Hey, I'm the girl who confronted the fake violinist! I'm a super non-confrontational person and I don't get angry easily, but seeing that guy made me feel like I had to say something as a violinist. And the funniest thing is, I actually have severe social anxiety disorder, but somehow I had the guts to talk to that guy (though I definitely wouldn't have been able to without my mom there LOL)

I think it's scummy to do it in real life, but on film and TV it's not "fake artistry" - it's acting. The person who actually played the piece will have been paid and known what it was going to be used for (they may also be paid to advise the actor and/or act as a body double for some scenes). Plus the audience knows that some of what they're seeing isn't real so it's on them if they assume the actor can really play like that, whereas if you see someone performing on the street it's reasonable to assume they actually are playing.

Liszt described the Alkan composition as “ impossible to play “ .
I watched a video by ‘Erolon ‘ of ‘Le Preux’ which was an animated keyboard and a pianola-type roll scrolling down completely synced to the keys played on the keyboard . There must be a proper name or app for what I was watching but it gave another angle to the piece and a change from reading the sheet music .

Brettina.. was so pretty, I wish we can be friends (is it me or Eddy seems so disturbed by a possibe female Brett).. I am so proud of myself for knowing quite a number of those composers and I am also educated with the new names. I've always liked Russian composers' style and I am loving Scriabin! Thanks, TwoSet and TwoSetters~!

And regardless of how it's used, it's still incorrect, Asia doesn't just have an East lol. Similar to how in the UK "Asian" tends to refer to South Asians, since there's more South Asian people here.

Medtner is an incredible composer, one of the greatest, but so piano-centric. It's understandable that non-pianists haven't heard of him or wouldn't vibe with his music as much. But well worth the effort. Everything firmly grounded in tonality and tight formal structure, but nevertheless with a unique approach and voice.
I agree with whoever recommended the violin/piano sonatas as a first taste. His quintet is accessible too.

Medtner and Scriabin are pretty cool in their own particular ways.. There are three violin+piano sonatas by Nikolaj Medtner, the first one is very singing, lovely.. and so are his "Two Canzonas with Dances" for violin and piano, - both have very good videos on TH-cam.
