Incredicoaster Review, Disney California Adventure Intamin Coaster | Disney's Weirdest Coaster

- Incredicoaster is the signature roller coaster at Disney California Adventure. But it also may be one of the weirdest coasters built by Disney. This is a massive roller coaster from Intamin designed to resemble a classic boardwalk wood coaster. The ride starts with a launch before navigating a long layout with a series of large hills and even an inversion. The ride originally opened as California Screamin', but it was given an Incredibles overlay as part of the land's transformation into Pixar Pier.

I liked the original version more. A lot of people said "it's not themed" but I think that's missing the concept. I always compare the theming of California Screamin' to the theming of Velocicoaster.
Stay with me now.
Velocicoaster is a coaster at IOA that is themed to being a coaster supposedly built in the actual Jurassic World dinosaur park with the intention that taking guests inside the Velociraptor paddock would add thrills to the dinosaur park. It's a meta theme. It's a coaster at a theme park that is themed to being a coaster somewhere else.
California Screamin' was a steel coaster themed to being an old wooden coaster at a California boardwalk park like the Giant Dipper coasters. The theme of the coaster was that you're on an old wooden coaster by the beach. The ambiance and setting was the theme. And frankly, I think that worked better that the very shoehorned Incredibles theme.
I agree California Screamin' wasn't meant to have an elaborate theme, but that's not what I expect from Disney.
It's cool for diehard coaster fans, but it's pretty confusing and out of place in Disneyland. The California theming simply didn't sell well enough for the Disney execs.
I actually emailed Disney and asked if they would put in LSMs and maybe ask Mach rides for the track work and the legal team reached out and said Disney does not take any requests or ideas from outside the company😂.
That's ironic. This was originally designed as a show coaster at a Wizard of Oz theme park in Kansas that was never built that was in its planning stages in the 90s, it was meant to be the centrepiece of the Emerald City section of the park. The never built park was supposed to be on the land that is now the Kansas Speedway. Disney literally purchased a layout that wasn't made for them.
I'm not surprised.
@@CanobieCoaster Me neither lol.
@@urbex_coasters I don't think that's how irony works. Buying a coaster layout and changing the concept of the ride is not at all similar to receiving a random email about how to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars and giving it one of the most common automated responses of all time.
@@George_vv I mean as a child I frequently asked parks to buy coasters that were closing that I was not happy to see closing. The common automated response is "we will take it into consideration" and then they don't do it. I remember being on the hype train for Dueling Dragons at Kentucky Kingdom, and being very dissapointed when it didn't happen. One of my more cringeworthy childhood moments. Yes I was literally a child when those rides were scrapped, time moves too fast. Disney's response is a little ruder way of telling someone to bug off than I remember seeing in those days.
It is a very beautiful coaster especially at night. And it has an oldschool vibe with the layout and the structure that looks like an older wooden coaster. That really fits into the pier.
It does look great.
This is the most accurate and perfect review I’ve ever seen. Job well done!
Thanks!
Fun fact: this layout was originally intended for an ambitious Land of Oz theme park in Kansas. It was the centrepiece of Emerald City. The park never got built.
I had never heard that.
10:55 I remember how strong you mentioned your aversion to sweets is in the Jolly Rancher coaster review, and I got a really good chuckle out of this part
At least you are moving slowly past the cookie here, so I can comfortably hold my breath.
I've never seen someone hate on sweets as much as Canobie does 😂
Most people don’t know this but they say the top speed of the Incredicoaster is 55 mph which is true but that’s talking about how fast the launch speed is. The first camelback hill you travel over after the launch is 108 ft. but the second hill is the biggest hill on the ride that stands 120 ft. but this is where the ride reaches its true top speed of 57 mph! I’m not sure why the internet or other websites don’t actually list the the true speed of this roller coaster and why it only tells you the launches top speed but I just thought it was a pretty interesting fact most people probably didn’t know!!!
Interesting! Probably because the launch speed is the most marketed stat.
I rode during WoC last week & got evacced at the very top of the main lift hill. My legs were SHAKING going down those stairs!
Great review Canobie 👏👏
Thanks! Wow, Incredicoaster has been breaking down more than usual as of late.
Disney should enclose the final bunny hills with Jack Jacks on a stick. Would add a nice dark ride scene & make the Jack Jack's look WAY less ugly
That would be cool.
I rode this back in '05 when it was very new and the loop was much smoother back then. I'm glad they didn't change it much, it's a perfect first big steel coaster for kids. It's surprisingly gentle despite its imposing appearance, speed, and height. A real gentle giant.
I hope they can smooth the loop out one day.
On my day, which was a school day, Incredicoaster was almost an hour or over an hour from open to close, with no breakdowns. As such, I only got one ride. The single rider line got me on in 30 minutes. This was in 2019, so maybe the lines have gotten better, or I just hit it on a bad day. I did enjoy my one ride. I was toward the front, and the airtime was good.
Sounds like a bad day. I've visited the park on weekends and usually it's much less for me.
Technically they removed the Mickey ears long before the conversion to incredicoaster. In 2010 they changed it to a paradise Pier sign, then again to Pixar Pier as you mentioned. I haven't ridden this coaster since it recieved the Incredibles update but I'm pretty horrified by the fact they completely closed off the formerly amazing view on the highest lift of the ride in favor of the cheap themeing.
That's true. I noticed they were removed earlier.
The loop has already been retracked multiple times before. I don't know why its always consistently rough aside from it being the most forceful part of the ride.
Interesting that it's still rough then.
I’d love to try this ride out one day after watching the 2004 movie which was really good!
Enjoy!
I've always enjoyed this ride. While this coaster is somewhat tame, it's a great time for me.
It's fun for sure.
Its one long coaster, but this park is going south
Honestly from what I’ve seen, it’s slowly getting better and more like a Disney park.
I really like the park myself.
I'll be honest, I would've preferred screens over the static figures. It feels really awkward to be on a fast moving ride and have these static figures alongside you. I also wish they would at least sequence the laser eyes as well instead of just a still beam at all time. Everything else about it, I love however
That's fair about the screens.
One thing that gets annoying is that Incredicoaster closes during World of Color. And during the summer months when world of color has 2 shows it gets hard to get a night ride :/
I remembered it closing on past visits, but they now keep Incredicoaster open (just with lights off) during World of Color.
Would have to agree with many of the points you brought up with this ride. Incredicoaster feels like it has too much filler, and the loop is extremely shaky, which is not something I've experienced on many coasters. This park could certainly use a better coaster, although they at least have some stellar thrill rides with Mission Breakout and Radiator Springs Racers
Can you do a review of Primordial at Lagoon amusement park?
I'd love another big coaster that's heavier on theming.
I think the reason its so much filler is the fact that its supposed to replicate a classic wooden coaster. Those have a lot of similar dead spots, but are more exciting because it feels more out of control.
Disneyland needs another thrill coaster!
I would welcome another.
Objectively the incredibles theme is ok, but I think the old theme “sold” the ride better than the new one.
That's fair.
7:11 I was shocked to find me in this video lol. I asked for a front row so they put me and my family to the side
Coincidental timing!
I'm always stunned at how long this thing actually is, feels no more than 4,500 but that's just how much high speed filler there is
It definitely feels long onride too.
Great view for a very neat ride. I'd love to ride this. Looks fun. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It's a nice looking ride.

You then navigate the ride's lone inversion, a vertical loop. This is an intense inversion. It has great positive Gs throughout. However, the train noticeably jackhammers throughout.
If I ask you, do you like the loop, the positive Gs, and the noticeable jackhammering? What do you think?
Canobie Coaster would say: I like the positive Gs, just wish...
It was smoother
im INTRIGUED by a world of color ride (esp if I have passes for the late show!)
It is interesting for sure.
I suspect the conversion from LIM to LSM system for reliability for this roller coaster.
I think they'd have to change the trains to do that.
Crazy to think this was my No 1 until a few weeks ago
Wow!
@@CanobieCoaster No 1 out of like, 12, with half of those being the coasters at Disneyland
Great video, but you missed the park views!
Oh from the turns?
5th Longest Coaster In The United States???? Well You Learn Something Everyday
It's a statistical beast to be honest.
Canobie Coaster, you had a review video about Incredicoaster, made in 2020.
Yes, I wanted to update it with improved techncial production and some updated thoughts.
So I’m a little pissed off at the ride as I was stuck on it for an hour. I do have a story to tell, which I’m probably gonna make into a short/video soon
Sorry you got stuck.
It was really funny hearing this kid have beef with a cast member named Reena and I liked that I got 3 free express lane tickets (or whatever they’re called). Besides losing an hour, it was cool and really funny
Is it considered a mega coaster?
I don't quite count it as one.
Can yoy make a video on what is happening with wild mouse at luna park sydney. Its gone!!!!
I don't have too much knowledge on it, but I believe they're rebuilding it.
@@CanobieCoaster but it's completely torn down. Why tare down a historic coaster. At least use its stricture
sweet
It is.
It Pefect For Clone
It would be an odd one to copy given the length and capacity.
Paradise pier looked so much better, it had a natural look and blend right in. I miss when things were not l IP but original.
It was a unique look for a Disney park.
I've heard many jokes about how cheap the theming for this coaster is for example saying flight of fear has better theming
hi toaster coaster
While the theming isn't elaborate, the ride is fun.
@@CanobieCoaster ride looks fun but the theming especially for Disney looks cheap
At least it no longer is called "California Screamin'" (ugh).
I actually liked that name.
Does it still feel like Disney
The park does. And the ride has some Disney touches.
Scammer as usual, if you don’t like how a business operates or what they offer then go elsewhere instead of complaining!
not sure what about this video is giving scammer
What an idiotic take. If companies don't want criticsm they can address the source of the criticism. Disney isn't some struggling startup that needs you to go to bat for them.
Why are you even watching reviews if you think people shouldn't criticize?
I see you have a history of posting harsh comments in his Disney reviews. You’re beyond the stereotypical “Disney Mom”, it’s like you don’t even know what a review is. It isn’t a review without criticism, and he’s been to enough parks to know a thing or two about how to improve the experience. This isn’t an infomercial where he’s paid by Disney to glorify his video with positivity. It’s an honest, real review. And it has constructive criticism, it’s not like he’s tearing every thing apart that he dislikes. If you don’t like that, then don’t do him any favors for the algorithm by watching the video 😂
You are just annoyed that this coaster looks like a six flags reject in fact that is probably insulting six flags. Disneys problem is they also made rides like big thunder mountain space mountain expedition Everest ECT can you truly say hand on heart that this is up to the Disney standards that I will add they made themselves
I thoroughly enjoy this ride, but just because others might not like the ride as much as me, does not mean their opinion is a, "scam."
Canobie offers HIS thoughts on the ride, and that is awesome. I'm pretty sure you have given SOME criticism to something you didn't enjoy as much as others (ex. restaurants, maybe even thrill rides, etc.).
A differing opinion does not equate to being a scammer, it equates simply to a different experience, which I find awesome.

And riders will encounter the scent of chocolate chip cookies, which is a nice touch, if you enjoy sweets.
If I ask you, why did you say: if you enjoy sweets?
Do you like them, Canobie Coaster, why?
No, I hate sweets.
