I'm not even going to lie, I was never a big fan of Hyundai and Kia, but the Genesis G80 is really nice. Maybe I will give the Korean Automaker a chance whenever possible.
As far as reliability goes, my used 2004 Elantra has been mechanically flawless.

It came time for me to consider trading in my Mercedes. What’s in my driveway today? Genesis G80 Ultimate sedan. I just couldn’t justify the $$$ nor the upkeep of Mercedes. Add to that the panoramic sun roof and the fact that when it comes time for servicing, Genesis brings the loaner TO ME takes my car in for service and then brings it back to my house. So happy I made the swap. I WON’T GO BACK TO MERCEDES, BMW OR AUDI again. Just my choice and yes I can afford the aforementioned. To each their own.
I'm considering the same my only deterrent is location. I relocated from MA to AZ and there is no Genesis dealer only Hyundai dealer ship. No dedicated area for Genesis there are only two guys who try to cater to the Genesis model. If Bill or Bob aren't available then your SOL. I feel I won't be able to enjoy the Genesis experience with this platform.

@Yule Calma idk man. Hyundais genesis line is giving it to the Germans. The new g80, gv80 etc are right there with all of the Germans and actually look better than at least bmw imo

Jalin Fuller this car blows the TLX away. The TLX needs more power. Don't know why they didn't keep the 3.7 or use the type r 2.0T at aminimum

Took in my sonata for recall and got a g80 for the new year weekend as a rental. Let me tell you I transport all kinds of cars and this car is simply one of the best I have driven. Everything on it is solid.

It's a Hyundai products, a renowned manufacturer with state of the art R&D facility, pioneering innovative automotive designs who does not copy other models, does not copy shapes, does not copy its own logo, does not copy front grill designs, does not even copy special highlighted feartures which identifies who designed it, always brings a unique design which shouts Hyundai all around. Of course it is a marvel production only if they could perfect their current line of products first. They have to gain respect first before comparing themselves with pack leaders. In other words, don't compare, just bring a vehicle with your own creation and let public decide.

4 ways to open the trunk, Dave. The 4th way is the hands free trunk by walking up to the back of a locked car and waiting for 3-4 seconds while it beeps and it will open.

Lynn, Yes! The seats don't fold down on the G80 Sport, but (as Dave) mentioned there is a "ski passageway". Folding seats would've been a nice touch, but most vehicles in this class don't offer that feature anyways.
One of the reasons the engine feels so strong is that the torque peaks at a low 1,500 rpm.

I've always had BMW v8 550 545 540 rear wheel now I own genesis 5.0 rear wheel I love it always BMW guy back roads curves BMW my love but cost of maitance reliability and not gonna lie my 5.0 genesis is faster on highway then BMW 550 v8 rear wheel I own lol extra genesis gave me double factory warnty and lifetime maitance I don't think knew till now when sense last service only put 1kmiles on it cause always work truck and winter don't drive BMW or genesis and days off nice only drive one car at Tim there tryna buy back last 2 years lol nope even gonna getbmw 750 alpina 01 old school and g70 genesis just waiting a couple years see if do coupe or 5.0 in g70 cause already have 2 sport luxury sedans not planing on getten rid off and showroom both and mad one of kind not goddy and fake chrome not chrome guy to heavy but ya love it options included my 550 paid everything every option of model and year 87k genesis not as close BMW always new car smell but reliabilt and hardly drive not even close genesis worry so much less plus warnty and cost overall more fun less worry more fun why lived BMW but had buying sense 01 had every 5 series v8 except the f39 last one is e61 had e39 to e61 and keep costing more and less reliable mind u if really rich I'd go get new m8 gas not i8 ugly sorry bmw m8 bad Ads but way to much if really rich I would still own a genesis but if was never probably gave a shot like I did even if g90 just go road trip or take family out but g80 fun as hell and perfect for those trips BMW not every day driver I don't drive everyday genesis but I could if wasn't work truck 6 days a week maybe I'd get all wheel being south Boston winters genesis Actully worse then BMW in snow lol maybe just better tire but pretty much same tires only hit snow like once b4 garages in both cars maybe snow was more slick day had genesis out

Gas mileage is terrible for what should be a practical car. That's where this is a big miss, it's one dramatic flaw
Tested drove one this past Saturday and I'm still driving it until this very day. Absolutely love this car has every option on it.

On my Canadian G80 Sport AWD, when one presses "Drive Mode" and holds it down, it switches to "Snow Mode". So four modes.

takhayc the genesis used a 3.8l engine. This engine is if I Remeber a twin turbo version of the engine used in the cadenza.

I've been waiting for you to get this car. I saw this car in the Korean car show last year but they blacked out the windows and locked the doors. Sad. But got to sit in the G90 and G80. What a beautiful car in and out. But I am also looking at the Kia Stinger which should be coming out later this year.
Man IToldYouSo I was looking at the stinger as well. But it all comes down to personal preference. The stinger will be better tuned and faster but not as luxurious as this one

I've watched three reviews on this car and so far I'm not impressed. I guess I'll have to test drive it for myself. I'm not a fan of the interior though, so even if I enjoy my test drive, i still wouldn't buy this car. My Infiniti's interior is way better.

I wrote to another person as ignorant as you on this thread so I'll enlighten you: The design chief at Hyundai (but first Kia) was German, Peter Schreyer, who was behind the iconic Audi A6, VW new Beetle, Audi TT etc. The handling is overseen by Alex Biermann, who was former head at BMW's M division. The incoming head of design at Hyundai now to replace Mr Schreyer who is retiring after a decade at Kia/Hyundai, is Luc Donckerwolke, who designed VW, Bentleys, Lamborghinis and Bugattis. So if they look German or Italian now, there is a reason...its because they've been DESIGNED BY GERMANS/EUROPEANS (I think Luc is Belgian but don't quote me). The quality from the Korean brands and going to be and have been topping the German brands now... That Kia GT Stinger that will be reaching showrooms...has a Korean Kia badge...but that's basically a German engineered car built in Korea...best of both worlds
alexandergoldman what I was saying is a statement. Hyundai might have similar designs as other luxury brands, but the detail works still lack. It's like comparing ford and Lincoln. You may think Hyundai is a better bang for the buck. That's all I can say from this auto maker.

Jackie Freeman are you that stupid? Really? First off its a Ford FUSION...its the lincoln that would have to compete with Genesis. Featurewise..go down the list and you'll see a LOT OF FEATURES not available on the Fusion. Carbon fibre interior, HP, performance figures. But styling is probably tge biggest differentiator; you don't see ppl swooning over a fusion. Its a good car but not in the sane league...and im a fan of Ford too. I don't want to waste time on this...but comparing a Fusion to this is ignorant...that was my point
