    Really enjoyed that update! You really don't realise just how much of the vessel is underwater, and just how big a job it is to maintain it! You've both done a cracking job. It's fantastic to see you both so happy! x

      Thanks Stevie G! Glad you enjoyed it. We are so glad the boat yard is done and now back in the water. Now we just need the weather to warm up!

    Thanks for answering my question - look forward to the planning episode when it arrives. My Etap came with a Volvo folding prop, which is a great asset. Has the saildrive gaitor been changed recently? I think mine's at least 10 years old (they're only supposed to last 7) but seems ok so not sure if I should just get it done now before it's a problem or wait another year. I also need to get the rudder bearings checked - the maintenance certainly goes on and on.

      No the sail drive gaitor has not been changed, not sure when it was done last but it seems ok at the moment so leaving it for now. We might have our rudder bearings done next time we haul out.

    Very interesting update!! Sorry I missed you at the weekend!! Did you say you’re calling at seahouses or Anwick? Both are lovely. Xx

      Hi Anne, glad you enjoyed it. We are heading up that way, we will probably stay at Amble for a bit. We are coming back over within the next month so hope to see you then. Xx

    Well done! The anode looks interesting and rather awkward to put on. Do you have to take the prop each time to change it? On the other side - at least you will not loose it as it happens to our, which is like a two part anode you put on the shaft and screw with screws. When we take the boat out (roughly each year), there is no anode on the shaft at all. So we do not know if it is getting eaten or do we loose it? No perfect solution I guess :)

    • @GavinAndJames_LifeAfloat
      @GavinAndJames_LifeAfloat  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, yes you have to take the prop off each time to change the anode. It should be really simple but because the prop had not been off in years and was knackered it made it quite tricky. Hopefully now it’s all sorted it should be easy to do next year. Our screws had disappeared on the anode too so even though it was there it wasn’t doing it’s job.

    Have you guys consider a canvas winter cockpit enclosure? I'm in the US and unfamiliar with costs for such an item in the UK.

      We would love one, just a bit costly for us at the moment though. It would be the framework that would be quite expensive. It would give so much more space in winter though. We have a cockpit tent for summer which we are looking forward to using again.
