Zetsubou is a map that loves to test your patience. You have to be comfortable waiting several rounds to get what you need, and in that way it really rewards players that think ahead. It's one of the reasons I love it so much, and I'm a little surprised people don't bring up that aspect of the map as it also perfectly reflects Tak's personality. Humble, somber, calm, *patient*
I think I got turned away at how much you have to learn when it first came out (origins came out when I was really young and I didn’t play it much either until a while later) but I decided to get into Easter eggs 2 or 3 years ago and when I played zetsubou I honestly went back and played it a lot for fun
I’m surprised you never mentioned the EE where you literally play as a spider. It might have been small but still something new that we hadn’t seen before.
I never gave this map a chance when it came out, basically did none of the ee's. But I went back to it a week ago to try it, did the ee and omfg I enjoyed it. Zns is definitely a good map, maybe not the most player friendly. But def good
Zetsubou is unique in that it’s a slow-burn map. It doesn’t throw you straight into the action, yet by the end you’ve had such a full experience that it feels more than worth while.
Getting to the age now where I’m in college and don’t really have the time to play all these new games coming out but somehow I will find the way because I’ll never loose the excitement inside me from being a kid
Zns is my second favourite map in bo3 behind Soe, I just love the atmosphere, sound track, wonder weapon, spider boss fight, the fact that you learn something new every time you play, the skull and the simple Easter egg. I just love this map Also I love all the mini side Easter eggs in the map just an all around amazing map
I've been playing this map a lot lately after not playing it for around 2 years, and it's actually not that bad. The set-up process doesn't take as much as people make it seem but it still takes a while. This map is definitely in my top 10 of all time.
It depends on how do you play, if you go rushing it takes an eternity, if you just go to the magic box, activate the power get the drinks, its all easy.
if you think about it, zns is the hardcore gamers best friend. it offers so much re playability that other maps don't have. the plants for instance; they allow you to get rewards and play different ways to achieve different things. as another comment stated, zns is a direct reflection of takeo, calm, somber, humble and patient. as a lot of ancient Japanese writings would suggest, patience is a virtue and if you can hold it than you are ahead of the game from the beginning.
They raygun MK3 I absolutely despise, everyone says it's such a good weapon when the amount of times it has let me down for high rounds is unreal. I hate that fucking thing.

It’s so peaceful to listen to your videos and it really calm me down tonight, hope u are well
I feel that there is a slight thematic motif behind the lack of reward for the contribution and time spent towards upgrading the KT-4 and carrying out the necessary steps needed to complete the EE. It could be a means of showing that Takeo's strife and his commitment to the Emperor is as unwelcome as the secrets of the facility becoming clear to the Primis crew.
I take real issue with collect-a-thon maps, and it's why I struggle mentally to engage with them. I feel very alienated as a more casual player (sue me) when I have to look up these extremely detailed guides to find out the 20 possible spots where a part can spawn, the 6 step path to unlock pack, the 30 step long EE that take an hour, etc. etc. etc.
I’ve always thought Zetsubbo was underrated. I definitely think the EE is tedious but I think the map design is awesome. Don’t hate me for this but I think aesthetically, it’s cooler than origins.
Damn that was quick! As a proud Zetsubou supporter, I agree with your points, and you made a lot of great observations on the less desirable parts of the map, while also regarding it with the respect it deserves. Good job. I will say though... Masamune > Fire Bow.
I honestly think Zetsubou is probably one of my most favorite maps next to Gorod Krovi, since it is one of the view maps were I find myself constantly engaged in the experience. I love DE but I find myself getting bored after round 35, while in zetsubou I am on round 30 and I’m still trying to figure out the imprint plant. It lies on the border of frustrating and challenging for me and in an age where I find myself getting bored easily I can’t help to adore almost everything this map offers me.

One thing to note is that ZNS is the one original map in BO3 that doesn't have someone talking to you the entire time. SOE: Shadowman DE: Dr. Groff, GK: Nikolai Rev: Shadowman and Dr. Monty.
Kinda disappointed you didn't bring up the SpiderBait Easter Egg Quest and really acknowledge that the Main Easter Egg reward is the boss fight arena and a great camping spot.
I really really enjoy how Origins/Zetsubou have a similar setup process and egg. The difference is Zetsubou just needed to be less tedious - in particular with watering plants and upgrading the KT. Aside from that, the work is worth the rewards. In terms of gameplay, just cutting down on Thrashers would have made the experience 10x better. If you stay in the skull room, they tend to not spawn, but even then, they’re still more of annoyance than a fun or challenging boss.
I got to 95 on this map trying to get to 100 last week. Its so much fun once you get all set up with imprints and fruits. Marshall 16s are super good with electric cherry and dead wire. Use your left to shoot spiders and reload when they're close to you to one shot them and use the right for dead wire. So much fun. Supremely underrated map.
I believe the main reason why this map is so hated by the community is because of how buggy it was at release. It just left a bad taste of shit in players' mouths and they did not want to touch it again.
This map was unique. Maybe not the best designed or best story out of the maps, but it tried to be unique and will always be my favorite bo3 map because of it. I also love the setting and how it differentiates from the other maps.
I will die on the hill that ZNS cutscene is the saddest one. Takeo's whole life is dedicated to serving the emperor of his nation. That's a huge honor and a ton of pressure on him. He kills himself in a very horrible fashion and severs his tie from his blind nationalism. People typically say GK because its relatable as it pertains to love and loss. All of their cut scenes are sad and we can relate to Nikolai more, but in the grand scheme of things his wife was a very small part of his life. Although it did lead to his alcoholism, Takeo had his whole world view destroyed and something he believed his entire life (at least 70 years).
My favorite part of the ending cutscene is how the guy sacrificed himself. Along time ago, the samurai actually sacrificed themselves in the exact same way to regain their honor.
The setup in ZNS is very tedious, but it's one of my favorite maps in terms of high rounds gameplay. The Masamune upgrade easter egg is long, but it's very easy to remember the steps (I know the steps to upgrade the staffs in Origins, but I still have to look up the symbols every time I play, which is really annoying). It's also worth mentioning that you get both a great training spot (boss room) and a great camping spot (elevator hallway) for beating the easter egg.
