    That garden reminds me so much of the Ho’omaluhia Botanical Gardens in Kaneohe but with added bonus of baths. So cool! Also the buses in Reykjavik are exactly the same. You better wave vehemently.

      yeah we thought the same as soon as we got there. it was the same in all ways except the smell... smelled like eggs everywhere due to the volcano :)

    Can’t believe how little it’s changed, except for the caldeiras being blocked off. Surprised that you didn’t try pit cooking!

      LOL. Been there and It is not dirty in the sense of dirty, dirty. The colour comes from the minerals in the water. It seems they didn`t go try the hot spring cascades in the middle of the woods around.

      Ha yeah - it was a bit offputting, but we never felt dirty, just all of our clothes changing color

    Hi guys! I guess you travelling on some sort of budget but...I can`t believe you didn`t head to a restaurant to get a "cozido" unless you vegetarian. If you not vegetarian, then you blew it all for not having one. Most of the places you need to go there in the morning to book it for dinner or night before if you want it for lunch as it takes in between 6/8 hours to cook it in sealed pans that go into the pot holes and then covered. Sometimes, it can happen a restaurant has cooked a bit more and have a portion for 1 or 2 people to spare but I would call it "luck". In case you don`t know "Cozido a portuguesa" is a traditional portuguese dish with diff types of meat mainly beef, porc, potatoes, carrots, diff types of sausages, cabbage all cooked in a very healthy way (water and bit of salt). No spices. The taste of diff sausages blend with meat and veggies and give them a unique taste. In Azores it is called "Cozido das Furnas" because the way it`s cooked. Duration of cooking it`s the essence in order to avoid meat to overcook and get bit dry but the taste is....yum. Enjoy your time !

    Hello Lisa and Josh, Others have said The Azores are the Hawaii of the Atlantic, you've made the comparison. I found Hawaii to be a cross between New Zealand and Bali. What's your verdict. Are the Azores comparable to Hawaii? Thankyou so much for this video

    • @LisaAndJosh
      @LisaAndJosh  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      there's a lot similar, and a lot different - i definitely agree with hawaii feeling like 50% NZ and 50% Bali. If I had to make a comparison here... I think it would be that the Azores are 50% Hawaii, 50% NZ, especially in that you NEED a car to get around.
