Awesome video! You did an incredible job showing the beautiful majesty of the North Fork! While I prefer the South Fork due to family history, you can't really go wrong with the North, Middle, or the South Fork of the Clearwater!
@@mountainwanderer I'm just a near 80 year old car camper I live in east of Kooskia so I have day hiked a few trails in my day and I hiked alone. I backpacked some in the Washington Cascades. I got too old and was unable to take the Seven Devils Loop trail which takes around 3 days. I hiked from the trailhead to Dry Diggins Lookout above the Snake River which will surprise you how steep the return hike is and it is only 7 miles one way. Take this loop hike before you get too old.
There was a time in my life where I was all about the challenge and had plenty to prove to myself. As I age I find that I am wayyyy over that. Relaxing, enjoying a slower pace is what it is all about for me. I find I see so much more. :) Thanks for sharing, glad Timber's limp improved! :) :)
I'm glad Timber was ok. You always provide great overviews of the area you are hiking in. The river looked impressive but not too deep and the flowers in bloom were a nice addition. Thanks for sharing Travis!
@mountainwanderer the cedars are definitely my favorite. It seems like there must be a pretty good wolf population out there too! How cool to get to see one. Some day.
❤❤❤ Please keep making these videos. You're a good Dog Dad for putting Timber's needs first. I also like how you went with your gut and took the Fun way. It is so very beautiful out there!🌅
Well Timber is my partner out there and we have to stick together. He is still tough enough to have made it, but there was no reason to risk any further injury
Love this one! I been eyeing this trail for years. Was thinking about hiking it to Five Lakes Butte area and then back or connecting to the St Joe area with a car at both trailheads. I've been to Five Lakes Butte before, and it was a horrible road to get there, so hiking looks better. You made the right choice. Never let ego make your decisions. You got me excited to hike! I Got the next 5 weeks off so I hope I fit this one in. Thanks for sharing! Great video! Hike on!
Noticed some in camera transitions in there...had to go back a few times and see how u did them. Beautiful are for a relaxing stroll! Timber dog ridding the area of nightime deer for the win! Boom!
As always, enjoyed the Idaho backcountry scenery and liked the laid back pace you decided on. At my age I've really gotten to love those stream trails and hikes with all the fly fishing potential. Do you use the drone to scout ahead of you when the path forward may be uncertain?
deer snorting when you are in their spot?? I need to know more about this... we were recently camping in Canada, a few hours north of Spokane, and we heard something moving toward us.... we heard snorting/exhaling every minute or so & by the time it was close, we were convinced it was a grizzly. at one point I saw a huge female deer grazing very close to my hammock. but later. other campers were yelling into the dark to scare away a 'bear' too! we didn't sleep a wink. any thoughts or tips?
@@mountainwanderer right, because bears move silently, unless threatened? I thought of that. I also saw eyeshine (one eye moving) so we were very scared and confused 🤣🤣 also the mosquitoes ate half our flesh so we cut it short😁
@@mountainwanderer I hear deer snorting all the time where I live. But according to Fish and Game, most grizzly sightings are in Kaniksu NF, but I have talked to resident is my area on the border of Nez Perce NF who have seen the big hump on the back. Nice video. Reminds me of my many happy adventures in the Clearwater country back in the 1980s.
I would've loved to had roamed the area back then!

Sounds like I need to check out the other 2 forks! Thanks for checking it out!
Great hike! Thank you for sharing
Thanks for checking it out!
Crazy, there is a Clearwater River in the Olympics as well. Both have a name that describes it all. Good choice to go giddy over grind.
Love the way you put that Aaron! 😂
I've spent a lot of time in that area with my inlaws over the years!
Right on! I'm looking forward to exploring more of that area!
@@mountainwanderer I'd like to see more of it myself!

I feel myself making that same shift now!
...right there with you!
I'm glad Timber was ok. You always provide great overviews of the area you are hiking in. The river looked impressive but not too deep and the flowers in bloom were a nice addition. Thanks for sharing Travis!
I would love to get down there again and explore some more of it!
Love the Great Burn, one of my favorite areas. Someday I'm going to run into you out and about 😉
Also, go Griz! Beat the Cats!
I have really fallen in love with the Great Burn! There is quite a bit of dynamic country there!
🦅

Cedars are my absolute favorite! There are wolves out there, I was a bit north, but I ran into a pack one day.
Down by the river! Beautiful area! Glad you listened to your gut. A lot of people let the ego rule that moment. Good times! 👍👍
Thanks, man! That is something that served my well on my last trip too!
gorgeous river scenery!
There is something to be said for river country!
Great to be back with you Travis after my 4 week BC trip collecting butterflies. Timber stay safe.
I hope it was a great trip!
Been here before! A few times up n down that area.
Pretty sure I will be back!

Wow! The next 5 weeks off! I was kind of surprised that you haven't been in there yet. Usually I look at your channel for ideas on where to go!
It's fun to give in to the urge to just ramble and explore sometimes. Glad Timber's okay!
It is! True Wandering!

Blitz would've loved it too! Out there patrolling together!
Some beautiful land there. Well captured.
It is beautiful country! Thanks for checking it out!
Great scenery man. Keep em coming!!!
Thanks! I'm looking forward to going back, there is more to explore there!
Absolutely beautiful video; we absolutely love your videos, the music, the drone shots, Timber; really excellent; thank you so very much for posting!
Thank you for continuing to coming along with us!
Looked like a really nice outing, just you and Timber. Thanks for the views, too. Enjoyed!
Tom
This turned it in a nice relaxing trip!
It's aways a treat to watch Travis, and his adventures. Great scenery and music as always
Too kind! Thanks so much for coming along!
That was an awesome trip and glad Timber recovered fast. Take care, Al
He can still bounce back quick!
Good to see you and Timber on the trail. Hoping Timber feels bette!
He is back to 100%! Thanks for checking it out!
Laid back trips are the best. Rest and relaxation in tune with nature's spirit. That makes a great trip. (A little Bourbon doesn't hurt either)
Have you done many trips over there?
@@mountainwanderer Sadly no Travis. Hopefully this month though but no plans at this time.
I meant more back in the day. Did your horses not like walking in Idaho?
@@mountainwanderer Ran the entire Border chasing Elk. Have ridden in Idaho but most of my hunting camps were in Montana.

I've only used the drone one time to scout ahead for me, on this trip I just got on the trail and started walking.
Outstanding music and cinema...............Why I come here......Oh, and the briefings,
Go Cats, beat the Griz.
Thanks! Always fun to make them
I wanted to see you cross the river on that cable. Would've made for some interesting footage lol
I bet you would like to see that! It's not for people like me though, it's more for people with broken hips and such. You know the type....

I was happy to be there that day!
Do you bring any type of protection?
I brought bear spray with me.

🛳 😂
More scenery less talking wood b nice.
I disagree, I like to hear about the trail challenges and decision-making. Maybe think about turning the sound off when you watch the channel?
😂 Thanks for watching
