    So beautiful! I visited with my parents in '96 from the U.S. and of all the European cities I have seen, I hold Lviv in the top three most stunning, even though, at the time, most of the buildings were in pretty bad shape or were being restored, I will never forget my time in Lviv! Hope to visit again someday soon!

    Lviv is my home city. I was born there and every year go back to spend one week in my beautiful city. I love to walk around and get a "filizanky lvivskoi kavy".

    Takie piekne polskie wspomnienia o Lwowskiej operze, ktora Austro-Wegrzy zbudowali a polacy polki tam tancowali. Az sie serce rwie! Sento i SlawPol to wspanialy duet komiczny, cos troche napomina mi Pat i Patachon. Very entertaining, very charming! I wish you success together! - in Warsaw!

    Panowie maja racje! Byla to wysoka polska kultura, ktora, mam nadziej jeszcz kiedys wroci - do Polski. Kobiety i meszczyzni zucali sie po pociag kiedy Kiepura wyjezdzal!

    No to byś pomyślał od czego ta nazwa pochodzi i kto to miasto założył?
    Skoro tak uważasz, to chyba Wrocław, Szczecin i Gdańsk też należy oddać niemcom? ;)

    That's very true. I overlooked Copernicus. My apologies.
    Well, certainly the most important astronomer. Like Chopin and Curie he is immediately identified in the world as Polish.

    The old town has been built by Austrians. Poles have built couple of blocks too, I think Elzbieta has been erected by Poles, for instance? I've got old Austrian pix - the old town looks exactly like now. Then Soviets have turned Elzbieta to warehouse and Dominican Cathedral to the museum of atheism. And after USSR collapse we Ukrainians have turned the city into one huge bazar. Shame, the city is really beautiful - it will take couple of generations before we learned how to maintain it.

  • @375015568
    @375015568 17 ปีที่แล้ว

    Exactly. Aside from the Lviv issue, Poland and Ukraine have plenty in common, especially with the rise of new and aggressive Russia. If Poles understood that in 1920-30's perhaps they would have supported independent and strong Western Ukraine and Lithuania, and not waged war to polonize and exploit them. Today, Poland has a 2nd chance.

Genialny czlowiek. Ironia? Nie, po co pan taki negatywny? Powtarzm-polska kultura najwyzsza i najlepsza na swiecie. Lepszej nigdy nie bylo i nie bedzie. To tylko podziwiac! Serce sie rwie! Narazie dowidzenia.

    Lviv was first built by ukrainian kind and then polish king came and destroyed it. And now it's a city built by austrian kaiser, not by polish government.
    But Lviv always was a real ukrainian city, always took part in life of Ukraine. Remember Franko, Grushevskyj, Shuchevych.
    I love austrian buildings and catheldrals but I also love people who are proud of Ukraine, its language and culture. We were half of our history under Poland, Austria and USSR but we saved our nationality.

    Lwów (or Lviv as you want to call it) maybe is now in borders of Ukraine, but that city was built by Poles, and soul of Lwów is polish. Like walls and buildings. Remember that.

    Take it easy pan Levtubski...Your own comments fall into the "dumb category" right now. Your own aggressive comments are on You Tube are for everyone to read. What exactly is your problem? You Tube is a forum of free speech. What name calling? There are some sharp disagreements between Ukrainians and Poles about the past, but we all agree about the future of Poland and Ukraine. Cheer up!

    Panowie! Pan Slaw bardzo dobrze rozumie o czym mowimy. Nie rozumie roznicy "historia" i "historija"??? Nawet w Polsce takiego mozna nazwac idiota.

    This is the Polish logic and the Polish joke. Then Poland should have no problem returning German territories taken after WWII, Slask and Pomorze. Those are the German kresy and belong to the German people, not to Poland.

  • @375015568
    @375015568 17 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm afraid yes. He is a nobody outside of Poland, as are most of writers and musicians. Mickiewicz, Slowacki and even Sienkiewicz are little known and nobody is interested, even if their works are available. Of course there are exceptions---Polanski, Kosinski, Conrad, to some extent Grotowski and Milosz. Not Szymborska. Chopin and Curie are perhaps best known. In order to be famous, Poles had to move out of Poland. Cheers.

    Now, just what kind of a staement is that? Poles occupied and exploited Ukraine for centuries-and denied the Ukrainian people all the basic rights that Polish Roman Catholics already had. Polish history, written by Polish government and the the Polish church is only the Polish view of history, which is not acceptable to Ukrainians. Unlike on U-Tube, Ukrainians had no voice in Polish history. Poles pretended that Ukrainian people did not exist, when in reality they were the majority in Galicia.

    A to jest wkasnie pana belkot, ktory trzeba przetlumaczyc polakom, bo nie wiadomo o czym pan mowi. Niech pan ze siebie nie robi to co nazywaja w US "Polish joke". Moze dla pana polska kolonizacja i polonizacja w Galicji byla zartem, ale ukraincy sie z tego nie smieja.

    Haha keep fooling yourself. Lviv was built by Danylo Halytski in what was part of Kievan Rus lands. The only time the poles managed to get their paws on the city was when we were under distress. Lviv is the nationalist capital of Ukraine and they would be damned if Poles and Russians ever tried to take the city again.

  • @375015568
    @375015568 17 ปีที่แล้ว

    Let's take Slask and Pomorze away from Poland, because those are the German "kresy." Warsaw and Cracow are Polish, but not Lviv.

    Львів ніколи польським не був і не буде! А може скажемо що Краків - український? І Перемишль, і Ярослав.
