Hi, so this is amazing however I just wanted to note to anyone who needs to schedule this. Go to the family you want to automate - Manage - Shared Parameters, create a group and click to create shared parameter, under :Type of parameter" select the type of family that will be changing example if its physical doors you are changing between - select doors. Create a shared parameter linked to this parameter under the family types. When you have created it youll see it just replicates what your dropdown is currently doing. Type in the Formula place =*Graphic Name insert with case sensitive* and enter. It will then take on the role of copying the graphically changing data and can be placed on schedules in your projects. You are welcome :D
Hi Andre, thank you! Can you please explain it a bit more. So after you create a shared parameter linked to the desired (changing) category. You then put it inside the family obviously then you create a new shared parameter inside the family from the one we already created. What I am not understanding is the graphical part and also I don't think when I change the panel (I am doing this for window) I see the change on the drop down in the parameter as well! To be more precise I don't understand the: "Formula place =*Graphic Name insert with case sensitive* ". Can we just create a shared parameter for the let's say window panel and just use it in the projects schedule so it shows there? Or maybe I am not understanding and you mean we can somehow show graphically. Sorry for the long text. Thank you!
@@MrDrenahmeti Hey, so the reason I hassled with this to try and figure a way out to make a shared parameter that links to your graphics is because you can't schedule graphics directly. Like you can but it won't show changes. For example if you have a push pad, push bar and door handle as options for your door family. And you want it to be able to change between those 3 with just a drop down on the properties you use this tutorial. However if you try to schedule those details so eg. Your building has 8 different doors, 3 push pads, 3 push bars and 2 handles and you use the graphic method, your schedule will only show "Door family" it won't be able to show that graphic parameter as a scheduling. Which is my challenge because I need to tell the contractors how to install, change or remove the door. So I found a way to make a link to schedule by creating a shared parameter that basically copies the graphic that you applied to the door. So that's why I said "graphic name", if your door has push bar options and you want to be able to cycle through them with a drop down. Every time you change the drop down option to something else that command basically just looks whatever you clicked for your dropdown and then mimics it so to say for example if it's iron mongery on the door and you called the graphic "iron mongery" then in the code for that separate parameter you say for the Formula =*iron mongery* and then it'll change its value to the iron mongery value.
I want to create parameters cabinet, i want the door to change parameters There's a parameter option has a choice that we put in it the category for example it can be (doors, generic, etc ) so ...if i chose doors all the doors families in the project be available to choose, even if it's not suitable to it, i want a way either to allow only specific options or to create a new family type category so i can put the doors with in it, Can you help me please with any suggestions
I am create one bath set family. It contains sink, taps and drains. These all family comes under one family Category like plumbing. I have created three family type parameter just like above in video. But in sink parameter all families come tap and drain also. How to filter sink names only visible in that parameter without changing tap and drain category? If there any formula please tell me?
the most useful video talking about this issue! thank you so much
You're so welcome!

Great job! Thank you for shared your skills to beginners.
Glad I could help :)
As usually, very useful like all your tutorials. Great job and thanks for sharing
