Now that's what I remember when Gran Gran and Harold cleared Right of Way down on I75 near Valdosta!!! Whenever it got down to finish work, Gran Gran would stand there and watch the grader and if he didn't like the way something was being done he'd call the operator off of the machine and operate it himself for awhile and then get off as to say 'this is the way I want it done. That would included Harold at times. He didn't pay favorites. He just wanted it right!

We had a Michigan 275 loading shovel rear wheel steer with the 2 stroke engine, that sounded fantastic, I think it was a V 12 but not certain now.

Sure seems like the 9 should be sufficient by itself. Might work better if they weren't trying to make 12" cuts. And why not tag on the fly?

The clag ( coal ) from that dozer is hell fire awesome (hell fire is a term used by railway enthusiasts. I am writing this so that you understand what it means ). All our locos smoke like this.

    Hi, Folks.
Interesting video - - - - - of how not to do it. I'm no mechanic but I suspect that the D9 might have some problems from the way it belches black smoke under load, probably to do with air, maybe turbo on the way out or the air cleaner is choked with dust.
Then there is the situation with the D6 double pushing. If that was my D9 and I caught the operator allowing double pushing with the ripper right up like that, even with a mere D6 behind, he would not be operating it for long like that - ONE telling. He should have the ripper down to where the draught frame is at least close to horizontal to minimize the loading on the lift rams and give a straight through line of push.
And what was the D9 operator doing when that second scraper came in, rolling and smoking a cigarette?
That said, I do like to sound of those 'Jimmys' - especially from a distance. LOL. Thanks for posting.
    Just my 0.02.
You all have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

I absolutely agree.. must be hard packed clay. D9 was bleaching far too much black smoke. pushing on a ripper like that! D8 should have been pushing while D9 did a little ripping. what's up with the buggy oparaters.. coming to a complete stop and while loading holding the two cats spinning tracks and not moving. there would be a short but clear talk on how to operate . that just is not done up here in Canada. was a good quality video.

It's not done down here either if anybody knows how to move dirt. I'd always catch the pans on the fly and kept the cuts back bladed smooth on the haul road sidenwhere they could come and go and not get beat to death. Usually cut 4 to 6 inches in 2nd gear and keep moving right along. And we were on a dam job and cutting clay like that no problem. Just need some operators or a boss that could get everybody's attention.

Deas Plant Worn out diesel injectiors, if it does not use any engine oil. More common than a turbo failure.

D9 operator (term loosely applied) needs to float his blade while pushing. Saw him pick the rear wheels of the scraper nearly off the ground a couple of times.
Spinning the wheels on a scraper around here is a good way to find yourself hunting a new line of work.

Bit of an embarressment really. The smoke is a lil excessive but ahh im used to internationals. My td30 has a factory fitted dampener to the deceleraror pedal to make it look not quite so bad lol. But yeah its a complete shambles there.

The 9 is a sick little puppy. I'd start with a new air filter and see how much less smoke it had. Then..........

Why use two dozers to push the Terex? One D9 has the power to do the job and adding a D6 is a waste of fuel! The 3 machines have a combine power of 4 engines running simultaneously!

Strange front end on these scrapers with the angled nose...... not typical of Terex or earlier Euclid style. Are these an overseas version of some sort? Have never seen others with this type of front end.

They were unique to the British market the bowl is the same as a American TS 24 ,but the British version had a different front and rear as well as running Detroit 8v71s in both the front and rear. The American TS 24 had the 12V71 in the tractor and the 671 in the rear.
