    There really was a weird trend in the 90s of games with dinosaurs having weird esoteric/biblical themes. There was also E.V.O. Search for Eden (and its predecessor 4.6 Billion Year Story), which starts out as a sort of SNES-era Spore but then completely drifts off into bizarre bullshit like a war between Atlantis and Mu, bird people in a sky island, Martians and fighting Satan in person.

    Haven't played the game but I was raised in a conservative Christian background and your assessment of creationism is accurate to the version my folks still believe in. But I feel like many parts of this would go against the sentiments of many creationists, even if the premise matches up with their ideology. And the only other biblical references i can see from just this video are that the tyrant becomes a creature that crawls around on the ground, and that mirrors the serpent becoming a serpent like we know them today: legless and crawling on the ground. I suppose that could synbolize the coming end of dinosaurs and the rise of mammals. Also, the pterosaur's name "Eloi" (not sure spelling) is similar to El/Elohim, which is a Hebrew name for God, though that would be odd if it was intentional, lol.

    "Offer him an apple of all things"
    - The forbidden fruit is often portrayed as an apple. Adam in this game speaks to a serpent (the Mosasaurus) and in return for the apple he recieves hidden knowledge. Adam later eats a plant that sends him to an afterlife and he is told that he'll never be able to return to Eden.
    It's all a lot of Genesis symbolism. Frankly I'm just happy that Eve doesn't eat something and get blamed for causing all of this world's problems like her Bible counterpart does. 😒

    • @DinoDiego16
      @DinoDiego16  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Very interesting. It would definitely make a lot more sense for the use of the apple

    • @XaeeD
      @XaeeD ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@DinoDiego16 There's never any mentioning of an apple in Genesis, though. Not sure where that came from, but some of the old Jewish exegeses mention a pomegranate as the forbidden fruit, not an apple. Also, Eve isn't necessarily 'blamed' in the story. She causes it, because she changes the commandment that God gave Adam, and by changing it, the serpent sees an opportunity to trick her, but God never rebukes or punishes her for it. They're only liable when they actively break a specific injunction. When they have disobeyed the one commandment they were given, God, in the story, asks them both why they did it, and Adam blames Eve (and indirectly God, for having made her), whereas Eve shifts the blame on the serpent. The point however is that they're both accountable for their own actions. Interestingly, according to the exegeses, the serpent wasn't a snake from the start. It had limbs and could walk around.

      Malus, meaning bad in latin, may have been mistranslated as malum. I think, but that could easily be a misconception in itself. It's a decent theory though. So bad fruit becomes apple.

    • @ashwhiteforest9078
      @ashwhiteforest9078 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Having said that, I don't see the fall from grace as necessarily bad. It opened the gates to forbidden knowledge. In a perfect world, no choice you make will be "good", save one. And only through deception, or willful spite, could one be made to act toward anything but that one specific choice. I don't think people truly realize what Eden, heaven, and omniscience really imply, and just assume it's a big pleasure buffet or something. Maybe swing some of that at the next person to specifically blame Eve. They're being philosophically and theologically lazy.

    I'm pretty sure that's a brachiosaurus on that art cover, yet in the game the sauropods are brontosaurus. I've noticed since my childhood there's been what seems like a confusion between brachiosaurus and or apatosaurus and brontosaurus. I had a toy that was labelled apatosaurus, but it was clearly a brachiosaurus. I've seen bedsheets with dinosaurs on them and it has a sauropod with the body of a brachiosaurus and the head of an apatosaurus. I just thought the confusion would have died out long ago by now.

      I don‘t think it has a name, but it truly is an aesthetic that could have only existed in 90s videogames, when developers were taking full advantage of CDs becoming the main medium of gaming but CGI itself was still industrywide in the clunky polygonal phase. Oh, and the word “citadel” brough me back to an old game called severed. I honestly can’t remember much except for the really cool atmosphere. I guess a lot of my favorite games may have some pretty crap gameplay, but I’ve always loved the lore part. The nostalgia of seeing one of those background on those dinosaur toy boxes. The backgrounds on lost Eden pretty much look like some of the old Kenner JP stuff. As much as I wish I could explore those worlds, nostalgia has probably twisted them so that they would be disappointing to play.

The only way this would've worked is if there was various endings that'd depend on how complete/how fast/various choices made throughout the game, with the ending we got as a sort of 'yes, you beat the game, but you didn't earn the actually good endings."

    Everything that is new is difficult so it's up to the developers to work on it.

      @@DinoDiego16 idk, I thought it would be interesting to explore more of this universe, I mean I don’t think it could’ve been a sequel, maybe a prequel maybe taking place before the events of the game or for a sequel they could had some sort of multiverse or another dimension where the dinosaurs killed all the humans and started invading other dimensions or other multiverses, idk just thought it would be cool to see more of this world and it’s lore.
