thanks for all your videos, but this one in particular. i've had the colorwheel explained to me numerous times, and i swear, whenever someone tries to teach it to me, i turn into a goldfish with a 3 second memory, or the pretty colors give me A.D.D. and my mind wanders off through a meadow and i'm a viking hunting spotted unicorns. i learn slightly more each time, but i can't expect any teacher to be as repetitive as i apparently need them to be. now, with your archived youtube lesson, i can watch it over and over and over again, until i finally "get it", and it all sinks in. THANKS!! :)
When you said, “I feel like I’m giving you the keys to the kingdom.” It gave me chills. My signature involves a key and finding this video just gave me the assist i needed in my level up. Thank you so much for sharing this 🙏🏽💚
This is such a well put together video, that I'm in aw. Not that the information conveyed is perplexing, but the simplification is spot on. Thank you for sharing this!
I too learned about the color wheel long, long ago. Back when I was a kid. And I learned it in a very similar way -- by actually putting the colors together. Mixing the primaries to make secondaries. Mixing the secondaries to make the tertiaries. Many other videos here on YTube explain the color wheel by walking through an already completed, in some cases even a pre-printed, hand-held version. I think the way you actively build yours makes SO much more sense. And it is way more enjoyable to watch. Guess I'm saying I like your style. :D Which reminds me -- you are incredibly brave as a watercolor painter, to wear such a lovely shirt while you work. We can only see the sleeves of course, but they look beautiful! Could also be that you just have much better control than I do, but I wld always wear the oldest grungiest shirt I could find whenever I wld paint because I always knew I was bound to make a huge mess. So yes, again -- I like your style! **Just noticed -- is that a mood ring?? Too cool! I love it! (Blue means happy, right?)
I've watched just about every color mixing video on you tube and you are the one that cracked the code for me! I couldn't understand how anyone would think that the color yellow could possibly compliment (as in "flatter") violet! Yuckkk!!!!! Not only is painting your forte but so is teaching! Thanks so much from this newbie! Juju
Oh wow! This was amazing!! Thank you!! When I was a kid I was messing around with my crayons and discovered yellow and purple made brown. I thought this was so cool and would tell peeps about it. They didn't believe me, or maybe they really didn't care, but I thought I'd invented something! LOL! Anyway, I have no formal art training and I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge. I have a very cheap gouache set, but too afraid to break into it. Now, I think I've found something to try! I just love art and have this crazy idea that I may be a little artistic. It's hard to explain, but I'm just itching to create SOMETHING, but just do not know what, or which direction to go.
I knew I was right about green and red making brown. So many people have argued against me on that although what color combination they thought made brown may be right as well as this video proves there are at least three different ways to make it.
The majority of the basic information in this video I've known for years. Like how to mix those colour wheels, primary, secondary and so on, complimentary colours, the brown mixing. I can't even remember when I learned it. In such a way that I forgot that this wasn't necessarily common knowledge. I was reminded of this at work the other day, I was the only one in my whole office who knew about complimentary colours.
Thank you for this video. I do color matches, paint and stain colors for work.. Paint matches by eye i pretty much got down.. This will help me in my stain matches big time. Thanks again.
I just started painting. I'm artistically challenged. Using Acrylic tube paints. I have a good selection of brushes purchased from a "Blick" art supply store. Your "Color Wheel Tutorial - How to Mix Paint" is by far the best I've seen. It's also the first one I've been able to finish. Very well put together and enjoyable for me to follow. Thank you. Mike
I have seen atleast 15 color wheel video... The way you explain and make videos are absolutely different than anyone else's. I feel spellbound and paralytic watching your videos.....
I would have been a painter if I would have learn this in such an easy way in my school times, I did not pay attention to it that time...... Thank you.
Wow, revelation on what comp colors can do! Thank you so much!! I've been painting with acrylics last few years and have been irked by the brightness that can make a realistic subject look so UN-real... I definitely had a duh moment when I saw that they can be toned down with the comp color! Again.. Wow! :)))
I use Arches 140 lb cold press paper, and I also like The Langton's papers. Please go to my channel page and find my video called "Watercolor Painting Lessons - Glazes" to see my colors. :)
I'm just experiencing surprises from this world of colour.so what is the name of the oils for mixing with paint and where can I get it. Also in a large containers where can I get the colours. Ohh your co-operation is highly appreciated.
Thanks so much for this information.. its so simple yet so effective.. do you have any information which you can share on shadows ? it would mean so much ..
I just made a video and HAD TO link this playlist there because you helped me A LOT. I feel that I'm really better since i started to watch your videos, and I miss them.
I so want to buy myself some watercolors now, but I still feel l won't create what I see in my head. Awesome video and thank you for the god info. I took an art class in middle school, but I've definitely have learned more from your videos. You have an amazing talent:)
I know we are supposed to be focusing on the color wheels but I am in LOVE with the pattern on your sleeve! Is it vintage? I also love that you post your nail polish shade :)
Being a left brained thinker who loves to (and needs to) get lost in her right brain I love your videos breaking down the important techniques of this medium!!
Just a bit of a correction if you don’t mind; Ultramarine Blue was invented because lapis Lazuli is the pigment you spoke of that was exorbitantly expensive....UM was a cheap alternative, and so gained in popularity.
