used to have a saying "Talking about sound is like tap dancing about architecture." Your sound quality section did not include an audition of the product at all. It is not hard to show the sound quality. Do an AB with other mixers and render the video with Prores 422, that will be enough to get a feel. The amount of videos of endless talking about the mixer, I just want to hear it!!!

Rane mp 2015 has digital ins
And the Rane mp 2015 has the best isolator till this day (with two crossover points that you can control) which is modeled after the Richard long isolator that was recreated by Rane at the request of Richard long.
This is no doubt a fantastic mixer but Rane has some technology in the Mp 2015 that remains unrivaled

@@DT1One I stand corrected. Forgot about the Rane SPDIFs .. They make great mixers for sure and have done so for many many years, I doubt however Richard Long made too many suggestions on the Rane 2015 - he's been dead since 1986. On that note have a listen to the Euphonia, truly a great sounding mixer even if the price is outrageous.

      Really?
Youre going to come at me like that?
Re-read what I wrote. “Modeled after the Richard long isolator that was recreated by Rane at the request of Richard long.”
I don’t understand how you translated that to mean that I was referring to Richard long requesting in 2015 or present tense.
To be clear Richard Long created his own isolator/crossover (the rla 3000) he later requested Rane redesign it which they did and they were branded as Rane x3000 crossovers and weren’t commercially available. He later requested they design a dj mixer and the mp 24 was created.
In regards to the 2015 they took the concept of the 3000 crossover that they designed when creating the isolator for the mp 2015. Check out the full compass 2015 TH-cam video; it’s mentioned there (concept of the 3000 crossover)

Guys, for the past three days, we've been inundated with praise from top experts extolling the unique qualities of this product. Allow me to counter this overwhelming wave of words by presenting three reasons why I choose not to purchase this item: 1) There's nothing I can accomplish with a rotary mixer that I can't achieve with a fader mixer. Conversely, many functions available on a fader mixer are absent on a rotary mixer. 2) If I aim to enjoy music without digital interference, I should opt for a purely analog mixer, such as an Allen&Heath, a Formula Sound, or an Ecler. However, this product isn't purely analog. 3) It's risky to purchase a product as soon as it's released. Statistically, products tend to become more reliable after being on the market for some time. This is a general rule of thumb that has never failed me. Good luck!

I like it. I'd love to play some nice House records on this. Also, it's the first time that the reverb effect on AT/Pioneer stuff doesn't sound like a big metal oil drum in my opinion (on my XDJ-RX it does, but that's a bit of a different league). It also shows what digital can do if it's done right. It just looks fun to mix on, while sounding amazing. Especially with the brilliant filters and effects, enabling you to create a special atmosphere. The price is rather high though, but definitely affordable for enthusiasts or clubs who can and want to pay for it. I'd be looking forward to playing on it if I was booked for a club that has one of these. Also, nice choons you used in your demo !
