Thank you! I did not know about the ability to make a curve in the mask controls or the ability to move clusters of points collectively. I really wish I'd known that when I made my Baby Yoda (sorry--GROGU) video a couple weeks ago. Any other masking tips you have are greatly appreciated. Again, thanks 👏
Thanks for watching Marc! I’m glad you got some useful tips from the video. Being able to move multiple points at the same time is a huge timesaver. I’m planning another masking video for sometime in the new year 😊👍🏼
When you demonstrate each of the mask wipe transitions - it would have made much more sense to have actually placed in an incoming clip so that we could see the full effect instead of just black where the incoming clip would go
@@Silverhorse32 It depends how complex you want the movement to be. You could use the position and scale parameters to keyframe the clip off screen directly in FCP, but if you want the first clip to do anything special like bend/fold or anything like that then Motion is probably a better option. Do you have a reference you can share for the type of flyaway you are referring to?

Thanks for watching Travis 😊 When you’ve created a mask, the black part is an alpha channel which means that anything you put underneath that clip will show through. So all I did was put that clip of Donna below the bicycle clip and when the bicycle moves across the screen, the mask reveals that clip. When you create a marker, it does not set a key frame. It’s more of a visual reference to see when the mask starts and ends. By doing this you can easily see when the black alpha channel will be revealed. I also snap the new clip I’m revealing to that marker. I hope that explanation helps. If you have any more questions, let me know 😊👊🏼

The draw mask transition is a totally different technique to the match move tracking feature. I have had a few requests to do a tracking video so I think I will do that soon 😊👊🏼

Yeah it takes a little bit of practice but keep at it, you'll get the hang of it in no time. Try use a shot that moves across the frame pretty quickly. That way there is less keyframing required 😄 Good luck! 👊🏼
That’s my FCP sorted....thanks for going through this.
My pleasure! Glad it was helpful to you 😊

@@Brad_West Is it hard to do? Does it have to be me created in Motion?

Good job Travis! So cool to see someone’s results after watching these tutorials. Keep up the good work 😄👊🏼
So this was made before the match-move feature was added into FCP. Is there any value in that tool?
