Exactly. You're within like $100-200 of a full fledged laptop at that point. And so then why not buy something like the Framework 13 which you can use as a laptop now, and then convert to a mini PC in a few years.
Not actually too bad. You will get your money back on your electric if you live in certain countries at the minute. As APUs get better more and more people will move away from tower PCs. People are just waiting for that APUs that can deliver. What has pushed APUs on massively is DDR5 becoming standard.

It's weird that I'm always seeing those "great mini PC but it could be better with (specific spec)" comments on this channel when a new mini PC is released. Beside the HX99G, there will never be a mini PC with the perfect specs. Just buy whatever's current.

Please on the next video about emulation, would be nice to at least mention the average fps 1080p on botw-cemu and totk-yuzu. Im currently looking to buy one of these for playing zelda at 60fps 1080p on my TV with batocera-linux for a more console like experience.
I'm hoping we start seeing products with the 7945 and 7845. Having a 24 and 32 thread Ryzen mini pc would be great for production and light gaming on the side.
Power consumption is also important for people who are 100% off-grid, so all of this computing and graphics power for under 100W it's really amazing. Is there even a CPU + external GPU that can equal or beat the 7840HS for 100W or less?
Thanks for the video. Is there any possibility to lower the idle power consumption? I mean this is a laptop apu, right? No Laptop would manage to get any good battery life with that amount of idle power draw.
Hi there. Just my 2 cents. But see things like APUs...Even with current consoles (Switch/Xbox OneS/ PS5 and XboxOne on "Quality" Modes) aiming for 30fps some times, apart from competitive games and FPSs, you really should try and aim for a locked 30fps for single player type experiences in your benchmarks. Forza, Red Dead and Cyberpunk are good examples. A lot of bargain basement gamers don't mind 30 fps if they can play the latest games (just ask Xbox One S users). I'd love to see the graphics cranked up at 1080p or higher to see what these games can achieve on these chips. I just think 1080p/30 fps is a more realistic target on APUs as opposed to the holy grail of 60fps. Know what I mean? PS Love your channel. Watch almost everything you post. The latest handheld PCs really intrigue me. Keep being awesome.
the proprietary power supply is not good, finally usb-c is somewhat unified to be able to deliver upto 100W so why go backwards? also can you confirm the usb-c ports support video output? looking for a tiny one with four monitor support and most have dp+hdmi or two hdmis and one usb-c with dp support but nobody can confirm if it supports MST functionality to connect two monitors via daisychaining
Couldn't agree more. I have a LG monitor which can deliver 100 Watts. With two USB4/c at the back, it would be very handy. However, the specs say: USB4(40Gbps/TB3/PD100W/DP1.4) There's no mention of PD/ALT-mode (the video out and powered by monitor), aka one cable solution. Its main rival, the Minisforum UM780/790 does show this on their website: USB Port x2 (Alt PD). Sadly, only located on the front, which is fine for an external GPU, but less ideal for a monitor connection. Anyhow, I'd like to see if the Beelink supports this too
The magnetic power supply lead appears to be something you can bypass with different wiring. Is that something you can investigate to see if that is the case? Or is this a loaner that you have to send back? Proprietary power supplies or other components are a deal breaker for a lot of people. Brings up the bad memories of Compaq, HP, Lenovo, etc.
I would love to know how well it can use hardware transcoding in Jellyfin, I read that AMD had issues before but maybe that changed with the new hardware…
Man I really like that case the vent is slick but some of these mini's are going for just as much if not more than some PC'S with more core's and a removable GPU'S.

4:06 according to SPECs is so fast than a RX 7600 with 32 RDNA3 CUs or RX 6700 40 RDNA2 CUs with GDDR6 and large amount of infinity cache will easily be 3 or 4 times faster instead of being 1/3 or 1/4 than a PS5, we are talking about PS4 or Xbox Series S in best case scenario... How much faster is than an Ipad/Iphone or MacBook/MAcMini? Faster than a Qualcom with Adreno 4? but how much more and doing what? Is so fast than is clearly slower than a Ryzen 5000HS/HX/HS/U with a RX6600M?
I really like the design of Beelink Mini PCs. I recently bought a GTR6 Pro 7735HS which included a USB 4.0 port. It was terrific value for money. I originally replaced the installed Windows 11 Pro with a gaming focused Nobaru 37 Linux distro which installed out of the box. Beelink also provided good and prompt technical support when I needed to reinstall Windows 11 Pro. This new Mini-PC looks to be an excellent unit. I am really interested in the GTR7 Pro Ryzen 7940HS. The 2x USB-C ports are USB 4.0 on the GTR7 Pro 7940HS, is this also true for the GTR7 7840HS model?

I really don't get the magnetic power input, why not simply make it PD USB 4? PD can charge up to 130W now. And they should have tuned the power consumption to run on 90W and 65W so users can do one cable with more USB C monitor.
what the sence to change resolution for each game. who would play diablo in 720p? Show how it plays in 480p so much sence in it. with 80Watts power consumption it cant be remote or treated like Steam Deck. So show it like it was meant to - desktop 1080p.
Do you get better performance disabling any of those CPU cores? It seems like in a power/thermal limited package, 8 cores would be overkill and possibly could hurt performance.
I have the GTR6 Pro, but unfortunately i was unable to get the BIOS to run this 64GB kit faster than 4800, maybe it doesnt like redline memory, maybe the 7735HS/6800HS cant drive 64GB at those higher speeds(kit is rated for 5600 but BIOS resets itself even at 5000), i really wish there was a slightly larger barebones that had a better board for better traces, and fullsized dimms with cooling like these beelinks. Imagine 7800C36 on these little monsters.
How reliable are these little things, trying to help a friend out as best as I can. He just wants something simple and not too complicated, that he can afford and will allow him to play a few steam games.
Honestly the price difference between the pro version and the minisforum UM790 just doesn't seem worth it. Sure the Beelink has some nice features like dual 2.5G lan and a fingerprint reader, but I can't see those being worth the almost $200 price increase. Maybe if the Beelink gets better performance thanks to better cooling?
I have an Asus pro art usb-c monitor which has specs that say it can deliver a total of 90w over usb-c (higher than the usual 65w of other monitors). Would I be able to power this mini-desktop over the USB-C of my monitor, or does it absolutely require using the external plug?
While you are at it, can you pick some games that you can run via Proton on Linux and compare the performance ? I have the 5600H on Linux and so far I am amazed how well Proton is doing on Linux. Maybe I was just lucky with my game selection but so far everything worked 100% ....

I would really like to see a Linux review on this one. I would guess that it would need a new distribution such as Ubuntu 23.04 or Fedora 38 for all the new hardware.
Another great one! So.. for SF6 why does it look so INCREDIBLY soft? Does low just use like FSR automatically or something? You say 1080p but that looks like.... 480p, where other captures look native.
Why are you not mentioning that this minipc has power issues? If you run benchmarks like cinebench, it will randomly reboot the system, as the power supply included is too weak.
im hoping someday that amd or intel will chuck the cpu cores in favor of gpu cores rather than keeping them somewhat balanced. the 780m is supposedly faster in some respects than the old rx 480 but still not as good in games. what im looking for is something that can run vr games in a tiny efficient package.

It would be great if you could test these mini pcs for streaming and content creation purposes too. Such as using it as the only device for both gameplay and streaming (and obviously video editing) or using it as the second pc in dual pc streaming setups (with help of external capture card). I kind of lack the budget to upgrade my current pc and wondering if these mini pcs would be a help for me or not (I also don't have space for a second mid tower case in my room). Thanks
I don't think it is that powerful for video streaming + game play at the same time
A humble request I can feel the neat look with the white background of ur video but it hurts while I'm watching ur video during night can u plz use some other color as the background
Beelink made a big deal about how quiet their fan is. It’s worth testing this claim.
I am waiting for a minipc with an apu that can be a comparable alternative game console to the ps5 but running steam. Maybe another year away?
I'm curious to see if this thing can play Diablo 4 at full 1080p. Could be pretty nice!
Admittingly, a bit of an overkill, this mini pc will eventually replace my current HTPC. Powerful enough as a media server to stream 4K/120hz av1 and x265 media real-time while also functioning as a network backup DAS, plus plays the occasional game as a bonus. It's too pricey at the moment but I'll keep an eye out for price drops.
You have priorities straight AV1 network streamer & Nas what software you running for media server bro & how many members sharing that
I wish someone can add AI client or a scheduler that goes to links & download stuff at night,Or at least shift the intranet load
Have you heard of melondream?
@@dinozaurpickupline4221 Currently running a Plex Server and JRiver Media Center for audio, although Roon does look interesting. Just a small home 8-10 device network. More as a hobby than anything else.
@@dinozaurpickupline4221 I haven't done heavy daily downloads as of late. I may get back to doing more when I upgrade. AV1 has sparked my interests again.
I love the idea of these things but the price is truly staggering.
What has pushed APUs on massively is DDR5 becoming standard.
always awesome reviews
Loved it, especially the color, this thing is a beast, would definitely like to see Linux running on it.
price is similar to an ROG ally and performance seems about the same. Hard to justify when i can buy the Ally and it comes with a nice VRR screen and controller as well.
Yeah I was gonna say pretty much this.
mini pc is the future, I really hope low end mini pc has thunderbolt or usb 4. or even a m.2 slot but in a form of SD card slot.
does the manufacturer provides support for the pc? especially bios updates?
Can you test some Ray tracing settings, would like to see the impact on new RA cores
I know it’s a big ask, but I’d love to hear about how Final Fantasy XIV (the MMORPG) run on handhelds and these APU PC’s.
Even just one alliance dungeon plus Limsa Lominsa (Atheryte area) during peak hours would give FF14 players a really good idea about the overall performance
Great mini pc, can imagine performance would be better with 7500mt RAM 😊
It's weird that I'm always seeing those "great mini PC but it could be better with (specific spec)" comments on this channel when a new mini PC is released.
Beside the HX99G, there will never be a mini PC with the perfect specs. Just buy whatever's current.
@@astrals6807 the problem is, since you are sharing system ram with GPU, you want the fastest Ram available DDR5X @7500mhz, I don't know why they keep putting 4800mhz or 5600mhz ram.
Look at the Aya Neo 2S with DDR5X 7500mhz ram, the performance is fantastic.
$789.00 USD
On your next video, please show the cooling system under the top of the case. :)
Please on the next video about emulation, would be nice to at least mention the average fps 1080p on botw-cemu and totk-yuzu. Im currently looking to buy one of these for playing zelda at 60fps 1080p on my TV with batocera-linux for a more console like experience.
Not a big fan of proprietary power connectors, but I'm cool with it if you can also power it through USB-C.
You can't
I'm hoping we start seeing products with the 7945 and 7845. Having a 24 and 32 thread Ryzen mini pc would be great for production and light gaming on the side.
Power consumption is also important for people who are 100% off-grid, so all of this computing and graphics power for under 100W it's really amazing. Is there even a CPU + external GPU that can equal or beat the 7840HS for 100W or less?
Hi I don’t think you mentioned whether the HDMI will do 4k120……..thinking of using this for gfn ultimate
Thanks for the video. Is there any possibility to lower the idle power consumption? I mean this is a laptop apu, right? No Laptop would manage to get any good battery life with that amount of idle power draw.
The 8840 version of this will be crazy good. 4 more cores, 4 more gpu cores and a litle bit of rdna 4 magic to boost the rdna 3 goodness we have.
The dips of the low 50 arent a problem with a freesync screen. The PC support that. So you also not need Vsync.
the proprietary power supply is not good, finally usb-c is somewhat unified to be able to deliver upto 100W so why go backwards? also can you confirm the usb-c ports support video output? looking for a tiny one with four monitor support and most have dp+hdmi or two hdmis and one usb-c with dp support but nobody can confirm if it supports MST functionality to connect two monitors via daisychaining
Couldn't agree more. I have a LG monitor which can deliver 100 Watts. With two USB4/c at the back, it would be very handy.
However, the specs say: USB4(40Gbps/TB3/PD100W/DP1.4)
There's no mention of PD/ALT-mode (the video out and powered by monitor), aka one cable solution.
Its main rival, the Minisforum UM780/790 does show this on their website: USB Port x2 (Alt PD). Sadly, only located on the front, which is fine for an external GPU, but less ideal for a monitor connection.
Anyhow, I'd like to see if the Beelink supports this too
Thank you for the great content.
would be appreciated if you could include SSD read/writes tests and the disk model as well.
Yes, yes yes overclocking⚡️⚡️⚡️
can it run nfs unbound?
The magnetic power supply lead appears to be something you can bypass with different wiring. Is that something you can investigate to see if that is the case? Or is this a loaner that you have to send back? Proprietary power supplies or other components are a deal breaker for a lot of people. Brings up the bad memories of Compaq, HP, Lenovo, etc.
Does lowering the wattage below 65W also reduce the GPU performance?
I would love to know how well it can use hardware transcoding in Jellyfin, I read that AMD had issues before but maybe that changed with the new hardware…
nice video, love this mini pcs, this has support for egpu? would be nice to have a video testing this kind of performance
Man I really like that case the vent is slick but some of these mini's are going for just as much if not more than some PC'S with more core's and a removable GPU'S.
This would be perfect for a diy handheld or small laptop would love to try it.
What a SUPER cool lil PC
Needs a Proxmox treatment. This would be a great server hosting machine with 16 threads. It would be nice to test Plex transcoding too. They had some good developments in making RDNA GPUs transcode video.
IDK. I'm thinking that orange adds like, 3-5 fps.
Better they added SD card slot. Anyway, the box can be interesting for some people.
Please, external GPU test, if possible... That was a direction I'm looking at versus a full desktop (microATX)
Every day comes the next best thing. Kind of sad but great video.
Nice overall package. But these AMD APU's in mini PC's needs more advanced cooling to show their true performance. Good review as usual 👍
According to their specs, the 2 rear USB C ports on the 7840HS model are indeed USB 4.0. The front is just listed as USB C so not sure on that one.
It looks great, the io is ample and the gaming looks good.
Not quite there yet. 1080p/40-60gps/High is the sweet spot.
this one looks so fuckin good for NO REASON LMAO the plug!! itd be nice if there were one w/o the logos
I'm really excited for the Dragon Range Desktop Versions
And high clocked DDR5 Ram
Aside from the regular review, what any analysis of the phoenix apus with XDNA? What advantages or disadvantages of that? Any apps using that? We all already know zen4/rdna3
Dude it'd be great to compare this with Z1 extreme Rog Ally. A side by side test would be great. It'll garner insurmountable views to you. Please Dude. Do it for us.
These thing is a beast 🔥 temp only 65°C play tripple A games 😱
I really don't get the magnetic power input, why not simply make it PD USB 4? PD can charge up to 130W now. And they should have tuned the power consumption to run on 90W and 65W so users can do one cable with more USB C monitor.
Great Video🔥 please make more Linux setups 😉
what the sence to change resolution for each game. who would play diablo in 720p?
7840HS is basically a 7840u with higher TDP right?
Honestly the price difference between the pro version and the minisforum UM790 just doesn't seem worth it. Sure the Beelink has some nice features like dual 2.5G lan and a fingerprint reader, but I can't see those being worth the almost $200 price increase. Maybe if the Beelink gets better performance thanks to better cooling?
The Minisforum versions TDP is 54w with a 65w power brick by all accounts. Therefore it's significantly restricted.
@@DanielMartin1974 I was under the impression the minisforum one is 120w power brick, not 65w
@@vascr0 i think you're assuming a previous video was the Minisforum product, it wasn't. This info was direct from Minisforum when I asked.
Cant wait to see emulation performance under Linux
I have an Asus pro art usb-c monitor which has specs that say it can deliver a total of 90w over usb-c (higher than the usual 65w of other monitors). Would I be able to power this mini-desktop over the USB-C of my monitor, or does it absolutely require using the external plug?
While you are at it, can you pick some games that you can run via Proton on Linux and compare the performance ? I have the 5600H on Linux and so far I am amazed how well Proton is doing on Linux. Maybe I was just lucky with my game selection but so far everything worked 100% ....
I wish I knew the best mini PC for my TV. Right now I'm just playing on PC, Steam Deck and Switch, I'd like to put another small form factor PC for my TV
Do any of the 3 USB C ports support Thunderbolt? I was kinda disappointed by this not being a feature of the GTR6 that I bought back in January,.
Seems like a nice miniPC for the living room. Slap SteamOS on it and run EmuDeck and you are golden
Looks decent and sort of low price. USB 4 that is Thunderbolt 4? So you can hook up an External GPU? Or you could hook up PCI 4 SSD with this to occulink? But the RDNA 3+ GPU is like a GTX 1060 card? thanks for explaining...bye
Or if you use one of the ports of the minipc to charge another device.
Because this is advertising
im hoping someday that amd or intel will chuck the cpu cores in favor of gpu cores rather than keeping them somewhat balanced. the 780m is supposedly faster in some respects than the old rx 480 but still not as good in games. what im looking for is something that can run vr games in a tiny efficient package.
I am planning on buying the 7940 HS mini PC.
Thanks for your video, wich SSD 2280 is in place with thi mini pc ? A crucial or another ? Speed. HAve a nice day
I was wondering if this could be a suitable replacement for a 2015 shield box? With the right OS.
Now for a emulator/movie box this should be great. But for my wife I sometimes need to edit some videos and on our old laptop that takes long. And if I mess something up have to do it over again haha. Would this pack enough power to do some video editing? Not professional. And also I would like to see what kind of games it could play if ur lucky enough to have a full size gpu. Over usb4. Hooked up
I really want to see emulation performance of this cpu. I am planning to buy lenovo loq with same cpu.
How is the bios updates and support from Beelink?
