India hosts largest number of elephants of any country in the world outside africa, 95% elephants are in forests in herds roaming freely. elephants are worshipped in India. Elephant headed Ganesha is one of the most popular deity in India.
Yeah but Lord Ganesha is not an elephant His head is just of a elephant so plz Also when did we start to worship Elephants when did that happen I am a Hindu but I never heard what u said
@@vebbym467in Indian culture you have the freedom to choose which deities you want to worship create your own in India deity or not to tworship at all. there are lot of Hindus who don't worship but call themselves Hindu. in India deities change from region to region. just because you haven't seen elephant being worshipped that doesn't mean they are not. anything and everything can be worshipped here.
Yes and we also have people who dont care any of this and just abuse the animals for money. We Hindus are not the same what we used to be. Money corrupted our kinds and now its just profits.
I understand it's natural for someone to think the elephants are being ill treated, but trust me, of all the "work" elephants in the world, these elephants live the best lives. Because 1. They carry just 2 people which is hardly 120-150 kilos together. In other places on earth they are made to carry logs that weigh in tonnes 2. You must visit these elephant facilities on spare days. They get the best of treatment. They are bathed in river, taken for a swim, attended by vets. 3. They are fed the best quality foods. If you saw even a female elephant had tusk, which says they get enough nutrition, because that doesn't happen in wild. 4. They are government property. 5. They are often taken for walks in forests, or left in forests for somedays. In this way they breed with wild elephants and continue the population. Or sometimes they are freed when they are past 50.

Nicole and Mico, thank you so much for your videos, as well for the tips Mico shared with me over TripAdvisor! We went to the Golden Triangle in early April and had a great time. We contacted Dinesh for the auto rickshaw (tuk tuk) services. That day he was busy, but he sent his nephew, Sharuk, who was very friendly, taking us to Amer Palace, Jal Mahal, etc. In the end he took us to a textile store where I ordered tailor made shirts. Indian Elephants have a history of being petted through immemorial number of generations. These pet elephants are raised by, fed and taken care of very well in a very personalized way. They get to live with their family. Every elephant has a dedicated human friend called "Mahut" who is the caretaker and also driver of that elephant. This is quite a natural and loving relationship from both ends and a very old bridge that Indians have established with them.

please visit Ranakpur Jain temple and Kumbhalgarh Fort near Udaipur in rajasthan. Ranakpur Jain temple is best and most beautiful architecture remaining in North India. the temple has 1444 columns each one of them looking different than others with intricate details. the audacious architect built it such way that if you remove one column the entire Temple must come down. that too was done at a time when other parts of India was under foreign rule and thousands of temple were getting destroyed. Temple has a total of 84 underground chambers built to protect idols of the deities from destruction. its over 600 years old but still looks like it was built yesterday. Kumbhalgarh Fort has the second longest wall in the world after Great Wall of China.
Wow that sounds amazing! We aren't going to be able to go to NE India on this trip, but we are so excited to come back and visit another time! We have had so many people tell us we need to go there, so we definitely will one day!
this is the culture where there were temples dedicated to animals everywhere on ancient times. then foreign rulers came who had religions with one God that too up in the sky. they destroyed all the temples ancient temples, killed the people with those traditions and destroyed this culture a lot. still if you visit deep down south India you will see lots of temples dedicated of of animals even in Rajasthan there are lots of animal temples.
Nicole and Mico, I just love your delivery style, factual and impartial. Several weeks ago, I watched your Machu Picchu vlog, and posed a few questions to you, which you had so graciously responded, swiftly, I might add. My husband and I did visit Machu Picchu, it was everything that I had imagined/anticipated. We call Toronto home, and we will continue to support your vlogs. India has never been on my bucket list. Before our trip to Vietnam and Cambodia in October 2013, we visited a Travel Clinic in Toronto, and per their counsel, took Dukoral, Twinrix Hep A & Hep B) and Typhim vaccines recommended for a tropical climate. Did the two of you seek out medical advice and received specific vaccines before departing for India?
Hey there, so glad to hear you have found our videos helpful and that you had a wonderful time at Machu Picchu! Before leaving for full time travel we got a whole load of vaccines so that we would be safe to visit anywhere. That included Yellow Fever (which is required for visiting India) as well as rabies which was just an extra precaution. We also got Hep A/B, and tetanus boosters. The only one we don't have is JE and so far we haven't been to areas where that is a big concern, but if we do we may try to get that one during our travels
I can't believe a country like India with 40 UNESCO world heritage sites, nude beaches and skii resorts was not on your bucket list. One place in India which is like Cusco in Peru is Shimla in India. It looks like the Western media has demonized India and Indians. Also some frugal vloggers spend only 5 US $ a night and stay in bad hotels in shady areas in India. So this would be like spending 50 pounds a night and staying in a place like Brick Lane in London and judging England by your experiences in Brick Lane. There was a made in India Covid vaccine called Covaxin, I took two shots of it and it was awesome. Unfortunately many people in the west haven't even heard of it. Just type Vice News India and Al Jazeera India and see 90% of the videos are fake news. I remember once ex Canadian PM Stephen Harper was talking to Indian intellectuals and they were complaining about the Western media to him and how the Western media has demonized India and Indians.
@@webabhi Please accept my sincere apologies if my remark sounded like an insult to the Indian culture. I've travelled to over 50 countries, including Egypt, Turkey, Russia, Morocco, yet personally I have an aversion to rats running wild in temples, aggressive monkeys snatching food from tourists, etc. These may be warped/biased views, from a personal perspective, which stemmed from what I've watched (self-selected). Please don't allow my personal biases tarnish the western media in one giant, brush stroke.
@@julielook6005 So you are talking about Karni Mata Temple near Bikaner, do you realize that India is a united gigantic Yugoslavia? India also has Mosques, Churches, Hindu Temples, Bahai Temple, Jain Temple, Sikh place of Worship called Gurdwara etc. India also has the 7th largest mosque in the world. What I am telling you is what Nicole and Mico have also seen in India. If you want free Indian food in Canada you can get it in Gurdwaras. One of the best Gurdwara is in Amritsar called Sri Hari mandir Sahib. Also Nagaland in India has Bapist Majority Christians, Mongoloid people who look like Hakka Chinese and cool weather. Then there is Mizoram where people look like Thai and are Prebysterian Christian. Just search Nagaland and Mizoram online you will see how diverse India is.
Quick fact :- Hawa mahal got its name because it's the largest building in the world ever created without any foundation at all in the bottom, hence people used to say that it feels like the palace is levitated and waiving in the wind hence from there got its name !!
Go to north east india. Experience peace and cherry blossoms 🌸, transparent rivers, clean streets. Those are the best place of India and mostly untouched by tourists.
Do explote north of india ... Shimla manali.. and other beautiful places.. and nort east of india i am sure you gonna have a whole new perspective about india
if you visit ancient South Indian temples most idols you will see are of elephants. they are not for decoration people worship them. in most of the world elephants are gone. in India they are thriving because Indians know how to treat animals including elephants. 8% of total world's biodiversity is in India.
Amen on the elephant rides. Wish I could find a place to ride them in a sustainable, humane way, but most are not there right now. 1 day is not enough. We are trying to get there during Holi in 2026 on our RTW trip. Cheers to your travels and channel. We are just getting started.
Sadly there's not really a place we can recommend as well, many placed don't seem trustworthy. Even those that call themselves a "sanctuary" we've heard are just in-name only 😔. Regardless it sounds like you have a great trip ahead of you! Enjoy your travels!
@@nicoleandmico Keep in mind Varanasi is one of the if not the oldest city still thriving so you will find very narrow streets instead of very wide roads. It has its own charm , its very spiritual there. Enjoy your journey.
9:01 it is because before that time for hundreds of years India was under Islamic rule who came from Central Asia and they enforced women can't be seen in public. before that there was not any such rule.
While I feel you guys about the elephants But You should know that elephants are not native to Rajasthan. So probably this is the only way they can survive. Either this or the zoo. Sad but how it is unfortunately. ❤
It is too bad they were brought to Rajasthan to begin with. Do you know if they were brought there for use as work animals? In our experience with elephant riding around the world, the animals are taken from their homes from this purpose which is very, very sad
@@nicoleandmico earlier these elephants would have been part of armoured cavalry in maharajas armies, 10s od thosands killed during battles. Historically fetching tourists up and down the forts would be considerer humane treatment. Nowadays, most maharajs run hotels and restaurants. So that is good news at least.
@@nicoleandmico Well, India has had huge history with Elephants.Precisely why Alexander couldn't enter India because Greeks had never faced war elephants. And this was 2300 years back. Later, his successor Seleucus married his daughter to Chandragupta Maurya in exchange for 500 war elephants which helped Greeks in the Mesopotamian conquests. Also, animals in India are treated with respect. Be it cows or elephants, they get the first meal and then the family eats. It's part of the culture. Precisely why we have deities based on animals. :)
those are not wild elephant, those are domesticated elephant who dont know how to live in jungle just like horse. why you never question about horse who kept in very narrow place like 2× 8 feet area in entire world. is this not a animal abuse? if you really want to see some wild elephant than go 50+ elephant sanctuaries in india where you can see actual wild elephant.

What do you mean by indian standards ,we can afford it. One correction there are still royal families living here , n many of the palaces they have turned into restaurants.
On the visitors book you should write your concerns about the Indian Elephants' plight. This is absolutely cruel towards the elephants or any animals to say the least.
Agreed. Clearly the People of European origin should civilize the Indians. I remember seeing horrse drawn carts in the UK when I studied there in the 50's. Also when I see the films of the poor horses, thousands of them lying dead in WW-1 after battles where were you guys? As if there was/is no cruelty in White European and Americas' .Also teache us hygiene. Whites civilized us only partly!!!

@@nicoleandmico a Canadian couple already visited Northeast India. here it is-th-cam.com/video/AQ_rUqNu3gY/w-d-xo.html
Really cool video, waiting for the Goa series✌️
Yes! Goa will be coming 😊😊
After your train video, you uploaded this video a little late. I was worried.
Goto chittorgarh, udaypur, jaisalmer. Also try chandigarh, Rishikesh.
this is the culture where there were temples dedicated to animals everywhere on ancient times. then foreign rulers came who had religions with one God that too up in the sky. they destroyed all the temples ancient temples, killed the people with those traditions and destroyed this culture a lot. still if you visit deep down south India you will see lots of temples dedicated of of animals even in Rajasthan there are lots of animal temples.
So sad to hear about all the destroyed temples 😔 we have visited a few already and they are so beautiful.
did you go to jaipur markets??
U missed Udaipur its full of water places
Must Go😊
We'll have to save it for a future trip!
@@nicoleandmico Nicole and Mico, you two are THE REAL THING!!! Keep on travelling and sharing your adventures with your followers!
Just search Nagaland and Mizoram online you will see how diverse India is.
love frm india..
Thanks for watching!
You Guys should have tried Night Desert Safari !!!
Ooooh that does sound cool!
Good idea!
Quick fact :- Hawa mahal got its name because it's the largest building in the world ever created without any foundation at all in the bottom, hence people used to say that it feels like the palace is levitated and waiving in the wind hence from there got its name !!
We had no idea! Thanks for sharing that!
Go to north east india. Experience peace and cherry blossoms 🌸, transparent rivers, clean streets. Those are the best place of India and mostly untouched by tourists.
We can't wait to visit the NorthEast one day!!
@@nicoleandmico it's the best time to go there
Do explote north of india ...
Hey if you'll be in varanasi then pls don't forget to check out Prayagraj, if you can go there at time of Magh Mela
❤️❤️
Very nice
I love your videos guys ☺️ 💕
Thank you so much! We are glad to have you joining us 😁
👌👌
Very very nice video Sir/Madam
Amen on the elephant rides. Wish I could find a place to ride them in a sustainable, humane way, but most are not there right now. 1 day is not enough. We are trying to get there during Holi in 2026 on our RTW trip. Cheers to your travels and channel. We are just getting started.
Sadly there's not really a place we can recommend as well, many placed don't seem trustworthy. Even those that call themselves a "sanctuary" we've heard are just in-name only 😔. Regardless it sounds like you have a great trip ahead of you! Enjoy your travels!
@@nicoleandmico Will do. I wish the same to you guys. Keep traveling and having fun.
Good ❤❤❤
Very nice plece
Really excited for Varanasi vlog 🤩🤩🤩 one of the best place on earth
Yaaay! Us too! It'll be out on Wednesday!
@@nicoleandmico Keep in mind Varanasi is one of the if not the oldest city still thriving so you will find very narrow streets instead of very wide roads. It has its own charm , its very spiritual there.
Enjoy your journey.
I agree! Very neat place!
I can never click my couple pics in front of so many people….with weird poses😂😂😂
The people getting their photos done havw such confidence! They were rocking it 😊
9:01 it is because before that time for hundreds of years India was under Islamic rule who came from Central Asia and they enforced women can't be seen in public. before that there was not any such rule.
Thank you so much for sticking up for the lovely elephants. Wish they would ban that ride!
We wish they would ban it too 😢🤗
Nice
Explore south side of india 🇮🇳 too
We will be soon!
While I feel you guys about the elephants
But
You should know that elephants are not native to Rajasthan.
Hello... I. M one little TH-cam'r
.. And big fun... My from location Jaipur❤❤
those are not wild elephant, those are domesticated elephant who dont know how to live in jungle just like horse. why you never question about horse who kept in very narrow place like 2× 8 feet area in entire world. is this not a animal abuse? if you really want to see some wild elephant than go 50+ elephant sanctuaries in india where you can see actual wild elephant.
I’m so worried about the elephants. So cruel.
Us too 😩
Single day cant do justice with Jaipur
We wish we could have spent longer exploring!

Plz come to Uttarakhand Nainital ❤️
Would love to visit there!
Sir it may be your first time watching commercialisation of Elephants but India has a long history of commercialisation of them.. Indian kings always used huge number of elephants.. In Kerala they have pet elephants
Don't mind, elephants are taken good care of here.
What do you mean by indian standards ,we can afford it. One correction there are still royal families living here , n many of the palaces they have turned into restaurants.
It's not that Indians can't afford it, it's that compared to other Indian tourist attractions the city palace is more expensive. Thanks for watching!
On the visitors book you should write your concerns about the Indian Elephants' plight. This is absolutely cruel towards the elephants or any animals to say the least.
100% agree! We didn't write it in the book but we included it in our video for this reason 😔
😎🙏🏻🇮🇳😍😍❤️❤️🥰🥰!
It's called terracotta pink...
Just wondering this video doesn't look recent, the apparels does not fit in this season, you and others in the video are wearing T's and shorts in winter, cant be anytime recent, must be from summers, not later than October i believe..Why posting old videos and where you guys are now, which country??
Hey there, we filmed this in mid-October. We have filmed lots and it takes a long time to edit, but we are doing our best!
Looking forward to your Sunday Video's than, not sure if your itenary is already planned but if it is kinda spontaneous and you are okay with sub zero temperatures, plan some days in Himalyas, its heaven up there, especially this time, come to Solang Manali for starters - Paragliding, Snow scooters, Cable cars and what not, just an advice don't defer it to January as it would be extreme temperatures that time. You can try Plains in January, winters are extreme in plains too in Northern India but nothing like Himalyas. Plan accordingly. Have a good one.
Thanks for the awesome advice! We didn't make it up north during this trip (because we went south instead) but already we plan to come back to India one day to explore more. There's just so much to see in such a big country! It's amazing 👏😍
Come to Hyderabad.... taste it hyderabadbiryani....🤝
Op
All those kings 550+ gave their kingdoms n many palaces etc. to govt in 1947..they gave up for democracy n their ppl 🇮🇳
🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🚩🚩🚩🚩
Please come on punjab
Why can't that water be clean?
Its amazing that in 2023 people in india still want to take pics with light skinned foreigners. Indians have a thing for lighter skin. Very overt. Its all over the culture, particular in arranged marriages.
