I think this was the first episode that people really saw how well Santana could sing. Before this she always sang background if I’m remembering that right
Santana just came in and said I'm not playing. Even when we see Mercedes Im pretty sure it was both Santana and her. t seems like Naya's vocals were dominating the chorus mostly, because on tour Naya would sing that part and Mercedes doesn't join this performance. Rachel's gets a better outfit later in the episode . This one was a failure because she couldn't sew. There's are plenty of videos of them doing this on tour and you could see Travels new outfit and Mike, the asian dancer joined the choreography.
All of their outfits were copies of Lady Gaga's outfit at the time, only one different was Rachel. She should have on a costume made out of Kermit the Frog toys, but hers is just Beanie Babys stapled on because her dads couldn't sew. On this episode Rachel finds out who her Biological mother is Shelby Cocran.
I just realized that when Mercedes is singing Santana's joins in when they say "I want your love " pushing Mercedes vocals to the background ,yet, on the studio version is viceversa with just Santana at the beginning, then Mercedes joins at the end for the chorus 😮 I always assumed that since Mercedes was given a close up, it was her voice on top and Santana's background but it always felt off. The mixing is confusing and different in both versions.
Kurt’s voice with the girls sounds so good, and Santana sounded amaaaaazing. This was one of her first solos on the show.

I know Santana & Kurt slayed this song but Tina, that girl also slay in this and deserves more line 😂
