People often underestimate, how much of the cinematography and the editing of this 90 year old flick is still up to date with modern movies. For example all the mirror shots or the dialouge montage, where it cuts back and fourth between the criminals and the police, in order to take down the murderer, is still a very stylistic devise of choice today.
I agree the use of sound, especially in the telling of the narrative, was tremendous, and groundbreaking at the time.. Lang understood his craft like few others..
