    I glad you managed to get so much of your shopping done and sent home, and Bonnie's bed is absolutely gorgeous it must be a relief to you both to have a big store of supplies in. I do hope someone has looked after your veg garden for you while you were away. I can't wait to see you all enjoying a bike ride. It was lovely to see so much of Bonnie, and hear her beautiful giggles. Sending love and best wishes to you all 💞

      Sadly our garden was over taken by weeds when we got home. We will share more of that in the upcoming vlogs!

    I saw your dryer sheet and had an idea. If you still get baby wipes you can get the plastic wipe container and put dryer sheets in it. Keeps them fresh longer...💜

    • @LewisFamilyVlogAlaska
      @LewisFamilyVlogAlaska  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We never really had those plastic containers, but I think someone gave us something in one. I will have to see if we still have any and try it out :) thanks for the idea.

    Hey just wondering 🙂 if you don't mind me asking, how do you pay for all that food and shipping it all back home, that's the government help you out with that stuff, awful lot of money, and shipping it back home 😵‍💫 not including all the hard work to do it 😵‍💫 I would done lost my mind 😵‍💫 I don't even know how to shop for a year, I couldn't even begin to figure it out wow 😵‍💫 I don't think I'd make it living there, having to take a plane into a city or town, and go through all that just to get food, 0h my 😵‍💫😵‍💫 but I have to say you have it down packed, you have it all figured out I guess living there all your life you would 🙂

    • @LewisFamilyVlogAlaska
      @LewisFamilyVlogAlaska  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. We just use our savings. We try to save as much as we can during the year do that way we can pay for these big shops. No government money. Well we do get something called a Permanent Fund Dividend for living in Alaska. It’s supposed to be from the oil money. So you could maybe say that helps pay for it.

    Sounds like you have a really great neighborhood friendship 🥰 I love how community comes together, from shopping for each other to helping getting the package home 🥰
    Thank you for sharing and very interesting! You are a beautiful family 😊
    Love from Johanne, Norway 🇳🇴 (yes I read that Norway was on your bucket list for traveling and some parts are more like rual Alaska, and have more dark winters and light summer, and others are more "regular" places. Anyhow I think you will enjoy the nature here, we have a lot of beautiful nature, just like Alaska 🥰)

      We live on a remote island in Alaska. We have a store, but it is very expensive. Food is shipped to the store the same way we sent our stuff home. We do not have a doctor. We have a high level nurse, but no doctor.

      I understand how it seems kind of wild. It is a very different life then most people live. My husband is actually just a teacher. We try our best to keep other expenses low so that we can get our food in bulk. Its really the same that others spend in a year probably even less, its just all at once.

    Hi Lewis fam-welcome home. I was shocked to see all the food and supplies you have in your house. But that means less grocery store visits, which I loathe. I order most of mine on the store app and then do store pick up. What does Bonnie think about being home now? Love Bonnie cam at the end. Take care, hope to see more soon.

    So question about cars. Do you guys ship a car from your home to the mainland or do you leave one on the mainland or do you just borrow/rent. I used to live on Martha’s Vineyard and it was a 45 minute ferry ride and luckily you could take your car (needed a reservation).

    • @LewisFamilyVlogAlaska
      @LewisFamilyVlogAlaska  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We have two cars in Kake and then rent or borrow cars when we travel. Sometimes we will take the car on the ferry, but usually only if we need it to be fixed by a mechanic.

    I just found you guys and was impressed with your haul, is it that there is no local supermarket at all in Kake or is it just really expensive and so much more affordable for you to do the bulk shop, the bike and microwave I am guessing you would class as special items and just not have the shops there that sell them, interested to know what your local facilities are like and does everyone do their bulk shopping like you guys

    Great vlog xx wanted ask and this maybe a stupid question so sorry but I'm nosey lol can u get like stuff amazon and eBay online stuff? Or does it cost u mega to get it x I'd love live where u guys r its peaceful and u don't have live in the rat race I live on a small island called Isle of wight it is heaving at mo as we have a festival going to happen the ferries to our island is the most expensive stretch of water in England I think I'm disabled so I don't get out much now but kinda like it when it's so busy xx u do so well and have a beautiful lil gal xx

    • @LewisFamilyVlogAlaska
      @LewisFamilyVlogAlaska  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi! We do order from Amazon and ebay. Amazon is usually free shipping, but not everything will ship here. Ebay, you have to be careful when looking, sometimes the shipping will be added later because we are out of there shipping zone or something like that. A festival sounds fun. I hope you can see a little of it. ❤️

    can i ask a potentially dumb question, are you not able to drive stuff in your truck back to your home? or is the issue going thru canada between washington and alaska?
    I will say I love that youtube put me on to your content, you are a lovely family! :-)

    • @LewisFamilyVlogAlaska
      @LewisFamilyVlogAlaska  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We can not drive all the way to our house, we would have to get on a ferry. We are just borrowing the truck. It is possible to take a car through Canada and then get on a ferry, but it would probably be more expensive then just sending stuff on the barge. Thank you so much, very sweet.

    Looks like y'all are pretty much stocked for a year.
    How often do you go shop for fresh fruits, vegetables & dairy?
    Also where do you go get it?
    Your daughter has grown so much! She's adorable!
    Do you live in your child home?
    5K really isn't bad considering all you & your husband bought & had shipped.
    It's nice that you help out your friends/family & visa versa. You help out each other and that's great!
    Thank you for sharing you life.
    I find it very interesting and it goes to just how spoiled I am having access to the grocery store and other stores whenever I need to go. Much respect!
    You & your husband make a great team! Stay safe! 🙏🏻

    Could you walk us through how you determine what you pick out (and quantity) when you do your dry grocery haul? I’m curious to see how this is done as I’m soon going to be living the farm life, and going into town for “more spaghetti” will not be as easy of a trip as it is now

    • @LewisFamilyVlogAlaska
      @LewisFamilyVlogAlaska  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure I am organized enough to explain it lol. I have watched my parents do it my whole life and kind of just go from what I know. Ill think about it some more though. That is very exciting. If we did not live in Alaska, we would probably live on a little farm :)

      School started on Augusts 18th. I think. In the summer we do not have to have anyone stay at our place. Just someone to come water plants every once in a while. In the winter we definitely have to think about that!

    • @LewisFamilyVlogAlaska
      @LewisFamilyVlogAlaska  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not thought much about it. We have staple dinners we eat often, so we kindof know that we eat certain foods often. Then with other things we just try to space them out so that way we don’t run out to fast.
