I can imagine. It's the trust gone, you are hurt and shocked. I mean you went for the interview if you didn't get the post he could've just said that.
Also lesson is never put in a notice until you get the offer/ sign contract with your next employer. They will also know you need to serve your notice after they offer you the position so make sure you got the job first.
Otherwise I really dont blame you. If someone has been good to you for a year or so and says there is a vacant position somewhere or he got you a job and that'll mean you guys being closer you will believe them and trust that they love you and they are looking out for you without a doubt.
Definitely not a fool's move. He chose to do things that way after you trusted him.
