Thank you for reviewing this Nightcrawler sculpt from XM studios. I was looking for a Nightcrawler to buy so I was comparing this XM with the Sideshow and I decided to go with the Sideshow one better. Even though the XM sculpt is more dynamic, I was also worried about the weight distribution of the character put on just the left leg and I prefer a more traditional outfit look. Even though this XM Nightcrawler is dynamic in pose, I don't think they thought it properly on how it connects to the base. So I am glad I went with the Sideshow piece instead.
I like how XM gives some modern takes n keeps it classic with these pieces I personally love this piece super dynamic… if you’re not changing your not growing 😬
This piece looks fantastic! Great job presenting it, so detailed! Even though this is just packed with detail I’m most likely going to order the Sideshow version. To me this piece suffers from just too much going on.
All XM pieces are so detailed, i give them that. My only concern is the engineering and weight of it. If i am looking for a Nightcrawler, i would buy this because of how dynamic and unique it is.

i do like dynamic pose for certain character such as this one but the engineering must be perfect for years to come. SS does a pretty good job on the design and the color is quiet vibrant.
Good review Art! Impressive portraits and the dynamic pose is a interesting feature. However I still think the SS piece has the edge in most other areas. Great first look.
Another great review and at first when i saw this piece i was like meh its ok but when you review it looks so much better. Are you going to review the P1 Jon Snow on throne? I thought on one of the streams you said you might. If you are i am looking forward to that one.
Completely agree with the concern on the peg, literally the first though I had when I saw you putting it together. In their original pictures there looks like a black bar that was holding it up too, wonder if they just are not showing that?
no, this prototype doesn't come with a bar or anything. however, i think i saw some type of tube holding it at XM flagship store. not exactly sure what it is though.
I feel that a character should never be overshadowed by the base on a statue. That is what's happening here. There is just too much going on here and the character is getting lost in it. Yeah quality is all good with xm but Sideshow wins with their Nightcrawler piece.
Edgar!! YES!! You’ve nailed it!!!!! The BAMF!! is swallowing him just a little too much! I know he’s known as the “fuzzy elf” but he’s kinda lost in all of this. Artistically, it’s beautiful… but SS kinda knocked it out of the park! There’s a (BAMF!) there, but Nightcrawler’s presence is uniquely prominent! And that’s why they will get my money. I may purchase XMs at a later date because I’m a die-hard Nightcrawler…
i'm not a fan of XMEN in general. only couple of characters such as Magneto, Wolverine, Cyclop, and Archangel. i'm going to collect the 1/3 scales from LBS for the XMEN line.
Way too tall @ 78cm for a 1/4. I’m not a fan of the bamf, it looks like candy. It’s a daring pose though. As simple as it is I think prefer the upcoming SS PF.
the height isn't the problem though. you don't want all statue to be the same height. SS design is pretty good but i prefer Nightcrawler to be more dynamic.
The figure itself is beautiful, but these explosions I didn't like very much. I prefer this time to take Nightcrawler the sideshow which was incredible.
I'm not a fan of this one. I think it's too busy and too big for no reason, the skin color is too light for my taste, the banf smoke looks more like bubblegum, and the base looks like a custom/amateur. Sideshow's wins this round.
i agree with it being a bit too busy as a whole but the base is well detailed. SS is alright regarding this character but again, it's a hit and miss with the quality.
I love this piece, but can't deal with the fact that only one peg holding in this angle. (If there is a rod all the way, still the paint gonna crack or break fully). And the discoloration between the tail and the face. And the Sentinel hand a bit dark, I think can handle more blue. Yeah and swords needs to be metal (in 2022 that's a must) But I love the sculpt, really awesome representation of Nightcrawler. Again, one peg, steep.

Totally agree here. You need to take risk and i appreciate that more. You dont want the same old design over and over again.

I sold my SS version of nightcrawler once this one came. The XM one looks way better in my opinion.

it is definitely not for everyone but over all it is a great looking statue. it is perfect for top shelf as well if the engineering holds up.

some people do prefer a story base so it really is depends on what you like. In the end, it's good to have choices.

i love the pose and details.. but my main concern is the engineering pose, im afraid that it might lean by sometime.

why are you selling you xmen collection?

Looks good but XM should have given an empty right hand without sword so you can display Nightcrawler without swords if desired. Huge miss by XM.
ah yes, one sword switch out is enough but it's not a big deal for me for not having an empty hand.

Sideshows just doesn't compare, unless you want to spend less but you'll also be receiving a lesser product.
Yes, the quality between the two is unmatched. Atleast, people can choose the product inside their budget 👍🏻

yes, as the prototype, it doesn't look like the peg will hold all the weight. we will have to see because Ang did mention that it will be stronger.
