    Thank you for this video. Very helpful. I bought the device for my disabled mother so she can adjust thermostat from her phone. I thought I had it set up properly but I did not! Eco mode was driving my elderly mother crazy and I didn't understand how to get out of it until I watched your video. Also the information about the fan was useful in general. Thanks again for taking the time.

    Excellent review of all the features of nest thermostat !!! Some of the features are easy and intuitive but explanation about ;
    1) safety temperature
    2) early on option
    3) fan setting option in schedules,
    4) air filter removal warning in notifications are not obvious to first time users and I found the video very helpful.

    Excellent presentation. I am, however, still stuck on how to set an " away" time. I have 2 homes. I currently have 2 nest thermosets installed in home 1. One for my AC and one for my heat.
    I plan on adding 2 to home 2 when I return there soon.
    Anyway, both are wired correctly and running fine. I only use cooling thermostat in summer. Heating one in winter
    So, regarding cooling (or in the winter heating, I suppose).
    I don't quite understand how to either use the eco setting or setting a custom setting to set either a very high number(in summer(when I'm at house2) or a low number in winter (when at other home. I'll also have to figure that out when I get the 2 nests, that I plan on installing at house 2.
    I have my current 7-day schedule set fairly simply. A set cooling time during the day and a sleep time. I have an eco temp that I would like to use when I leave for a few weeks or whatever,
    I'm guessing that it must have to do with setting that eco mode into hold position, so it stays high until I take it off hold .
    My goal is to have my google home app remotely start to cool down or heat up whichever home I'm within an hour of arriving at.
    Please advise. If that was covered by you, I missed it.
    Feel free to reply, DM me , if you have the time.
    Thanks
    Steven K

    Great video, you explained everything! I can't believe there isn't a way to switch the display temperature readings so that the actual current room temperature is displayed in large font and the 'set to' below in small font (instead of the opposite). I'm really disappointed in Nest (or Google). It's too bad the Ecobee Premium I had was not sensing the correct temperature even though the SmartSensor it came with was able to detect the correct temp. Ecobee is way better than Nest. I regret buying the Nest.

    Maybe it's just me, but I am stunned that there seems to be no direct way to program the Google Nest thermostat to TURN OFF at a particular time, e.g., at bed time. You can program a start time, but no end time, at least not if that's what you want on a daily basis (you can program an end time for temperature hold, but from what I can tell that works only for any given day).
    The workaround, which is implicitly suggested by this video (Thank you!), is to add another "event" to the "schedule" at bed time using sleep mode and then turn the temperature at which sleep mode kicks in so low that it will never actually turn on while you are sleeping.
    This is yet another instance of where hi-tech makes your life needlessly more complicated. I just spent the better part of two hours figuring out how to automatically "turn off" the thermostat every night. Is there any more basic function of ANY DEVICE than turning it off and on? All Google had to do is to add an end time option after the start time option. Duh.

    Will it control furnace blower ON/OFF? My humidifier is mist kind and requires heat and blower working together with humidifier. My humidifier also requires furnace blower to work a couple minutes after humidifier switches off automatically to distribute all the moisture collected in the duct. If blower stops the same time with mist humidifier moisture still will sit inside plenum and makes it rust. Will this Humidifier Control have this setting so furnace blower work few minutes after humidifier switched off??

    Wow, super informative, as I am about to buy a couple of these. Who needs a manual! 😀 One question though, is there a way to hold the current temp indefinitely? In other words, and I can do this on my old Honeywell, if I go away a couple of days, and want to set my A/C to 80 degrees until I return, possible? I only see where you can until until a certain time.

      I had the same problem. Waking up sweltering with eco. After three calls to Nest, I finally spoke to someone knowledgeable. From the Home Google page, directly right under your address reads something that needs to be clicked. It doesn’t look like an option to click but it is.
      That’s where Nest went wrong. Follow that prompt to where you can toggle off away mode. I can’t remember exactly.
      My home page under the address now reads “HOME”. Nest should have set it up this way to be user friendly.
      Nest should have included a manual also.

  • @avsfaninstl5461
    @avsfaninstl5461 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    So the problem I am having is when I manually change my temp outside of a preset temp and wanting the manual temp to be held for an hour and then wanting it to return to the normal schedule. Once the hour is up or will keep the manual temp to the next schedule.
    Example: I have my heat at 60° when I go to sleep at 10 PM. If I want to keep keep the heat at 63° on a cold night until 11 PM it will stay at 63° until the next schedule (7 AM) because I manually changed the temp to a temp that isn't a preset temp. I would think it would just go back to the normal schedule.
    Anyone know how to fix this from happening?

    This is the biggest piece of junk. Mine thinks it is 263 degrees in my house and has done for two months. That was a pain but livable when it was hot. I could manually force the air conditioning on and off from my phone. Now it's getting cold at night. There is nothing you can do to force the heat on when the Nest thinks it's 263 degrees in the house. The Nest says Very Low Battery. So I wrestled the thing apart and replaced the batteries. It still says Very Low Battery. I thought maybe I needed to restart. I opened my Google Home and followed directions, going to Device to restart. There is no option to restart. None at all. I have hated this thing since I got it and cannot wait until next week when HVAC comes to replace with a Honeywell.

    The only thing you did in this video was make it so every single person that is interested in a nest thermostat just changed their minds.

    This specific thermostat is trash. There's no options to set the thermostat to a start/end time at a certain temperature. You can only use the presets and there's no option to end the preset at a certain time. The most basic of functions and it dont have it.

    2 apps plus processer to run manually.... replace with 26 dollar programable and you will not need a vido to understand. 5 calls to tech, 15 calls to support and still no refund for this miserable product. NEST means RUN AWAY... and if you think I am the only one do look around.Black and Decker support makes google and nest look like fools.

    Too much unnecessary confusion. Even has a list of 9/10 different languages to choose from on the nest thermostat. Ridiculous!
    The thermostat will go up or down by itself. Its like a computer on the wall. Give me a simple and easy to-do thermostat!
