@@roberthanusen23 the Dehli Metro, if it was in the USA, would be the best and most reliable one in the nation lmao. USA is losing to Mexico and Chile when it comes to public transport, don't even talk about China which is whipping their ass when it comes to infrastructure
And also not just subway. US is beat in many areas from healthcare to education to infrastructure to homelessness. US only #1 in military so they can threaten people with it.
I had the privilege of visiting Singapore a few weeks ago and I LOVED their public transportation system. Both MRTs and buses were so frequent, clean, and fast. Not to mention people were very well-mannered and queued up at the stops and allowed passengers on the bus/train to leave before boarding. One thing I noticed (and appreciated) as well was that people on the MRT station escalators always stood to the left to allow people in a hurry go past you on the right. It was such a pleasure!
The standing on the left thing is actually a habit instilled into children in school. It's not really for escalators per say but rather when in school, you have entire classes moving together. Everyone standardises to stick to the left when moving. So, there is smooth following human traffic in the school compound especially on the stairs. This becomes deeply ingrained by the time you become an adult and start working. So, that's why you see everyone stick to the left on escalators.
Two American couples boarded our mrt in Raffles City station n the first thing I heard “Look darling look around it’s so clean n beautiful unlike ours in New York.” I beamed with pride. 😁
NYC pride themselves with a subway system in operation for more than a century. Sure it's old and outdated but not easy to shut a line and stations for modernization and disrupt the commute of hundreds of thousands citizens. NYC economy would be in shambles.
@@B_y1nJapan China had first subway trains but whyte stole ideas invention as usual. If Amerikkkan are smartest then why yr falling way behind Asians for now. All countries can upgrade their infrastructure subway airport bridge dam but not superpower of Amerikkka? Yeah right.
@@B_y1nit’s called urban planning. If a station shut down for upgrading, provide better resource like buses. Problem with USA is too many red tapes imho. 😅
@@B_y1n That's not an excuse though. Singapore also managed to renovate and update their trains and stations bit by bit. It wasn't that high-tech and modern at the start when it first opened. There were no ceiling fans in the past, no monitors showing you the arrival times of the next trains, no barriers to stop people from falling onto the rails, no elevators and some stations didn't even have escalators. They renovated when the stations are closed for the night. Surely the subways are not open 24/7, right? All that talk about being impossible to upgrade is nothing but an excuse to not spend the money for it, all so the money goes into the pockets of the investors or the owners of the subway system. The stations, trains and rails in Singapore were kept high-tech and updated by the company to ensure quality service and experience, even if this has to cut into the yearly profits. I believe the government made the laws to ensure it that way, to ensure that part of the profits will be used to put back into the system. Now we have more stations coming up. New trains and the likes. Uncontrolled capitalism like USA is just a dystopia waiting to happen.
One more thing to add, the mrt was also at times integrated with mall and health care institutions making transport a seamless task. Many expats who are coming in for the first time need not necessarily have a car to start working here in Singapore.
@@Jkl62200 I think there’s a difference in our mentality. Instead of trying to beat others in a competition vs doing a good job and if there’s a competition, we want to take part and learn from others how they are so good and become better for ourselves. We don’t compete to win over others, we compete to become better. This is the spirit of competition when Mr. Lee Kuan Yew suggest looking at the ranks of the countries and approaching them and asking them how they did it when we wanted to improve the lives of our people. Hope you get it!
The other VERY IMPORTANT point is that when the government plans and starts building a new MRT line, it sticks to a schedule. Moved here in 2007. They had 3 lines. Almost 16 years later and three more lines are completed. Last point-it is very inexpensive to travel. Iike REALLY INEXPENSIVE!! Sold our car four years ago and never looked back. Saved so much on gas insurance and car maintenance. Covered pathways to protect against the rain in making ones way from connecting bus stations/stops to MRT stations. SUPER safe. One sees young children, and girls/ women traveling alone even late evening to 0100 making their way without hassle or worry. There is still a great deal of respect for each other. Get on any bus/train and if the bus is full when a pregnant looking woman gets in or an elderly person -suddenly several people stand up to give up their seat. Traveled to at least 45 countries and used subways-NOWHERE else is there this level of efficiency and state of the art transportation!!!
Ngl as a Singaporean, most of the time we stand and give up our seats is because we do not want to appear on social media getting "stomp"ed which somewhat turned into a culture
@@m1keSP I read that in the USA everyone automatically offers their seat to soliders, while in Singapore we expect things the other way round (to maintain the 'macho' image of soldiers)
As a Singaporean who had travelled to a few countries, I can proudly say the MRT is one of the best railway systems in the world. Not just due to the trains or cleanliness or technology, but the total overall experience. It is just too damn convenient as when you exit the station you are already at your destination and it is sadly something we Singaporeans took for granted, which we will only learn after traveling overseas. Stations are often far from your destinations, paper tickets that had to be punched in and out have to be bought, sometimes there are broken seats or armrests. Some stations have lots of stairs and no elevators or escalators, making traveling with luggage irritating. Some countries and cities I been to didn't even have a subway and the only way to travel is via tricycles, jeepneys, tuk-tuks or taxis. The traffic is terrible and congested and lawless, with people crossing randomly and vehicles not stopping at the pedestrian crossings or traffic lights. Simply put, pure chaos. Way different from the orderly way we do things in Singapore.
@@amin7581 you can still export your car after your COE has expired -- the COE is merely an entitlement for you to drive the car on Singapore roads. the car is otherwise still yours.
MRT was the best project ever implemented for Singapore. Not just convenient, but its the heart of moving and connecting Singapore as one nation. Just look at KL and Penang, one with some and one without one at all respectively, but desperately need an integrated system!
Public transportation is so awful and backwards in the US that even Malaysia offers much more quality ridership even with the high ticketing prices and trains that don't run on time, poor connectivity. That bad. At least KL LRT lines don't have rats and graffiti like New York's Subway
Jakarta too. The Integrated Mass Transit System (MRT, LRT, BRT, along with feeders) is a 40 years overdue project, that only in the last few years gained enough traction.
I'd like to add that SG Public Transportation System also has poor performing bus systems and light rail systems. Total system efficiency is crucial here and car ownership in Sg is at its highest!
Same here and i live in indonesia which is way worse than singapore when it comes to cleanliness. The american tourists that visited my store said they were so shocked that my town is much cleaner than their hometown in Atlanta.😂😂 they said even people keep sweeping already clean pavement in front of our shoppes, which we just sweep it with wooden broom to clean fallen leaves.

I’ve lived abroad for ard 10+ years pre Covid and I can say the speed in which SG has been building the MRT network is unbelievable compared to other countries.
Wait till you see mainland China (they probably take ~4yrs to build a new line, while SG takes about 10, while other developed countries might take the same duration to extend an existing line)
As a transport enthusiast, people take the MRT for granted and I think that any country can beat the US in the subway project. The US people must be jealous after watching this video LMAO. I’m proud to be a singaporean
I think the problem in the United States nowadays is the ridiculously high construction cost. - For no reason one transit project in the United States cost more than any other country. (Besides, the federal government isn’t funding it adequately) - The highway industrial complex is clearly the worst decision the US ever made and probably the influence for building more highways was because of corporate pressures from car companies.
The NYC subway system has been in operation for more than a century. Something not a lot of cities can say. It's not easily upgradable with shutting the line and stations causing havoc to NY daily commute. For that reason, NYC is behind in modernization but again, has served New Yorker's contribution to the city as the highest in GDP to date.
America loses out to the East. I've been to Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, and Thailand including Singapore. All of them have excellent subway services, and it is super clean.
Singapore is far too clean and its MRT system is exceedingly well maintained CLEAN. The Singapore government is taking great care of the people and setting higher standards in every sphere
As I was growing up, I was told and heard from many people saying Singapore is a very clean city and also heard they have some restricted laws. Better do some homework before travel there.
@Sola Because Singapore had it's history of punishing foreigners like caning and jail. But the thing is, they came here and broke our laws, they deserved to be punished. Don't see what's the big hoo yah all about. Come here, abide by our rules. It's simple. You will quickly realise we are not like North Korea/China.
As a Singapore citizen, I am really pleased to find a video about MRT covering information I am not aware of. You managed to pronounce many names (persons, places etc) correctly. I am glad also you included bits of how the MRT also suffers problems and outages. Excellent video and congratulations for a job well done!🎉
Thanks very much for the kind words. It’s comments like yours that help keep the channel going. Mistakes/inaccuracies will happen along the way but our commitment is to improve and provide better quality videos. Cheers!
Having visited Singapore with my wife and daughter for holidays in July 2023 and staying at the Holiday Inn Atrium with the an MRT station at our side door, it was indeed a pleasure to be able to get about Singapore using the MRT, for both use and ease of usage. I come from Australia and one of my sayings is, "that the inmates of this country (Australia) should travel abroad and see how the other half lives." Hopefully, they would appreciate their own country and keep it clean as in Singapore.
Singapore and Japan are the prime example that it takes each one of us to keep the country clean and to a high standard. True inspiration. As much as many will object to "Control" by the government and claiming "restricted freedom" strict laws and implementation of it is crucial to help "the less self-aware" people in check. At the end... its for the benefit of everyone not an individual.
Yes, it makes me feel proud and happy to be born in Singapore. Yes, there are some glitches along the way, no system is error or trouble free. But it's up time is something we can be proud of
Having taken the metro in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, South Korea and Japan I would say any one of them is better than the American subways.
I would say NY subway system is a century older than any other system. To shut down a line and stations for cosmetics modernization, the government is capable but at a cost to the citizens of that community that depends on it. The commuters would suffer and object to a shut down. Otherwise a system still in operation for more than a century is bragging rights itself that has helped maintain NYC as the richest city by GDP over the mentioned cities.
@@B_y1n First London Underground opened in 1863. NYC was open 41 years later in 1904. Secondly other countries metro are being "continuously" updated so the interruption and deterioration are kept to the minimal.
It’s clean in Singapore because we enforce the law to put you in jail if needed when you litter. In places like Europe the countries don’t even bother cleaning up pickpockets and scammers.
Just a note, now the tap and go payment is extended so if you have a chip in your credit card (Mastercard or Visa), you can also pay for the MRT. I believe it also accepts Apple and Google pay from the phone, which means that tourists don't need to buy a prepaid card and can access the transport system seamlessly, which is key.
This is an excellent video of Singapore's MRT system, must be watched by all residents to appreciate the efforts taken by the leaders then especially Mr. Ong Teng Cheong. When I came to Singapore in 1997, there was only two rail network routes & currently there are six routes and 7th & 8th already in plans. There has been an excellent improvement in MRT & LRT systems in Singapore making the commuters easy to connect with other transport and daily usage. Thank you Singapore.
America prospered during an era when other historically major countries were having domestic issues or other problems, badly. The shortcomings of the US is that, it immersed itself too much in self-aggrandizing and arrogance (exceptionalism?) that, when other nations eventually began to catch up economically and militarily, as well as technologically, America basically stood still and instead of striving to self improve, America resorted to breaking the legs of the runner-ups (so to speak).
Foreigners comment about the NYC subway system in operation for more than a century shows ignorance. Shutting down a line and stations it serves just to modernize and compete on looks with other nations would only cause havoc among the residents dependent on the line. The daily commute chaos it would cause isn't worth it. Yet, NYC centuries old is ranked at least a $ trillion in GDP (1st) Singapore can only dream of. 😂

Singapore, Japan and China. The efficiency, cleanliness and safety of their subway trains is first class. The subway stations are art works and designed for maximum customer convenience. These 3 Asian countries have beaten Europe's and North American subway systems big time. In China is an additional safety feature as passengers with large suitcases must first go through an x-ray machine. While these 3 countries have invested heavily in their public transport system the Americans are spending for example their money on buying more weapons in order to destroy other countries. It's a matter of priorities.
How much China pays you per text you send 50cents ? USA spend big on weaponry equipment is to protect against the big bully people republic of China and I approve what usa and rest of the countries did . As a propagandist your level is too long .
Sorry I will not put China in the same category. In Japan, keeping the train clean and quiet is a way of life, and has been so despite the train systems being decades older. In Singapore, most people are civilised only when there are rules and laws in place. Our oldest stations and lines are also not as pleasant as the recently built ones. China's system are far too new to judge, and the people far from being civilised unless they are the urban educated elites. Give them another 100 years, and see if they are as clean as the systems in the West, many of which are over 100 years old.
@@huaiwei the Chinese subway stations are modern, shiny and clean. Very strict rules are enforced to ensure cleanliness. I have travelled on Chinese subways for years. @@huaiweithat’s so true. My thoughts too. China looks great, clean, efficient and beautiful largely because most of the facilities are recently built. In Singapore, we will complain even if the waiting time is 5 mins 😂 Last part is so spot on because we expect the impossible trinity of cheap, fast & good. Service disruptions are not avoidable when maintenance crew only has a few hours to do their jobs on tracks.
I think we got the impression that the service disruptions in the early-2010s are more avoidable if the rail operator had invested more in maintenance. The fare hikes in late 2019, the steepest ever approved in the Public Transport Council's then 20-yr history, was apparently to fund the follow-up maintenance that'd reduced the disruptions from the early-2010 highs, which seems to risk causing a moral hazard - where commuters are made to pay for the operator not having spent more on maintenance earlier
One more thing to add, the statins double as civil shelters in case of war. They have independent water and electricity systems and chemical/biologics showers, food rations and deployable compartments to serve as shelter housing.
The MRT is a tribute to the late Mr Ong , an architect by training who went on to become the President of Singapore. May Singapore continue to be Blessed with brilliant ,visionary and selfless leaders like Mr Ong and Mr Lee Kuan Yew.
...who (Mr Ong) was then treated badly right up to his death and beyond (no state funeral) by Mr Lee and the rest of the latter's cronies because he dared to question their use of public monies. There are many good things here. But let's not gloss over the few very bad things.
Been living in Singaporeans for 20+ years. This video i can say it's totally true and well made informative. Wish our fellow singaporeans could watch this video and compare with the other country public transportation and than think about criticising our public transportation again.
To be fair there're also other ways that other cities' public transportation are better e.g. Sydney & Melbourne's trains may be less frequent & more expensive, but have more seats, while HK's MTR & London's Tube have more cross-platform interchanges although they're more expensive & their stations aren't as open-concept in design. So I guess there's some trade-offs. & Singapore doesn't have so much political pressure to contend with e.g. worrying about industrial action if it replaces conductors & other staff with more automation
When there is a disruption to the service, backup plan such as deployment of buses sets in to ease the congestion. The land transport authority will then issue a fine that may cost the operator of the MRT several hundred thousands, this ensure accountability n the operator will seriously maintain the system in tip top condition.
And it is always the Singapore passengers who have to put up with all the delay, inconvenience and full payments without refund nor compensation, even after the hefty fines by LTA.
@@lavenderlavender4985 I agree. China is spectacular precisely because they are constantly building convenient public facilities at a rapid rate in spite of its size. And Shenzhen is one example, as the rail network is continuously expanding along with the city at large, and the train arrival timings always maintain their pace.
if the political system of one country can't enforce positive changes into reality, that's a crippled system. if the political system cannot allow self correction to fix the problems of itself, the country is doomed.
NY subway system is more than a century old yet this video wants to compare it to a city that built their system in the 1980s. It would be easy for the NY system to modernize but tell me, what community in NY is willing to shut down a line and stations to modernize and brag about it? The cost to the commuters and city itself if one line was to shut down.
Comparing Singapore with the US is like comparing apples and oranges. The MTA was built almost 100 yrs ago and NYC is so many times bigger than Spore. But then again Spore has a society that is very civilized and responsible and is able to take advantage of the latest technologies. I've been to NYC and Singapore and I am very impressed with the cleanliness and efficiency of the Spore MRT and island transportation system.
Japanese are known for their obsession with cleanliness. Forget about rubbish. You can drive there for hours and hours and you won't even see a _dustbin._
Ultimately, US's subway project failed, not because they do not have the tech or the management skills, but because some people there are lawless and behave like animals, but the authorities there are not willing to do anything about it for whatever reasons. That's why even if you import the whole MRT system from Singapore to US, it will still turn into junkyard in less than 2 years.
"US subway project failed" The NYC system has been in operation for more than a century and that itself is bragging rights over Singapore. If it wasn't for the subway, NWY wouldn't be the richest city by GDP in the world. Outdated for sure but has continued to transport millions of commuters daily. Not easy to shut down a line and station just to compete on looks and brag to other cities when locals depending on the line don't have other choices. Another, I've been to NYC twice and taken the subway. Crime is overblown as NYC is one of the safest cities in the USA. Cameras and undercover law enforcement are all over the subway system.
There were a period of time our MRT broke down often. It has improved and now a lot people appreciate the system. In terms of consistency, the japanese are way better. HK MTR is fast too
breaking down or not is a small hiccup. But not having it at all or not having it not properly integrated with where work and residential are located, like KL and Penang, is worse
Disagree with Japan, the multitude of not connected stations and platforms and different companies operating their system and havin to adopt each's payment system is irritating, not to mention the cost. It cost less than USD 2 to ride the entire line in Singapore whereas thats the cost to cross 3 stations in Japan. Ditto HK as well. The closest and perhaps the one that beats Singapore is Taipei.
@@Jamesdevil a check on SMRT and public bus fares online will show that some journeys actually costs more than $2/-. The same distance of journey in KL public transport costs only a fraction of Singapore.

Singapore is best country in the solar system. Best brains, best airport, best talents, bester best. No imperfection, no poverty, no oldest profession in the world, no hunger, no beggar, no vagabond, no lice, no bedbugs.
Cheap is expensive. And how many executives will think of doing business elsewhere after having lived in Singapore? Many, of course, but their souls will weep and yearn for the cleanliness, safety and comfort of Singapore.
Vandals are arrested and imprisoned immediately which leads to a clean and effiecient MRT system. This is sorely lacking in the west which leads to many social and infrastructure problems.
If you think that it is just enforcement that contributed to a clean mrt in Singapore, then you have very little clue as to why countries like Singapore are so successful. It is the government that adopt policies that put the welfare and interests of the people Frist. Before ideology, before profits, before greed. Singapore is successful because it never take its eyes off the fundamentals: roofs over people's heads, food on the table, education for their kids, meaningful, well paying jobs, and the ability to save for retirement and access to healthcare. Happy people, fulfilled people do not vandalized. You can literally give them a spray can and tell a Singaporean they can vandalize their mrt trains and they won't get arrested and they still won't do it. Because they don't find fulfillment in destroying public properties because they have a stake in their countries. Those that don't are the people who vandalized their country and no amount of enforcement will change anything.
That’s because the government planned it that way, to limit the number of cars on the road since the scarcity of land, the US wanted to do the same thing, instead many state governments tried to reform the public transport in their respective states, but every single time, proposal bills are strucked down by lawmakers backed by the automobile industries, that is why public transports left under-maintained and outdated, its by design, make the whole commune experience so unpleasanat so more people will buy their own cars instead.
I remembered many years when I was in Dubai on a company assignment trip. I have met an Indian who worked for the company that I was visiting and we some casual conversation. Then he told me that Singapore is rich, well organized and developed that is because Singapore President in an Indian who has managed Singapore well. That was the time when Singapore President is an Indian descend and his name is Nathan. I can't stop laughing inside of me.
The trains and surroundings are not vandalised because vandalism carries the punishment of caning here (it hurts like crap, only less than childbirth and the scars can last for years)
it always feel good when i see videos from other countries praising our public transport. but it is definitely not as perfect as mentioned in this video. i'm glad you mentioned the breakdowns later on in the video, but it is still quite brief. for example we have trains collision on separate occasion before. but i do agree compared to many countries our trains are still reliable.
Singapore system is newer yet this video wants to compare it to the NYC system a century old??? Is it worth it to shut down a line and the stations it serves just to modernize and brag about the looks to Singapore and other cities? Shutting down a line would cause havoc for hundreds of thousands of daily commutes. Not enough buses and NYC economy would take a hit.
Singaporeans, follow the rules or they can get fined for eating and drinking inside the MRT. Americans: why follow rules? We want our freedom of everything under the sun😂😂😂
I literally just saw a young chap in uniform (shall not name the organisation) drinking on the MRT. No need to get too cocky here. And there is a difference between "not following rules" vs "no rules". Eating and drinking are not banned on the NYC Subway, so how do you break them?
Well, in Russia we don't have such rules and signs and don't care much about rules in general anyway and live by our own conscience. But no one eats or litters in subways and public transport because that's just basic common sense to us.
Honestly even if the US had good public transit, most people would still be car dependent because they are not willing to ride a bus or train that is dirty, vandalised, and the fear of being harassed by misbehaving passengers. They got to put more strict laws and actually enforce them to keep public transit clean and safe just like Singapore.
Singapore builds MRT systems according to the needs of the people. China is the country to look at in terms of speedy development within a short time frame.
This map that was shown is the up to date one. In another 10 years, t 20 more stations will be built. Finally connecting Singapore from any where within more intricately
Singapore beat US subway hands down. There’s absolutely no way, US subways is going to compare with China. Absolute! It’s like comparing 1900s US subway with 21 century China subway!
What struck me as most incredible is how much plan the Singaporean government makes ahead. Jurong East Station is an elevated interchange for the two earliest lines in the system and is located at a compacted subcentre in the west. Despite having been opened for over 30-more years, it's recently being expanded to accommodate a third line that will stop at new elevated platforms. That's some foresight other Chinese-populated cities like Shanghai or Hong Kong didn't have, building their metro systems. It makes you wonder, though, what happend to the Downtown Line and its weird loop at city centre.
Wasn't that due to the Nicoll Highway collapse? They had to readjust the planned lines and thus made this weird loop. It's confusing, but i guess it kinda works.
I admit that SG's gov't planning ahead sometimes doesn't go to plan, or misses out some parts e.g. cross platform interchanges were scrapped from Promenade & Bright Hill stations, while Outram Pk, Choa Chu Kang, HabourFront, Orchard, Dhoby Ghaut & Caldecott stations missed out on having cross-platform interchanges despite having 2 rail lines parallel to each other. LTA also gave up connecting Jln Besar & nearby Rochor stations with an underpass to make transfers between them more convenient supposedly as its was too complicated as they also wanted to tunnel North South Corridor above it (which some may feel is a policy that isn't car-light enough). Additionally I find the side platforms at Telok Ayer, Chinatown, Bishan & MacPherson stations more claustrophobic since unlike many side platforms at other countries, we have an opaque wall running right thru the middle of the station
Singapore beat the US in everything. Singapore, not the US, is the shining city on the hill, an example to follow by developing countries of the world, today one of the most affluent and influential.
MTA = Metropolitan Transportation Authority, a public benefit corporation overseeing public transportation in the New York City Metropolitan Area (12 counties in New York State and 2 in Connecticut). The operator of the New York City subway is MTA New York City Subway. The MTA is an umbrella agency that operates buses, commuter rail, bridges and tunnels in addition to the subway. 😊
I hear this NY subway is the worst anywhere. Even NK has a better subway more organised and cleaner, not mention nations like China, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, France, Spain, Germany and so on.
If I can buy car as cheap as in the US, who want to ride mrt. The reason is because lots of ppl in US have car. Sg don't. Also, Sg government got no issue taking the land from public.
Hmmm... The initial generation of MRT stations also double up as shelters in the event of terrorism, weather or war. I wonder if the newer gen stations have this feature as well...
IMO, the subway in New York are pretty much the worst you could expect. I have not been there yet but those complaints are very widespread and it does not look like they will ever fix those problems. Personally, I have been to the Singapore MRT and it has exceeded my expectations, and even though it is not as large, it is as good otherwise as the Shanghai Metro which I also have been on to.
- Having taken various type of train lines , I’d say the ones in Singapore , Taiwan & Korea ( South of cox ) are quite on par / equivalent . Heck , even the ones in Paris seems way better than NYC .
Once a youtuber said I’m from a “third world”. Many Americans don’t even know where’s Singapore. Majority of the Americans are not as well travelled as Asians. They should step out n see the world esp Asia then they will understand why US is so worry abt China.
Many Americans have never stepped out of their country. And, to those who ever travelled, most of them still ended up in another western country. They are just like a frog in the well and to them, the world revolves around America. 😂

Lies again? Ezlink Card USD SGD
Ah, very interesting! Thanks for sharing!@@kaister901

This idea came from the London Underground during the Battle of Britain in 1940.

Thanks for your kind words. We are glad that the video was informative :)
The land transport authority will then issue a fine that may cost the operator of the MRT several hundred thousands, this ensure accountability n the operator will seriously maintain the system in tip top condition.

if the political system of one country can't enforce positive changes into reality, that's a crippled system.
if the political system cannot allow self correction to fix the problems of itself, the country is doomed.

Even china is more futuristic
Japan is another top notch country in hygiene and cleanliness. It is a way of life for them.
"US subway project failed"
The NYC system has been in operation for more than a century and that itself is bragging rights over Singapore.
The ban of chewing gum, whilst often ridiculed, was actually quite important to ensure that MRT trains do not become a mess.

Taipei transit beats Singapore in reliability too.
The closest and perhaps the one that beats Singapore is Taipei.

the window thing only happens on the BP LRT, which is coincidentally our worst line, and also the windows rarely do the changing thing anymore lmao
@@antant9523 Not true. It's also on SBST's LRT. But not activated as much. You can see clips of these on TH-cam.
Always very proud to be a Singaporean 🇸🇬 🙏!
Singapore is best country in the solar system. Best brains, best airport, best talents, bester best. No imperfection, no poverty, no oldest profession in the world, no hunger, no beggar, no vagabond, no lice, no bedbugs.
Actually, prostitution is legal here
Singapore is world class
Even subway and metro in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur are much better what you have in New York.
Not gonna lie basically every Asian country has much better stuff than usa
Idk why some Asians decided to move to USA 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Whatever if they wanna go to usa I can't force them not to go anyway
I like how effort was made to get the many non-standard English pronunciations right.
Loved the MRT in Spore.❤
Us too!
Makes me feel grateful to be a Singaporean.
i think something important to note is that sg has a population of around 5-6 million, so over 50% of the population uses mrt daily
I told him that Dubai developments look more like Singapore. Then he told me that Singapore is rich, well organized and developed that is because Singapore President in an Indian who has managed Singapore well. That was the time when Singapore President is an Indian descend and his name is Nathan. I can't stop laughing inside of me.
😂
Please don't insult Singapore when you compare Singapore with US.
Mr Ong Teng Cheong is my favorite Singaporean politician
The trains and surroundings are not vandalised because vandalism carries the punishment of caning here (it hurts like crap, only less than childbirth and the scars can last for years)
Caning solves everything, fact!
it always feel good when i see videos from other countries praising our public transport. but it is definitely not as perfect as mentioned in this video. i'm glad you mentioned the breakdowns later on in the video, but it is still quite brief. for example we have trains collision on separate occasion before. but i do agree compared to many countries our trains are still reliable.
Singapore - my favourite country ❤❤
Singaporeans, follow the rules or they can get fined for eating and drinking inside the MRT. Americans: why follow rules? We want our freedom of everything under the sun😂😂😂
Entitled arrogant fats think everyone needs freedom and democracy
And the results can be seen by public 🙂
I literally just saw a young chap in uniform (shall not name the organisation) drinking on the MRT. No need to get too cocky here. And there is a difference between "not following rules" vs "no rules". Eating and drinking are not banned on the NYC Subway, so how do you break them?
But a lot of foreigners especially PRCs often get away with breaking the rules and regulation of riding the MRT.
Well, in Russia we don't have such rules and signs and don't care much about rules in general anyway and live by our own conscience. But no one eats or litters in subways and public transport because that's just basic common sense to us.
the common feature in US is old trains, roads, stations and old congressmen and women, well they go hand in hand I suppose.
At this point in time...., Almost most developed countries is beating the USA in infrastructure projects
Now I see where the inspiration for Master Splinter and his radioactive students came from
😂
Singapore builds MRT systems according to the needs of the people. China is the country to look at in terms of speedy development within a short time frame.
It really says a lot that my only "complaint" about the MRT is it dosent operate 24/7 so i have to cab my drunk ass home 😂😂
Good thing too. Imagine all the mess the drunkards will create.
My country is NZ, I hope my country can have a good subway system in the future as well
awesome! glad I know why everyone dislike Tony Tan.
I live in SG. I think this is just standard for many countries in east asia. Can check Taiwan or Japan's, even better.
Nope, TW is not better. Japan is though
Best thing about Singapore plus of course the people !
Yes our local people and the filipinos here bcoz they are clean and friendly.
Facts.
yippee!!!!!
I was planning to visit again the Big Apple. But after seeing the subway shown here, I have changed my mind.
This map that was shown is the up to date one. In another 10 years, t
20 more stations will be built. Finally connecting Singapore from any where within more intricately
Thank you for putting Singapore on the map !🎉❤😊
You are most welcome!
Glad that you have give due credits to the late Mr Ong teng chong ❤
As a Singaporean I am actually proud to be sg rean these trains are from 1987
Singapore beat US subway hands down.
Singapore has always been better than the US in all aspect
Right i've lived here for 20 years and am just finding out that train loads are displayed, pretty cool
Singapore beat the US in everything. Singapore, not the US, is the shining city on the hill, an example to follow by developing countries of the world, today one of the most affluent and influential.
Well the US is not a city, so of course it is never the "shining city on the hill". And nope, we do not beat the US in everything.
@SGsupremacist there is an obvious reason they outgrew that. Same thing will happen to any other society which tries that, Asian ones included.
We are small but we have everything here 😍
The MRT is incredible, best and cheapest public transport I've experienced.
As a singaporean, I am sibei howlian
Now people can see who is the "Foolish one" not to implement the MRT.
Hmmm... The initial generation of MRT stations also double up as shelters in the event of terrorism, weather or war. I wonder if the newer gen stations have this feature as well...
Great to know! Are the current older MRT stations still serving as shelters?
The Downtown line has 6 CD stations which can be used for shelters during war and disasters.
Condolences from Singapore 🙏🏻🇸🇬
IMO, the subway in New York are pretty much the worst you could expect. I have not been there yet but those complaints are very widespread and it does not look like they will ever fix those problems. Personally, I have been to the Singapore MRT and it has exceeded my expectations, and even though it is not as large, it is as good otherwise as the Shanghai Metro which I also have been on to.
Even London would blow your mind if you're from New York.
Why is TH-cam thinking that I'm typing in Arabic?@@موسى_7
But yes, you are right. Haven't been to the London Underground either but at least it does not have those problems
- Having taken various type of train lines , I’d say the ones in Singapore , Taiwan & Korea ( South of cox ) are quite on par / equivalent . Heck , even the ones in Paris seems way better than NYC .
@@Guyver02USAI’ve seen a North Korean subway on a HK tv show, looked better than nyc’s
I am from Singapore 🇸🇬
excellent video..
Once a youtuber said I’m from a “third world”. Many Americans don’t even know where’s Singapore. Majority of the Americans are not as well travelled as Asians. They should step out n see the world esp Asia then they will understand why US is so worry abt China.
I'm not surprised. Many American people live in their arrogance bubble.
"Many Americans don’t even know where’s Singapore. "
Many Americans don't even know where is Washington D.C!
Many Americans have never stepped out of their country. And, to those who ever travelled, most of them still ended up in another western country. They are just like a frog in the well and to them, the world revolves around America. 😂
If you think Singapore's subway is amazing, you should check out the subway systems in Chinese cities like Shanghai and Shenzhen. They are simply mind-blowing.
