Being 1 year older, I started with the cartoons. 1st album was back to the egg. By 1980 had all the albums (Beatles and all solo) Also Helen wheels was on the Aussie version of band on the run. Great show.
A+ Show! Totally enjoyed the podcast. When Ken mentioned Beatles Forever book by Nicholas Schaffer - I had to go find my copy and take a look at it again after so many years.
I have seen Ken Womack on my digital screen 📺 three 3️⃣ times this week. He is always such an amazing 🥲 guest. Side two 2️⃣ of Wildlife is truly superior with three lush ballads in a row and then Dear Friend. No other band had 5 5️⃣ number one ☝️ hit albums in a row in the seventies. Red rose 🌹 Speedway is far superior as a double album 💿 with contributions from Denny and Linda.
Superb show guys. Ken's knowledge is immense. Interesting that I discovered Wings in a very similar way. Reading reviews, ignoring them and buying these records out of chronological order. London Town was my first in real time. Great conversation as always
Awesome show! I totally could relate to what Dr Ken Womack lived through. Many of the memories were very similar since I was also born in '66. Ken in the south and me in the Bronx.
@2LegsAPaulMcCartneyPodcast yes, exactly (just in the Bronx). My brother being a professional musician and background singer had all types of music playing including Wings, Beatles, Motown etc.. Great times for sure.
I totally agree with Ken Womak, with London Town, I played Girls School to teens and they loved it at the time, Back to the Egg, Goodnight Tonight, the Christmas Song, Daytime Nightime Suffering, the songs grew and matured so well, Wings Greatest one of the all-time best sellers, the Singles were fantastic and Radio Play all the time throughout the decade, I feel the exact feeling with Ken Womack.
I think if you combined the best songs of Wildlife with the best of Red Rose Speedway you would have a killer album. All the great melodic songs & rockers without the weaker, less developed songs.
I totally get why we all like to "trouble shoot" the solo careers and 'fix them" to make even better outcomes, but it's a bit silly when it's trying to rethink Paul/Wings in the 70s. If Wild Life was an odd place to start, it sure didn't hurt him like Some Time in NYC would hurt John, for instance. Paul's whittled down Red Rose was number 1, as Andy points out, so it's a bit wonky to try to fix that now. For what? I don't miss Seaside Woman. It's a nice outtake for us now. I'd rather have more Paul material, like 99% of the fans would say. On the other hand we could say lets fix George's solo career. He should have put out a better record than Dark Horse and waited till his voice was healed on that record and waited to tour, and rethought, maybe, the nature of his tour and set list. And what was he thinking with Extra Texture? Well recorded but blah. And those records marked the public moving on. Something to fix there. Wings/Paul in the 70s was pretty great without us fixing them. Just my two cents. I love getting into these chats and I enjoyed this one from you all, but sometimes I think some perspective is missing.

I knew Ken was a big Beatle fan, but had not known that Paul was his favorite. This show was a revelation, not to mention a lot of fun! Thanks!
Thank you Susan! Nice to have Ken talk Wings outside of Beatles talk!
Terrific discussion
Thank you Ted!

Very nice of you Jeff! Thank you for your support of the show! The Beatles Forever, a must own! Any pre-1980 text really is essential! Take care! Andy
Great discussion with a great guest.
Fascinating discussion. Wish it was longer
Thank you Chris! I will be doing more with Ken this year at Fests and other stuff near the end of 2025, stay tuned!
Terrific conversation. I am 2 years younger than Ken and so much of his experience and journey of discovery resonated.
Thank you Jason! Interesting so many viewers came in around the same period like you!

agreed, it really showed them growing as a band.
He is Tony, which is why we like to work with him!
Love this show great fun
Thank you!

Thank you James! Interesting same age as Ken! Did you learn about Wings around the same time? 76-77?

Helen Wheels wasn’t on the UK vinyl release, that’s what matters.
A-MEN! Michael! No 'Helen Wheels' on BOTR!!!

Fair but they both have their fans!

To You is the only track I'm not keen on in Back to the Egg.
me, too. It's not much of a song, doesn't go anywhere, but some people love it.
Same Chris, that one is a bit "meh".
Sounds like punk completely passed you guys by…
@@michaeldunne3379 Respect it. But not into it.
