This moment is the highlight of gaming direction for me. The way everything changes the moment Cortana shows up. That music transition. Fuck this was perfect
First time I played thru it, it was hard to place the feeling, but I actually got *Destiny* vibes, where humanity is in a somehow even more desperate situation than in Halo. This was mainly due to the way MCC was rolled out to PC(Reach first), and I had played Destiny 1 on PS3 when it first came out. But damn what a scene.
what a treat this games campaign was.... all of the fighting for reach, all seemingly for nothing, leading up to this mission and getting that giant insight of 'ah-ha!' and realising it was setting the stage for the og trilogy that came before it... just a true masterpiece that I wholeheartedly WISH i got to experience for the first time again.

He’s been trying so hard to keep it together for Noble team throughout the war yet here the hopelessness almost gets too much and he just wants the Dr to tell him everything will be fine. Her answer, we will survive for no other reason than we simply have to, is probably only half reassuring.
Noble 6 probably played dead with armor lock and the covenant probably ignored him due to the fact dead spartan 3s were everywhere, he’s a lone wolf and... Spartans never die.
The use of the leitmotif for Cortana's appearance here is what gives the moment such emotional weight. Anyone who's played through the original trilogy and got to this scene gets hit with the emotions every time. While I personally think Halo Reach's story was a bit of wasted potential, especially when compared to what Nylund gave Bungie to work with in the books, this moment right here certainly makes up for it. And it's almost entirely carried by the absolutely brilliant score.
One of my favorite parts in the whole series. Once I realized why Cortana was created and the importance of this mission/campaign. Really enjoyed this story/game.
I loved this cutscene, it combined new and old music together to form something special, along with Halsey speech saying that they can not afford to loose Cortana. This is beautiful, something familiar with nice music that can be remembered. Thank you bungie, For everything

I know there's no reason for Noble team to have an emotional attachment, but after so much death and loss, seeing Cortana and knowing the stakes was like a lagoon in the desert.
I just realized, right before Halsey put Cortana into the containment unit, she looks down to her and waits for Cortana to nod her head as if to say she was ready.

Watching this scene again reminded me of how important Cortana was to humanity. She is not just Chief's trusted partner, she is what Halsey and Keyes tell us: *A defense against the Covenant, a GAME CHANGER* and an AI with immense knowledge capable of directly aiding humanity She was the one that led the Pillar of Autumn to Installation 04 She was able to access the Covenant battle network on Alpha Halo to get valuable intel like where Keyes was taken, where the ring's cartographer was She led the Chief to finding the Flood Literally saved the universe by preventing the ring activation and the others following suit when Chief introduced the index in the Control Room Helped the Chief locate and damage the pulse generators of the ring so Spark would have to repair them Got a grip of the Installation's teleportation grid and warped Chief from the control room to the Truth and Reconciliation And thanks to all that they managed to destroy Installation 04 before the Flood escaped it Aided the chief and the human fleet orbiting Earth again with valuable intel when the Covenant attacked Mombasa, when everyone found Delta Halo and pursuing Regret until he was dead Guided the Chief through High Charity and stayed behind just in case she needed to blow up the In Amber Clad to destroy Installation 05 if it was going to fire, a plan that woulve ended her existance too probably Then, even when trapped inside the now Flood infested High Charity and watched by the Gravemind, managed to slip a message not only warning humanity about the holy city in hands of the Flood but also revealing that the portal of Voi leads to The Ark to stop Truth from activating the Halo Array And finally, keeping to herself the activation Index of Alpha Halo allowing for the humans to light the replacement ring, destroying it and clearing the Ark from the Flood infestation She was a fundamental element of the trilogy, humanity wouldve been fucked without her and she was a big part of the reason why humans and Elites allied to prevent the rings from firing and not allowing the Flood to escape from any Forerunner installation (except Delta Halo but its not her fault that Miranda and Johnson were captured, leaving In Amber Clad at low orbit and wide open to attack and it crashing inside High Charity while Truth was heading for the Forerunner ship and Earth) When she says to John: "You did it. Truth, and the Covenant, the Flood. It's finished." That wouldnt have happened without her. And seeing this moment, her entrusted to Noble team to be the final straw of Reach to humanity along with the team themselves, and knowing everything that came after, it's really touching to me seeing her here moments before she embarked on the Halo journey. The soundtrack is perfect too

Sorry I'm a bit dull but can someone explain to me why SPECIFICALLY the AI Cortana was so important on the magnitude Halsey was explaining? She's describing her as the end all be all
Cortana was an exact replica of Doctor Halsey's mind, coupled with advanced computing and processing power. This included knowledge about ancient technologies and formulas that most scientists couldn't grasp during her time. Halsey is literally a God tier scientist, think something to the effect of the knowledge and know how collectively of every scientist who created to first nuke in the Manhattan Project x10. Now give that brain the ability to compute faster and learn quicker past the limitations of the human body and boom, you literally have an informational analyst who can learn and grow to the needs of any given situation. This is the best explanation I can give you.
Because she essentially is; More power, more memory, faster speeds, better programing, more levels of near-human emotion, brand new technologies, let alone every single piece of data ever recorded for humanity. Not to mention, she's possibly the first A.I. made from brain matter not from a corpse. Halsey flash-clonned her own brain to make Cortana.
The entire OST is 'The Package' from the Reach soundtrack, but the motif that you hear when Cortana appears is 'Keep What You Steal' from Halo 3, though a bit different.

Sorry I'm a bit dull but can someone explain to me why SPECIFICALLY the AI Cortana was so important on the magnitude Halsey was explaining? She's describing her as the end all be all
Cortana was an exact replica of Doctor Halsey's mind, coupled with advanced computing and processing power. This included knowledge about ancient technologies and formulas that most scientists couldn't grasp during her time. Halsey is literally a God tier scientist, think something to the effect of the knowledge and know how collectively of every scientist who created to first nuke in the Manhattan Project x10. Now give that brain the ability to compute faster and learn quicker past the limitations of the human body and boom, you literally have an informational analyst who can learn and grow to the needs of any given situation. This is the best explanation I can give you.
Because she essentially is; More power, more memory, faster speeds, better programing, more levels of near-human emotion, brand new technologies, let alone every single piece of data ever recorded for humanity.
Not to mention, she's possibly the first A.I. made from brain matter not from a corpse. Halsey flash-clonned her own brain to make Cortana.

The entire OST is 'The Package' from the Reach soundtrack, but the motif that you hear when Cortana appears is 'Keep What You Steal' from Halo 3, though a bit different.

Agreed friend. Infinite was one of the biggest flops 343 ever produced. I was so disappointed to see how the game turned out on release.

She was purple in Halo CE, to which this is a prequel.
KeystoneAgent she was also purple in halo 2 I’m pretty sure purples her true color but I think over time and I’m not sure if this is true an AIs color fades and distorts as it ages ?
