Why won't the Red Line Extension continue all the way to Hegewisch? They are every bit as isolated as Altgeld and it's not much further away. Plus, by continuing to Hegewisch commuters can connect to the South Shore Line, for job and educational opportunities in Northwest Indiana. Also, has any thought been given to having Metra turn over the Blue Island Branch of the Metra Electric Line to the CTA, so they could build a second branch of the Red Line Extension, that would serve West Pullman? Metra has been drastically cutting service to the Blue Island Branch, and the Red Line Extension, as planned, runs right past the turnoff onto the Blue Island Branch, at 119th Street. Even more vacant land along the route to build plenty of affordable housing and develop commercial corridors. having a Red Line branch to Blue Island would also provide a connection to the Metra-Rock Island mainline, to commute to jobs and schools in the south suburbs.
:48 move closer to your school. its not the CTAs fault you live 3 hours from your school. first of all I'm sure that's illegal anyway. How far is her school if she gets home at 10pm every night just from having to take the bus from school? Its also been 10 years and this hasn't even broken ground yet.
The reason the Souh Side is a living hell is NOT because they don't have easy access to the subway. This won't change anything. Stop being so damn dramatic.
The South Side sucks because it hasn't seen any investment in decades. Efficient transit access, like the north side enjoys, is an important investment.
