It’s like no one here really knows what’s going on with this job as a whole… workers pocketing money and the owner barely understands what’s happening to his own house.
He got $1,000, Contractor got $4500 minus costs of parts and other miscellaneous costs, so basically what he would have been paid for the job. Sounds like a bad way to business, all money should be going into the company account and withdrawing needed money from there.
yeah I think it's pretty obvious that the old man was and probably had been taken advantage of for a long while.. but the guy in green wasn't a sub-out 🤷 makes it worse I suppose
Why does the defendant keep moving his tongue around like his teeth fell out while he was sleeping? The guy with him doesnt even look like his mouth is moving. Strange
The defendant realizes that he looks foolish on television for not knowing a THING about what was going on, and for apparently and unknowingly allowing the electrician to pocket money behind his back. I agree with JM, you need to “get connected” sir, because the electrician knows how disconnected you are, hence the reason he took liberty with your profits.
For anyone thats think it's a joke to be laughing at the defendant medical condition, i really hope you get whatever he has medically. Put yourself in people shoes
Whats his medical condition? We should not assume, for good or bad, what wasn't told to us. I say this as someone who has an invisible disability. It is not fair to assume ANYONE medical condition based on looks alone, espically considering the stigma around the sick. It is one of the things that make it hard for people with invisible disabilities to get the help needed in todays society.
At first I thought the defendant was right, because they are knowledgeable electricians, and should know what they are doing, and homeowners are misinformed . Then it turns out that they installed the main panel/fuse box too low . Who has to eat the costs to do the job again? The defendants blame the main contractor - but they are the ones the bear responsibility for it. To fix it cost a new contractor 4300 - but that was with additional things as well . The judge estimated the cost to move the box again to a new location to be $2000- rough estimate- ie estimate the costs of the additional things to be $2200 . It would be hard to say exactly how much , unless one knows the details of what the materials cost, and the details of what was done. But that was rough Justice .
Tax payers pay to raise homes for people that decide to live near the ocean? $118k of tax payers money? I say if you made a decision to live there, you decided to take your chances to incur the expenses of living there.
The defendant's witness says he NEVER received the additional money and then when it is proved he did, he goes on to say it was for other work, so he DID receive it then. Sounds like the employee is either very crooked or he is in on it with the owner and they are both crooked and pocketing it and not declaring it as income. The defendant's facial expressions makes him look like he is about to drop dead at any minute...
defendants are completely confused by the basic math.....kinda scary for an electric business. aaaaand....old guy doesnt seem to have a clue, and 'the voice' guy comes across more than a little shady.......old guy needs to either retire, or fire the 'voice' guy. every single thing the 'voice' listed as 'extra work' was obvious to everyone that that's part of the quote at the beginning. that hole he is digging under the house is getting deeper and deeper with every word he speaks!! yeppers, JM, good work!! caught the 'voice' red handed, pocketing the money!! poor old guy, he's clueless. reconnect indeed!!
SMDH THE DEFENDANT WAS CLUELESS ABT HIS OWN BUSINESS. THE "EMPLOYEE" IS POCKETING $$$ OVER CHARGING. THE PLAINTIFF HAD ME TIL THE EXTRA LIGHTING BUT OVER ALL GLAD HE GOT BK SOMETHING
I completely disagree with the judge only awarding the plaintiff $2,000! 1200 of that was money that he should have never paid then he paid an additional $4,500 to the second company for work that failed inspection on the defendants part, even if she didn't want to award him the full 4500 I would think that bare minimum he would be allowed 32000 for the new work that needed to be done in 1200 to replace what he paid above and beyond the first company.
I work in electrical sales and the plaintiff made quite a few major mistakes. Sure the first electrical firm are complete crooks but home owner is his own worst enemy. What he should have done was either have the main contractor directly organise the electrical work and be responsible for the whole issue or if he wanted to control the subbing at the least have the main contractor draw up a detailed list of the exact items, line by line which needed to be done then present this as the basis of the contract. If he wanted any additional work done over above this, get this again agreed to in detail and price set before paying a cent over. Leaving the the very loose wording has let the crooked electrician (who seems to essentially operating independently of the owner of the firm - probably due to not being a fully certified electrical contractor himself) also get away with massively padding the original pricing. It was still recoverable if he got the new electrical firm to detail what hadn't been completed - which they did and then include a detailed list of the new work. Having these very loose, open statements in the contracts mean JM could only guess what was done by either company and she cut the body in half to reach a rough decision. Lifting a house with disconnecting and reconnecting electrical connection then throwing in extra work is big job and you first probably have someone overseeing it who know a bit about contracting/ and or electrical work. Then prob don't award it to the cheapest company who quotes, particularly if they present like the 2 cowboys the defendants very obviously are.
