@@rvanness 'Weird' was not the right word. What I meant was this family history ( which I thank you for!) seems separate from the times in which they lived. I live in DC and know area. One thing which I did not know was how Arlington city was named as I assumed it was named by early settlers, not by GW's adopted son. Just an aside I knew the direct descendants of the Carroll family . They had a few stories of GW's land speculation.
