    Get the slow drip hose from lowes, keeps your plants happy.
    They're called seeper soakers, harbor freight has them for 10 bucks!

    He's back! Yay! We missed you Paul but know you're super busy with the new baby. Lovin the green, purple and burgundy mix. I have the same in my FL garden and it's truly *chef's kiss*

    I have those purple plants in Jamaica - they indeed thrive on neglect lol

    I have the cordlyne in Jamaica too, yes regularly get to 10ft. I planted two already at my new house and I have like a dozen potted to plant out later. They are really hardy and really easy to make new ones.

    A new Plantu! Dawg. those banana trees will get huge in that moist corner. The fruits are small and seedy, inedible but still cool for the tropic vibe. It's best u put those canna in a temp logged in bed cuz the tubers spread. They say fall is the best time to plant shrubs and trees. "Urth es ma Plont"

    Amazing job! You've given me the incentive to risk it and plant my tropicals in the ground, here in san antonio, I have everything in pots and move them all to my garage in the winter cause I don't wanna lose them, I'm gonna try this year since I've been propagating some of my plants to save some during those unespected freezes, thank you

    Great plantings. Take care tho with thick mulch like that. Easy for the root ball to come in contact too much with it. Causes drying out. Also ties up nitrogen and starves or "burns" plants.

    Another good purple shrub for Houston is lorapetalum. It has hot pink flowers.

      It's also called Chinese fringe flower. There might be different colors on the flowers nowadays.

    You are right about the banana plants soaking up the water. However, you need a protected place ( Southside) to get bananas. I've never gotten any but it had produced the flowers just could not make it thru winter. Love the Salvia, tradescantia, all of it! 🤞👍

      @@paulplantu yes we don’t always freeze here. But the last 2 years we have. I’m hoping we don’t freeze this year so I don’t have to scramble to move plants. My husband and I always procrastinate with moving my plants, I have way too many that are not freeze hardy.

    Hey Paul. Hope your regularly watering the Carex. They don’t like to dry out. They are one of the easiest to grow. You have to keep in mind what can be under planted under trees bcz most tree roots zap water from other plants. That’s probably why they are dying especially those that require moisture. Surprised why you don’t plant ferns. They spread quickly & easy care.

    • @paulplantu
      @paulplantu  ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re right I wasn’t watering then at all 😂 They’re looking good now though! I don’t plant germs because they tend to spread a little too much for my liking

  • @rdemm05

    I love the bird of paradise! But If they won't get full sun where you planted them they won't bloom well for you 😔 I'd consider moving it if it won't get enough sun before they get established. My grandparents planted theirs where it was sunny, but their palm trees grew large and shaded them so they no longer bloomed, I moved them into full sun and they bloomed a few months later.

    • @paulplantu
      @paulplantu  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I planted them there more for foliage than flowers but I may buy another to plant in full sun for the flowers like you suggested! Thanks for the advice
