Round of applause for Mario, he stood his ground for the Mushroom Kingdom one last time even if it meant fighting his friends and family turned into reanimated puppets by a fiend wearing his face, even if he lost, he went out swingin’ and jumpin’. Honestly it’s cool to see he actually put up a good fight against his demonic counterpart, most .exes or doppelgängers alike normally are beyond the original’s power but that didn’t stop him.

Sonic also running could also be seen as a race/duel type of thing similar to what he does against Shadow or Metal Sonic especially since running is Sonic’s main trait. So in a way, both Sonic and Mario are dueling against their demonic imposters in the ways they best know how with their main traits and battle styles Edit: also wanted to point out that by dueling in their main traits and battle styles, they are trying to prove who is the better one. If 2 people claim to be the fastest, there can only be one and the only way to decide that is to race and to truly figure out who really is the fastest. If 2 players in a fighting game go in a 1v1 as the same character, the only way to decide who is the better player is to win that ditto battle. This mindset is essentially what is happening here with Sonic and Mario where Sonic and Sonic.EXE race to see who really is the faster and superior Sonic; meanwhile, Mario is battling in terms of power and combat battling to figure out who is the superior Super Mario.

So there’s a lot of comments saying how he’s so reliant on his souls, and people 80% chance may be right, but I think that he actually decided to bring his souls because he knows how hard Mario is to beat, and a plus is that they are Mario’s friends, even his brother, Mario wouldn’t want to hurt any of them. The reason why Sonic.EXE didn’t bring his souls is because he thinks he’s god and he thinks he’s so powerful he can do it on his own.
You can hear the emotion in Mario's voice after Luigi shows up. Seeing his brother fight on the same side as the imposter that tortured everyone he knows. Truly magnificent, well done!

I remember reading PS135's wiki on The Mario EXEcylopedia and it mentioned PS135's eye being vulnerable to fireballs and invincibility stars being able to kill PS135, so Mario would be able to harm PS135 since he has the fire flower here and if he gave PS135 an invincibility star, Mario would've won the battle.
Knowing that Oogtar is the only willing soul, PS135 probably had him get rid of all the Starmen in Dinosaur Land. If that didn't happen, Bowser probably took them as Fire said that the two of them made a deal.
so i have like 1 or 2 theories about this 1: this takes place after the main week, of course after MARIO IS MISSING, since the souls are here, and Playstation 135 summoned the souls to try and get Mario's spirits down, which I'm assuming worked judging by the ending. 2: This takes place before the main week, and the souls are an illusion made by PS135, which I'm leaning more towards, since they kinda disappear and then reappear in the song.
genuinely one of the best songs i've ever heard, and definitely you and the team's magnum opus so far. so many incredible moments, especially the SMW2 motifs that hit ridiculously hard, the Time Attack reprise, Oogtar and Yoshi's part and the Athletic reprise... well the entire second half of the song just made me ascend again and again basically.
I love how much effort was put into this. It's not just an average "Confronting Yourself" remix, it's something more original. Amount of love for the original source, PS135's voicelines, OG Mario interacting with TV Show Era characters (lmao), i love everything about this and it was the wait. Great job, Fire! (By the way, where does the "SuperMarioWorldFIXED.sf2" even come from? I can't seem to find it anywhere.)
you and polyfield have knocked it out of the park again! this is my fav Mario mix by far. the inclusion of Luigi, peach, yoshi and oogtar is amazing, the pixel section was really executed well, everything here is excellence. it may be cheesy to say, but this actually made me cry /pos. especially when luigi and pals showed up. this is an amazing song, and you, polyfield, and everyone else involved in making this should be proud of the work done here.
I like to think that the Mario we see at the end is actually playstation 145. I think this takes place after the main week and shows playstation losing control over Mario (who I assume is trapped in the forest). The Mario at the end is PlayStations damaged form like in the original Mario games. He took damage so he’s smaller. It’s probably not but I like thinking of the best. Either way though I don’t think Mario’s dead.
To be entirely fair that would be amazing to have happen and see how much damage ps135 took. Since hypothetically if you take damage your power state would decrease, but if I understood what he said at the end correctly (“you may rest now”) I unfortunately think mario got trapped. (Not killed, but definitely not in a good state [probably comparable to his brother to be frank.] but not dead.)

Your forgetting Sonic’s main aspect is running him running from sonic exe is like a duel type fight for him to sees who’s stronger him or the faker. But on the other hand Mario fights his faker straight up. Those are just their traits
since this is a Mario Mix, I think that the story of PS135 is the same as that of Xenophane, a space entity produced by antimatter, who discovers the Mario franchise and becomes a fan, adopting the figure of the plumber, and he gets a eye of the mouth as a birthmark, then he creates his world based on SMW, and kills the game characters to torture them one by one, first Luigi goes after Peach, and finally Yoshi, although I am not very clear why you put Oogtar, he wasn't in the original game, which makes me think of two theories: 1. Oogtar was created by Ps135 for the sole purpose of torturing Yoshi. 2. Everything takes place on a pirated copy of SMW, which would make more sense. maybe in that world, Mirror Mode Mario, is just one of the many lives that Mario lost, Ps135 taking his place, then Mario comes out of that abyss, ready to face the beast, but then Ps135 ends up transforming him into his slave without much difficulty. But Ps135 already has history? Or haven't you written it yet? I don't think you would win against a Messed up Mario Sprite, Dead Luigi, Peach with a Floating Head and a Dinosaur and Child that would tear you apart all at once. Unless you're really good at fighting or/and have a powerful power-up (mario for some reason DIDN'T bring a star power-up for a very easy win).

Its funny because in real life Mario completely surpassed sonic. But in terms of Fandom sonic has completely mopped the floor with Mario in fnf. But you single handedly made Mario more then just "a nock off of sonic songs" with your Mario mix's. You made Mario.exe a legitimate contender against sonic.exe and you did it in a way that feels like a passion project and not just for the sake of doing it for clout. Which is why I feel like your songs are so good. there is an extra level of care and attention to detail within the melodies that you incorporate within your songs that are very apparent. Keep it up.

WHO AM-A I? (Monochrome Mario Mix) Description:After the events of Mario is Missing, PS135 who lost to BF, even with the "help" of Luigi,Peach,Yoshi and Oogtar. Running out of opinions, used as a last resort, sent BF to an unknown world, "1- dlroW" via spawning a bottomless pit underneth him. "1- dlroW" was used by Nintendo as an area to store Unused/Unfinished Assets but PS135 now uses it as a prison containing his victims, though BF was able to walk around freely, heading to level "..." which was an empty black void (well the entire world was basically a black void.) I remember reading PS135's wiki on The Mario EXEcylopedia and it mentioned PS135's eye being vulnerable to fireballs and invincibility stars being able to kill PS135, so Mario would be able to harm PS135 since he has the fire flower here and if he gave PS135 an invincibility star, Mario would've won the battle.
Knowing that Oogtar is the only willing soul, PS135 probably had him get rid of all the Starmen in Dinosaur Land. If that didn't happen, Bowser probably took them as Fire said that the two of them made a deal.
so i have like 1 or 2 theories about this
1: this takes place after the main week, of course after MARIO IS MISSING, since the souls are here, and Playstation 135 summoned the souls to try and get Mario's spirits down, which I'm assuming worked judging by the ending.
2: This takes place before the main week, and the souls are an illusion made by PS135, which I'm leaning more towards, since they kinda disappear and then reappear in the song.
Theory 2 makes more sense because of the forest of illusions

genuinely one of the best songs i've ever heard, and definitely you and the team's magnum opus so far. so many incredible moments, especially the SMW2 motifs that hit ridiculously hard, the Time Attack reprise, Oogtar and Yoshi's part and the Athletic reprise... well the entire second half of the song just made me ascend again and again basically.

I like to think that the Mario we see at the end is actually playstation 145. I think this takes place after the main week and shows playstation losing control over Mario (who I assume is trapped in the forest). The Mario at the end is PlayStations damaged form like in the original Mario games. He took damage so he’s smaller. It’s probably not but I like thinking of the best. Either way though I don’t think Mario’s dead.
To be entirely fair that would be amazing to have happen and see how much damage ps135 took. Since hypothetically if you take damage your power state would decrease, but if I understood what he said at the end correctly (“you may rest now”) I unfortunately think mario got trapped. (Not killed, but definitely not in a good state [probably comparable to his brother to be frank.] but not dead.)

Your forgetting Sonic’s main aspect is running him running from sonic exe is like a duel type fight for him to sees who’s stronger him or the faker. But on the other hand Mario fights his faker straight up. Those are just their traits
since this is a Mario Mix, I think that the story of PS135 is the same as that of Xenophane, a space entity produced by antimatter, who discovers the Mario franchise and becomes a fan, adopting the figure of the plumber, and he gets a eye of the mouth as a birthmark, then he creates his world based on SMW, and kills the game characters to torture them one by one, first Luigi goes after Peach, and finally Yoshi, although I am not very clear why you put Oogtar, he wasn't in the original game, which makes me think of two theories:
1. Oogtar was created by Ps135 for the sole purpose of torturing Yoshi.
2. Everything takes place on a pirated copy of SMW, which would make more sense.
maybe in that world, Mirror Mode Mario, is just one of the many lives that Mario lost, Ps135 taking his place, then Mario comes out of that abyss, ready to face the beast, but then Ps135 ends up transforming him into his slave without much difficulty.

But you single handedly made Mario more then just "a nock off of sonic songs" with your Mario mix's. Running out of opinions, used as a last resort, sent BF to an unknown world, "1- dlroW" via spawning a bottomless pit underneth him. "1- dlroW" was used by Nintendo as an area to store Unused/Unfinished Assets but PS135 now uses it as a prison containing his victims, though BF was able to walk around freely, heading to level "..." which was an empty black void (well the entire world was basically a black void.)
While exploring the blank stage he found a speaker block which yelded the message "ITS-A ME...WHATS MY NAME?" Countining forward he found another "WHY CANT I REMEMBER MY-A NAME?" And then "WHO AM-A I?!?"
