Mostly neoclassical in style (his models were Mozart and Hindemith), he is best known for the cantata God in disguise, Pastoral suite, Suite from A winter's tale and the twelve Concertinos for various instruments and string orchestra. Other great works are the Violin concerto, Music for orchestra, Orchestral variations, Lyrical phantasy for orchestra and Quattro tempi for wind quintet.

That second movement is incredible. Definitely one of the most gorgeous melodies ever written for a saxophone.
