You know, im not used to a dealer pointing out the flaws on a particular machine, but it is different and sort of refreshing to har the news. There will obviously be some small stuff wrong with 50 plus year old vehicles. I dont mind it at all. Prices are also better becase of it. It truely is nice to know what you are genuinely getting. You may not have the very best examples of these cars, but i would definitely buy from you first, before a place that hides everything and you get a handful of surprises when my car arrives. Way to go fellas, i appreciate the full honesty. Ill be shopping with you when im ready for my next muscle car in about a year. Thank you.
Thank you for watching
1 Thing that I see here is that she is an all a regental survivor, color and all. For she was a special order in those days all but the aluminum radiator. For she is a GTX and not a roadrunner and the GTX was more special at that time of the build in that year. Nice to see 1 of these again and well worth the money.
Starting in 1972, if you got the 440 in a road runner, it came with GTX badges. That continued thru 1974.
The GTX was the business mans Road Runner .
That's alot of lifter chatter for running it so hard. I'd get that sorted.
Did you see the oil leak on the bottom. Like real main seal shot. I'd own it
440 +6 with only a 7-1/4 rear end… that will be the first thing to break. Needs an 8-3/4 minimum!!
no way it's a 7.25..that's a slant six & 273 2bbl car rear. could be an 8.25..still a lil lacking, if so.
8.75's are fabulous & best would be a 9.25.
im thinking this is an original SB Satellite if that is an 8.25"..if so, it's a 15k car with a 440-6 dropped in.
if it was an gennie '72 GTX 440-6 car? Ahaha..HUGE $$$$.
I dont think they put 440 six packs in anything after 1971 @@gzuzsavz
@@33Kpro Was an option for 72,few were made but government regulations killed them before full production started..A few did get out in the public..
The 318 cars came with 8-1/4....more powerful engines had 8-3/4 Hemi and 6bbl cars had 9-1/4...
I prefer 8-3/4 the center section drops out and gear changes are done in half an hour...I went from 3.23 for daily driver to 4.56 for the track, when I used to race...
@@mypronouniswtf5559 I believe the hemi had the Dana 60, 8-3/4 for big blocks. But in 1966 8-3/4 were common with 273 v8’s even
The lower quarters and outer wheelhouses will need to be replaced, but I feel like this car is worth it. And what a beast! This is the kind of car that will put a smile on any hot rodder's face
Th dash needs to come out and surely all that needs to be gone through, never the less a solid and worthy project! The speedometer sounds same as when was 4 or 5 years years old they started like that😂
TO ;MAPLE MOTORS, I FEEL COMPELLED TO TELL YOU ,upon seeing this video, the clacking under the hood when this 72 Roadrunner's running sounds like the oil passages for the rocker-arm shafts in the heads are blocked. Some guys changing heads, head gaskets or shaft bolts will everlook something and 💥...NO OIL ,which will eventually fry the shfts, rockers and valves-stems-guides. The ride does have promise! FRICKIN NICE ! That color blue with the black decals and interior always looks fkn BOSS!! Happy motorin'...
I test drove a real one from a car lot back in 79 . A 1971 Orange,440-6Pack ,air grabber hood,Dana 60,sunroof. I passed on it 😢. Still regret it . If I new then what I know now!
Nice ride I agree with others should sell quick. Btw in Plymouth land it's a 440 six barrel, six pack is Dodge boyz lingo ! Just like the colors each brand had different name for same color. Another great video
The Plymouth 'Cuda 340 with three 2 barrels was always referred to as 340 6 Pack. I still have an advert from my 70 'Cuda 340 6 pack. external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.pinimg.com%2Foriginals%2F4e%2F04%2F74%2F4e047459185c9348eab366ec1f40b3e7.jpg&f=1&nofb=1&ipt=5f9e4ada4c2c8dbbbfee65c1fb334a8b13e98973b80624da9b49e1c357971b74&ipo=images
This beast is tuned really well. It looks lovingly cared for and the mechanic/body guy did an incredible job. Also, I never set foot in a Satellite and this whole video satisfied my curiosity about it. Awesome.
Well it's still a Plymouth and you can't beat an old Mopar
She might be a clone, but she's a badass! At least from what I know about Mopars, who ever did up this car did it right, seems all correct as a 1972 Roadrunner GTX. Do the bodywork, fix the engine noises and swap out that rear end (must have been a 318 car originally) then this car is a total keeper.
Maybe its just me, but there is just something magical about the 71-72 (NOT 73-74) Charger/Satellite/RR-GTX. This is in my top 5 faves ever to grace the Maple Motors lot....
Очень красивое сочетание цветов. Не думал, что спортивным Плимутам может подходить такой спокойный и нежный цвет.
So 21,000 Satellite Sebring Pluses were built in 1972 145,000 Satellites built overall including 4 doors. How many can exist today & here we are in 2024 looking at a solid looking example right in from of our eyes..how cool is that someone will buy this..
This old Mopar won't last long at all 👍 Nick this is a beautiful ride 🔥
Thank you
It’s either got solid lifters or the valve train is 💩! The oil pressure guage doesn’t work? I’d be leary of this one! Sorry Nick!
I knew I couldn’t be the only one who noticed the knocking. Did you also hear the detonation? Too much timing in this one best case scenario.
Love that design I know it doesn't matter cuz you're trying to sell cars but I used to have a 73 Dodge charger same exact body style love that thing metallic hunter green dark green vinyl top dark green Corinthian leather interior 😆👍
Great car. Mopars have a special place in my heart. Having run a number of them on the back roads of Franklin County. If that is a true 440+6 it could have solid lifters. 413 p.i. was a hoss as well. When nothing else was available a 383 mag.would do the trick. Especially on the old mountain roads.
Amen 2 that brother
All 440 Six Packs had hydraulic lifters from the factory. But you’re right, that could have been changed
@drippinglass but wth is all that RACKET ?? The thing sounds like it's got no oil pressure, or all the rocker arms are loose !!
If it's a true 440+6, I would bet anything it isn't original to that. Those were unicorns in '72 (Maybe 10-15 were let loose)
Nice old car Nick
If I wasn’t 70 years old
Thanks Brother Man
How good is your math bud?
@@kevinjames9860
I said if I wasn’t 70 years old
How well can you comprehend
Guess you read that one wrong Kevinjames
Its NOT 70 years old you twat, go back to school. Its FIFTY, 50 years old, to anyone who can do basic math.
Yep, read that all wrong, humblest apology, i'll go back and study grammar instead!
That air grabber is cool. Old school tech. Never seen one. I dig it
The roadrunner emblems are a little funky but at least it's a badass satellite!
Had a '71 roadrunner, black and white, but it was only a 318.....BUZZKILL....I didnt keep it long. Traded it for a 69 dodge dart 383.
🏆pretty damn cool ride🏆 my 73 charger was the same color👀 look pretty cool with cragar rims &Mickey Thompson 🍀tires 😎✌️
Thank you Nick! You opened the passenger door, I appreciate it!
was it just me, or did anyone else notice it didnt seem to have oil pressure, on the gauge anyways when it was running, could see the water temp up but not the oil.
Damn. A little disappointing it still has the 8 1/4 in the back. That will blow up behind a 440-6
Is the motor supposed to clatter like that
Could be anything could be the water pump the fan belt the fan. Or just rebuild the f****** thing and stop whining
Someone spent a good amount of money on this ride. Those 3 2brl carbs are a bear to tune, but this one is running strong! You'll pass everything but a gas station with this one 😅 needs a posi rear-end though, if you're going to have the power an open differential isn't the way to put the power to the pavement.
I have 2 of them. Not hard to tune. Just keep the vacuum secondaries, and jet a little richer than stock. It’s all in the Chrysler DC manuals.
It was probably a nice tribute restoration years ago but time and most likely sat in a damp barn/garage 😢
GTX and Roadrunner r Satellites with a different dress on
Needs a set of Machine Gun tips , looks solid underneath , good bones 😊
Great looking '72 👍👍
Thanks 👍
Yes the Plymouth , dressed up as a Road Runner! I have been waiting for this video. Nice Car, thanks Nick for the ride !!!
Sounds like a Japanese koo koo clock, tickidy tick tick. Not me
i had one when I was 19. plum crazy purple with a 383! NICE
I had a 71 with a straight 6. Like the horsepower and look of this car.
Nice ride this is sharp ❤ I bet this horn is gonna work 💪
Sounds like a diesel
little baby boy😢 go find a tesla an tell me if that sounds like a diesel
@@edwardbrownjr2961
A LITTLE TRIGGERED ARE YOU…😂
only when others are triggered like dont know there head from a hole in the ground 🤣🤣
@@edwardbrownjr2961
Your panties are a little too tight!
Not original but I haven't seen a beauty like this on your videos in about a month.
A real one like this would be 100,000k. Great place to start.
It’s gonna take a gob of money to make it decent
Thanks for the video Nick, absolute dream car!
If that's an original Air Grabber hood, someone will pay good money for it (to use on an original car that is missing one).
Cool car but that engine is too noisy ... I would verify it has oil pressure.
Nice old Mopar.. ought to sell pretty quick. Mopar guys will be going crazy over this one. Nice price too.
Nice I want it but I don’t have 28 grand
Sounds like noisy valve train and I could hear spark knocking inside when you get on it. Down the road???? Am I crazy?
Ping form not being timed properly or low octane gas...Probably needs higher octane fuel..
I heard Spark knock too, no, you’re not crazy.
I was thinking timing, he normally puts 93 octane in his cars when he fills them
I love the car even though it is a clone but needs a ton of work to be perfect
Looking good sounds good 👍 nice. Big 10.
Engine sounds rough. Pass
Very beautiful looking car thanks Nick have a very nice day mate
Thanks, you too!
Your still doing great videos nick & your music is getting better all the time good luck brother 😊
Appreciate it!
Had a 70' roadrunner with 383 4 spd and a 71 satellite with 318 auto
Valve train noise, in a '72?
Its a decent car, been a mopar guy since 99, that car is gonna need alot of work, motor is noisy, needs interior work, differential replacement and body work to get the chips and bondo gone, 440+6 and air grabber hood are very cool, yr into making money, i get it, but its not worth the asking price, id offer maybe 15 grand, pull the motor and hood and stick a 318 in it and recoup some money and stick it in a real roadrunner, sorry guys thats just my opinion
This car was on fb marketplace for $19,500 up in Wisconsin a while back
I hope the oil pressure guage isn't working because it's reading 0
Was that seatbelt buzzer from 1972? or aftermarket?
Roadrunner and GTX badges ..
Sounds like a solid cam and needs adjusting .
Classic.
car starts/runs great. solid bod. one of the best handling muscle cars, this era of B bod Mopar. it'd need way better
tires..lol. undercar cam: could be an 8.25" rear..a lil lacking, if so. 8.75's are fabulous but those are ez to spot & this
ain't got one..& best would be a 9.25. i'm thinking this is an original SB Satellite if that is an 8.25"..if so,
it's a 15k car with a 440-6 dropped in. if it was a gennie '72 GTX 440-6 car? Ahaha..HUGE $$$$.
Yes sir . Got one . With a 400 grey and green.
I have a red one like that with a 318 under the hood
Putting roadrunner emblems on a satellite is like putting SS emblems on a Malibu. Sacrilegious.
I don’t care, I like it. Not so special that you can’t have some fun!
If you own it, do whatever you wish !!! It’s called hot rodding- make it your own.
I agree, I own a70 Malibu and love it and had one back in 84 could’ve bought an SS but the memories were made in the Malibu.
Eh so what. It’s not a concourse car you don’t drive. Or a concourse event. Make it look as cool as you can and burn the tires off it.
What about putting a " 'Cuda" emblem on a lower "Barracuda" model ?
the mighty TF8 transmission down under,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Cool 😎. I don’t think I would drive over to the other lot until the cars pass. I’m sure that would scare the people thinking you were pulling out . Maybe they’re used to it 😅
what a gem! not a fan of the color, but good price i guess
I like how Nick sets the cars on autopilot.
Its balsy, but nice, I agree
You have a backup light out on the driver side bro 😹
Nick, whats all that engine noise, manifold or exhauat? Not the speedo cable dude...
Yes the speedo cable was 100% making noise
Yes, noted, but whats all the engine noise? As another commented, "sounds like a diesel"...
The bellhousing 👀transmission ✌️
Maybe solid lifters.
My dad had one EXACTLY like this but a marine blue with metal flake. On Cragar SS 15 inches. My God do i wosh i had one.
Thats A nice car, if i had my 70 Mach done it would be at my house.
like the but that engine sounds noise
I believe you hear the 🍀 bell housing 😎✌️
This looks like a steal at 28k
You pull out in front of a mean looking muscle car. Honks. *oh that's cute!
Man that valve train chatter is sounding rough on that thing. Nice looking car though.
For $30K just buy an old chevy. At least you'll make it home.
How much does it cost to ship a car to the UK.
hope it came with a life-time supply of free tires
my 120 cube Subaru does 0-60 in 5.7 secs (in the rain)
Gota love it 71 would be irisistable but this one is cool
👍
That's a sweet ride.
Now this is a muscle car.
Nice muscle car
The jarring door open sound before the buzz took over.
original six pack car?
You can make most people think it is a Road Runner you still have the performance for half or a third of the money 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😅😊
Oh no she's a one wheeler peeler lol
I never knew you could get a 440 six pack with the air grabber setup on a Satellite. Wonder what rear gearing the car has?
You couldn't get it in a Satellite and 440 + 6 wasn't offered that year either. Someone put it together with an air grabber hood and badged it as a Road Runner. I've never seen Nick misrepresent anything. Few used car dealers have ethics like him.
It was never offered on a Satellite.
The factory actually made 3 440 Six Pack road runner GTX’s for 1972. They even had the engine option in early brochures. However it didn’t meet EPA emissions standards and was cancelled.
Ayy thank you
@@jonbruce536❤
Hey Nick, I am a fan of your dealer, i have a question?, how do you know this satellite is not a Road Runner is there in the title or you can check it somewhere else? Like in the chassis or engine?!?. I will appreciate if you answer this question. Thank you.
Yes we have the title
@@MapleMotorsNickSouthgate the reason I’m asking I have a 71 Road Runner and the title says Road Runner, but I was wondering if it’s a clone! but if it’s anyway for me to check!?. Thanks
@@MapleMotorsNickSouthgate congratulations for nicks baby!!
The vin number on the dash will tell you its not a road runner .
@@kevinpatrick8788 does it the vin start with RM 23 when is Road Runner?!
You could take a tomato and call it a potato at the end of the day as long as you don't try to sell it as a potato it's all good
69 best year
Everybody wants to buy something to make a investment is there anybody out there that buys something anymore just to run the hell out of it
Yeah those guys are the hellcat/ srt crowd .
Back then of those days that 1972 Plymouth Satellite with that 440 6 pack would this cast you $ 500 or $ 600 and out the door you would go but know not theses days would cast up to % 50000 or more theses days.
You can see tiny little play in the driveshaft
It might have Rhoads type lifters (better vacuum and they are noisy). I hope thats why valvetrain is noisy.
A lot of oil is coming off the transmission and rear axle.
Get them while you can people God's not building anymore understand what I'm saying
at least the tach works
That thing's detonating like crazy.
Engine sounds VERY bad. I grew up in my dads Chrysler dealership and was a mechanic for 48 years. I also had many Mopar big blocks and one 440 6 pack Road Runner so I know what they are supposed to sound like. This one is terrible. Kind of sounds like its missing, and has a ton of hydraulic lifter noise. That one will need a complete rebuild. Worth it though😊
Love this car 440 perfect ❤
