I was raised in Richmond. Going to school was a nightmare just getting there. Had guns pulled on me. Constantly asked who I represented. Watched teachers get beat up in class. Had friends killed. Can't say how it is now. If yer going to buy there you should pick the rich areas.
Sounds like you faced some challenges in your youth. Richmond definitely has its challenging area, but it also has many great areas. People just hear about the bad on the news (or in comments like yours) and the never hear about the good.
The hills was safe, in the 80s😂 I went to grant, cortez, Washington in point Richmond. I went to Helms, and El Cerito. And ccc for a month. I miss it. But it was very dangerous.
With a crime rate of 45 per one thousand residents, Richmond has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to all communities of all sizes - from the smallest towns to the very largest cities. One's chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime here is one in 22.
Richmond does have crime challenges, but, like most cites, the crime story in Richmond is a story of neighborhoods. Learn the neighborhood and you'll understand the story. You can't paint the whole city in a broad stroke. Here are the city wide crime statistics. Check out crime maps of the city. www.ci.richmond.ca.us/4010/Crime-Statistics-Reports
I am from Richmond, born in 1988 . Richmond use to be safe then got bad . Now its getting better z I would love to move back on day. But so expensive now
Hey! You started your video right down the street from my job!! Richmond def isnt as bad as people think. Yeah, there are rough areas, and there are gang bangers, but they try to keep it to insiders only. I can respect that. Another fun fact is that richmond had the first sawmill in the SF bay area, built by augustus macdonald, who also bought the barrett ranch, which was divided up into 500 parcels to be used for city commerce. Im gonna reach out by email, as i want to buy a house in richmond. Great video! Love to see Richmond being shown the love it deserves!
Danny! Thanks for watching and sharing the history! I didn't know the saw mill info! Your description of Richmond was spot on! A lot more good in the City than bad. Drop me a text or set up a zoom appointment with me (link in my video descriptions) if you need help buying a home. I don't remember seeing an email from you, but like most of us, I get buried in junk email. Sorry for the slow response ... I haven't gone through the comments in a while! All the best.
I'm not an expert on air quality. The neighborhoods near the refinery do occassionally have air quality alerts due to events at the refinery. IMO, the air quality in most of the city is fine.
Yes. All of my family is from Richmond. My parents, grandparents, great grandparents, and so on.... I've had my 4 grandparents all pass from lung cancer from living next to chevron.. if you want cancer.. move to Richmond.
I’m from Richmond, and just purchased a house in the northeast neighborhood. My neighbor is great and quite. Richmond ain’t all that bad, just need to know what pockets to live in
Richmond's reputation of being a bad place comes from the past. I grew up here since the 70s. It's not the same old richmond now, fairly safe. Even in the "bad" times, it wasn't as bad as people made it seem.
One of the most annoying things about having a channel is comments from haters that display their ignorance via their comments ... Richmond primarily built Liberty ships ... ohp.parks.ca.gov/ListedResources/Detail/1032

1960s-1970s is when it all started.
I'm in Richmond Marina Bay, it's pretty great, right on the Bay, bike and walking paths all around. Easy to ferry in to SF, close to Berkeley, etc.

Growing up in Richmond ca as a youngin was very fun but also affected me since I lost a lot of people due to gun violence and incarceration
Going through those losses must have been tough. Richmond definitely has it challenging areas, but that's not the entire city.

What year?
Best city on planet Earth. No place produces as many extraordinary people per capita.
I’m a victim of the West Contra Costa School District, all I learned was to hate people
WCCUSD is a HUGE district. It has its good and its bad.

Many people live in Richmond and love it. People's experiences can vary.

You summed it up perfectly! Richmond has challenging areas, but also some very nice ones.

Very fair and balanced perspective of Richmond. Definitely can get much more value for your money in Richmond.
Thanks! Richmond can be one of the best values in the area. Tough to discuss the city without getting into a dark sociological history.
