    I have had Verizon 5g home internet for about 2 years now and I'm very happy with it. I lost my Internet only once and for a few minutes only, with Xfinity it happened several times, mostly when it rained. My speeds are anywhere the 150 to 300 Mpbs range, I have no problems doing 2 or 3 streams at the same time. My recommendation for speed tests, do it at different times and from different devices, both wired and wireless to get an accurate measure of your real speed. I do recommend Verizon 5g, it has worked great for me.

    I live in Rural Arkansas, had Verizon 5g for a year now beats the hell out of the DSL service I previously endured, only had a scant few hiccups at first, mostly my fault. had to position unit on east side of my house before I got any decent signal as my tower is some distance away, and ever since verizon finally upgraded the firmware for this device allowing IP passthough Ive had no failures except during power failures. get 300Mbps down and 25 Mbps up, only slows to around 200 on rare occasions. only using this as a modem. its been stable, much less expensive as other options available to me, I'm happy with it.

    I setup today and i ran hourly tests while streaming netflix on 2 devices and i got a fairly consistant 250-300mbps down and 20up even during peak time. I am not sitting on or directly near a tower but there is one about a quarter mile away. Happy enough that i cancelled Spectrum. Hopefully the service doesnt let me down because i really dont want to go back to Spectrum

    I tried one of these for several months. Setup was easy and speed tests came in as high as 250 down and 20 up, but often as little as 3 Mbps download. As others have mentioned the 5G box gets the lowest priority on the tower. Even when the higher speeds were present my streaming on just one TV would buffer often. Although they advertise no data caps, I seemed to get stuck at 3 Mbps service after 300 GB of usage every month. I actually contacted their help desk, one day when my service was running slow, and they told me I was using too much data and maybe this solution was not right for me. If you already have Verizon service and get the $25 price point, this may be a decent internet only solution if you already have satellite tv and rarely stream. The good news is no contract. I was able to return it and cancel service easily.

    • @hairpunut
      @hairpunut ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They cant do that though?, Because its a no cap service, with no limits. So im sure you can sue for false advertizing.

    • @limburgercheese1234
      @limburgercheese1234 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@hairpunut Their fine print and disclaimers are pretty solid and I don't see a clear way to prove the discrepancies. The real oddity is how hard they push a service that doesn't seem to cost enough to make a profit, as well as the credits to cancel cable. A side note: I spoke to and IM'd their help folks a number of times trying to troubleshoot spotty service and was actually successful in resolving some things but overall the service was pretty unreliable.

    I am telling people now that I have Verizon 5g home internet and I am getting 300 MPBS download and 14 upload. I am not one that uploads huge files so that speed dont bother me. I have the Askey cube and it only gets maybe 1 bar or -112 db which is poor but it still remains stable at all times with very little down time. I have a lot of stuff hooked to this and it does not even lag the speed. Seriously Verizon has this down good.

      @digitalmauss for sure. I didn't order til I ran enough speed tests on my phone to be confident in the speed consistency. I got my Verizon home internet gateway in December of 2022. At first it only worked in my office/gust room on LTE and got 40 to 50 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload. At that point they had only activated one local tower for C-Band. I called at talked to a very helpful and nice rep who made sure it was provisioned right and had me move the gateway. On the window ledge of my bedroom I was able to get full 5G speeds. 300 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload. I moved it to my dresser and got the same speeds. By March I was able to move it to my desk and get the 5G speeds again. C-Band is very directional on the gateway and the antennas on it are on the side with the red Verizon symbol. I use it as a backup to my Spectrum cable internet which has fairly consistent speeds of of 400 to 560 down and 18-22 Mbps upload. My condo HOA updated our Bulk contract to include 500 down and 20 up internet in September of 2022. Were you testing with the 5ghz channel on the Verizon gateway? I get way faster than the 300/20 speed that the C-Band 5G gateway is set for on my iPhone 14 Pro where I can see over 500 mbps download speeds.

      461 down and 19 upload on my Spectrum cable internet on my MacBook Pro. Current speed using my Verizon Gateway is 284 down and 7.40 mbps upload. I have rarely seen the download lower than 250 when I test it.

    From what I was told, by a sales rep at the Verizon store, the Home Internet DOES NOT use the same cell towers as the phones do. They have their own dedicated cells spots. Maybe that's why you're getting better readings with your phone. May I ask where you are located? Suburb or inner city? I'm in a suburb outside of a major city and tried this out over a year ago. I was getting the same results as you were so I returned it. Curious, what band were you testing from? 5GHz? 2.5 GHz? Random? Would like to try again, but not sure I want to go through all the hassle of signing up, testing and possibly returning it again .

    • @digitalmaus
      @digitalmaus  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In terms of bands, I didn’t set the gateway to 2.4ghz or 5ghz. According to the manual its supposed to have a SON (allegedly)that allows devices to move between 5GHz and 2.4GHz automatically. I just followed the installation instructions. I guess i was hoping everything would work as described. Great Question though thank you for watching and contributing!!!

I got the 300 mbs plan and while it isnt as consistent as when I used Xfinity it doesnt get any slower than 1/2 what I pay for and seems to be more in the evening when it runs slower but I can still do anything I did with xfinity 500 mbs only more than 1/2 the price so I will take it.

    This device has been a godsent. I live out in a rural area in the United States. I have great mobile internet connection. But to far out for broadband service or provider. I tried the internet satellite with the dish. And it was a total nightmare. Then I heard about this device and decided to give it a try. It has worked better than I could have imagined. I have contacted over seven devices to it and no problems with speed. And for the base price of sixty dollars a month, unlimited internet and plus no contact. I recommend this product to anyone living in the country or rural areas.

Did you try getting Verizon's help in troubleshooting the download issues? Also making sure it had the best line of sight to your home Verizon tower? Also, check the frequencies your gateway is connecting to.

      @@digitalmaus Bummer that it didn't work out. I guess the only options at that point would have been to reset the gateway altogether or have Verizon send a replacement Gateway. Also, it may be worth trying the Verizon home internet again later in December this year. Verizon will be adding an additional 80 to 140 MHz of 3.7 GHz spectrum to its 5G UW on air. They currently only have 60 to 100 megahertz total. So they will be upping the total spectrum on air to between 140 and 200 megahertz. Should see Peak download speeds of up to over 2 GB per second depending on tower backhaul.

    Verizon 5G home is the biggest mistake my family made in regards to internet services. We switched from Spectrum home and AT&T phone to Verizon for both last November and our internet has gotten worse on both fronts. I'd be lucky to have 1 mbps upload and less than 1k ms of latency. The customer services is terrible as most companies. When I called to ask why that was the case and questioned if they had good coverage in our area, they just said yes and told me to turn the router on and off again (which was the first thing I tried). I have moved the router to various places around the house and it is still not delivering anywhere close to the speeds we were promised.

I live 2 minutes from downtown L.A. and will expect at least 100 mbs down and 15 mbs up straight out of the little Verizon Box placed near any of my windows. One of the issues with 5G home is I believe prioritizing of data. I think home internet is low. I tried it myself. I have Visible for my phone. My phone connected at 5G so I figured it would work well. Well it did work but was not reliable at all times of the day and evening. I would test the speed at almost 200 down and 30 up around 4 or 5pm. Everything worked well. Then evening came and every evening after 8pm we couldn't even stream a TH-cam video or anything on Paramount+. Web page's loadings slow. We could stream music some but every evening it was almost as slow as i remember dail up. Our Comcast was more consistent and reliable.
