    One of the best urethane reviews and comparisons ever. Thank you!
    I honestly liked how smooth and subtle and controlled the Pink Widow's response from the outside was.
    You just kinda got it tumbling early and sat back and watched it pocket magnet. Like I remember those pancake urethane balls from the 80's did.

    Note: The 14lbs. Purple hammer bowling ball has a different core than the 15 & 16lbs. ball, not sure if the 14lbs. ball has a different look going down the lane? The pink black Widow has the same gas mask core in 14 - 16lbs. bowling ball 🎳 good review 🎳👍

    Nick said nay! Use it all you want jn league... so I did! (Weds. 5/3). Pink widow urethane for 300 second game. Don't think the pink widow is not a great option just because it isn't purple! Pink has its place and when it matches, look out!

    I have both pink n purple since last June. Both excellent balls. D difference I feel in real world on d lanes is:
    Pink hooks earlier n then straightens out but is better suited to heavier and medium to longer oil patterns while purple is perfect for shorter patterns and makes a better shape to the pocket. But both balls when used in the right situation work excellent. Purple is def more versatile than the pink!

  • @BobsWoodStuff

    I like the purple a lot; it is vey solid. But sometimes if that shape isn't working, it is nice to switch to the pink for its slightly different shape.
    Both are great balls.
    The pink is currently about $50 cheaper online, so that's something to consider for bowlers on a budget.

    So many of the pros are using the Purple Hammer when urethane is called for. But that Pink Widow looks cool. You might be the lone person throwing pink in league. And that just may be a good thing.

    Older lefty. I have gone completely urethane, all 14#. Double Cross-low flair; Attitude Control-mid flair; and Black Widow Pink-max flair. For me, much more able to manage the lanes and reduce instances of over-under. Plus, urethane balls seem to be much more durable than reactive balls.

    Out of the box I found the pink to be way too early, similarly to the gem but urethane. The purple has been way more consistent and retains its energy better. What's difference between the original green pin and this new purple pin? Is just visual to help determine the new purple hammers that are legal with the now 6 month urethane exclusion?

    Id like to see a pin up/pin down or high flare low flare layout comparison of the attitude control.
    I have mine pin below the bridge, flares a ton and the flares curve, almost s-like, the ball reads at 30-35 feet almost no matter what. Loves the oil, as long as it is right of 15. And a blast to loft gutters on wood!

    Thanks for this vid, Nick! A few questions about urethane lane play:
    1. You mentioned that moving in, isn't a great idea with urethane. Could you elaborate why this is so, please?
    2. When you 4-9'd with the Purple, you moved back right, got it to the 5 board and destroyed the pins. Would you say that this is a good adjustment when splitting with urethane..moving way back right instead of the inside?
    3. What are some common signs a bowler should look for, to tell
    then it's time to "get out of" urethane?
    4. With resin, we always talk about "arsenal sequencing", "balling up", and "balling down." With the availability of older urethane balls on eBay, for example, plus the rash (no pun intended!!) of modern urethane options that are available, could a bowler build a urethane-only arsenal? If yes, would would you recommend in that arsenal and what sort of general sequence would you recommend, as far as which urethane ball to use when, since the differences are subtle, as we saw in this vid, compared to resin, when the differences ball to ball are usually very obvious?
    5. I appreciate you saying that you have nonissue with urethane on house. I'm a high tilt lefty, low rev, ball speed around mid 15 mph on the monitors. For me, I find that with the decreased left side traffic and my lower revs and ball speed, I can't generate what modern resin balls seem to require, unless the conditions really match up. Urethane, seems to blend out a lot of the house shot over/under slop. Thanks for rebutting the constant comments of "urethane doesn't belong on house shots and should only be used on short or low volume sport shots. To borrow an older word, balderdash!

    • @brunsnick
      @brunsnick  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      1. Most people don’t have the rev rate to get the ball to slow down, change direction and get through the pins when throwing urethane. The ones that do have the rev rate know better than to try. You want to create as much entry angle as possible and that usually comes from starting the ball much further out towards the gutter.
      2. I was too far left where I started to begin with. I usually pick that line for every video to start. I generally will only play urethane out closer to 1st arrow.
      3. If you’re trying to match up throwing urethane and you can’t get the ball to slow down early enough, then it’s time to try something else. If you have to “thread a needle” to get it to the pocket, you’re in for trouble.
      On the other hand, if you’re lined up with urethane and you’re wondering when you should get out of it, then it depends. If the ball starts reading too early and you find that more ball speed or a little loft isn’t working, it’s time to consider moving in some to find more oil to work with. Once you open angles up too much, in my experience, it’s time to get into resin. You’ll find yourself flat 10, 2 pin and 4 pin when it’s not right. (As a RH)
      4. I don’t think a full arsenal of urethane is applicable to most people for a tournament. Someone like Packy will have multiple Purple Hammers to use, typically with a slightly taller pin placement and to have a fresh cover to go to. That’s also common since you can’t hit surface during competition. Another thing pros are doing is having a 16lb and 15lb Purple in the bag because the 16lb will flare slightly more.
      Hope that helps! Use urethane as you please! You pay the same league fees and entry fees as anyone else. If anyone said I was wrecking their line, I’d just tell them that they have been evicted. Find a new line.

    • @nevinkinzel
      @nevinkinzel ปีที่แล้ว

      Another thing to consider on the Urethane arsenal building is that USBC has imposed a two-year age limit on urethane balls. So, the older urethane balls are no good for sanctioned leagues/events and you would have to replace your entire arsenal constantly. Not great if you're bowling on a budget.

    • @brunsnick
      @brunsnick  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nevinkinzel not true. PBA made that rule for the PBA National Tour. USBC you can use anything urethane for as long as you want. The only balls non conforming are the Purple Hammers with serial numbers starting in 6 and 7.

    • @nevinkinzel

      @@brunsnick Ah. My bad. Thanks for the correction!

    • @joehoenig7596
      @joehoenig7596 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nevinkinzel Sorry, that is not correct! The only urethane balls currently banned by the USBC, are the 2016 and 2017 Purple Hammers. The two-year rule you are referring to, only applies to the PBA National Tour. It does not apply to the PBA Regional, PBA50, PBA60, PWBA, or to any sanctioned USBC leagues or tournaments. As far as USBC Nationals, the USBC is conducting random ball
      hardness checks at Nationals, of balls that have already been approved by USBC. If, a urethane ball that was previously approved, is chosen for and fails that random hardness test, that ball will be disqualified from use at Nationals. It will still be permitted for use in local tournaments and leagues.
