There are ten female pheasants per male, and at least five. You have three males who are harassing one female. Decide if you are an animal lover or a callous collector of beautiful birds.

I did not know that you raised blue winged teal ducks.

Loved looking at the beautiful birds. When was this filmed? You still don't have to that much snow do you?

Debbie, it was filmed a few weeks ago. Took forever for all of the snow to melt. It's all gone now.

The Smew are so cute!!! Are they easy to feed and breed them? I am thinking about getting some, but was told they have to eat fish and need deep cold water.. plus the ducklings are hard to get feeding.

Typically the price shows the difficulty of a species to keep and propagate in captivity. That said , I've found Smew to be not too difficult to keep on our Spring fed ponds but have found they can expire for no apparent reason. They tame easily and will accept their favorite treat ,Dried mealworms from my hand . The depth of the pond is less important than the freshness of the water therefore if a pond is shallow with a constant flow , which is important, it will stay fresher. I feed them a standard duck pellet with scratch grain and the dried mealworms in winter til March then I feed Mazuri duck breeder . The babies are very hard to start eating I will put other babies in to show them how to eat.

How many aviaries do you have for your waterfowl?

    • @life-springs-farmandaviary5908

We have two at this time. One is much larger than the other.
