Such a beautiful and much-needed conversation. I was listening with my whole body and I felt so safe. Thank you for reminding us that our emotions matter and that it is possible to heal the trauma that our body stores. 🙏🏾 ❤
I also felt safe. This has helped me so as I’m newly grieving the loss of my 26 year old daughter and am now raising her 4 and 5 year old girls. What I really heard that I’ll meditate on is that our body holds our emotions which trigger our thoughts, NOT the other way around and that resonates. Thank you both Queens, for doing the work and helping the collective heal!
I just saw Dr Anita at Woman Evolve 23. Before the conference I kept having dreams of the color mint green. I told my best friend it was a meaning behind the color and thats why i kept seeing it leading up. Dr Anita graced the staged and touched my heart with her words wearing mint green. Ive been on such a long hard journey grieving the loss of my mom. Since her transition ive been running on empty. I needed her message and Im so glad I came across this video and channel. Its my confirmation. I love this space. Great video!🖤
You are blessed to realize that the Holy Spirit is confirming what He puts into your spirit, that Yes, He's got You! You are* on the right path, and He cares about every* need You have 😍🥰. ❤️🔥
I’m in my final year of grad school, working on my masters in mental health counseling, & this BLESSED ME! I wasn’t familiar with Dr. Phillips or Devi, but I believe this popped up as a recommended video for a divine purpose. I also want to be a therapist that walks in that intersectionality of mental health & spiritual belief in God… this conversation gave me the confirmation, validation, & encouragement that I’ve been needing/praying for. Thank you both for following God’s call on your lives. Because of your obedience, lives are & will be changed!
I ❤ Dr. Anita! She explains so eloquently, what I believe GOD has been showing me over the past few years in The Word!! Allowing me the space to know what GOD has been showing me is real and true. That our bodies are interwoven creations and all parts need care for our beings to have the full experience of GOD'S design!! Counter-societal...Yes BUT GOD never did anything for society approval anyway!! Any time I hear her speak it touches my ❤ in a way the spirit leaps!! Where I thirst and hunger more in praise and in seeking!! Great conversation 🎉🎉
Some conversations are so validating and encouraging of where I’m at in my journey- and this is one of them! I’m listening in a hot bath w/ added clay and magnesium salt flakes. Just before she announces the soul work, I’m rubbing and embracing my body- a body I’ve been so judgemental of.. and now I’m crying and laughing because that’s the soul work! Thank you BOTH ❤️❤️🤲🏾
The garden language speaks volumes to me, as a planter and gardener! I know from a deep place within me that this work, ‘The Garden Within,’ came from God’s revelation! So grateful!
12:38 I really wanted to hear more on how to have God as your foundation but still incorporate therapeutic means, I struggle w/ that sooo much lately on my spiritual, mental walk 22:39 “it’s also about what we don’t let escape”, yesss‼️ guarding your heart is so important in both ways: what you let in and what you let out 26:28 “we can’t think pass our bodies” … whewww , I’ll never discredit cognitive release but w/out release of the body as well, we’ll be stagnant in healing … that’s why I’m so big on mind-body-spirit work together This interview was so beautiful, had me teary-eyed because it hit so many areas I’m facing in my personal life. I learned of Dr Anita & her new book by a Lauren London interview and I’m so excited to be transformed by her work and add it to my toolbox.
Definitely a system that works interdependently!!! I like the way she put that. No codependence. There is also individual work to be done to work interdependently. Let’s heal on purpose!! Effectively.
Grateful for the algorithm first recommending this podcast with Queen Afua. This is my second episode and I feel so aligned, safe and appreciative of Dr. Anita. I’m ready to binge her work. Thank you Devi for making the space for the conscious breathe, it was needed. Thank you for this platform. Bless you, your team and all the guests you’ve had and will have. Much wellness 💛
Harriet Tubman annointing....I have always called my darkest days Underground Railroad of the Mind...(poem of that name published.) I so appreciate Dr. Anita saying that....
I am having a unique experience of being speechless. This powerful discussion provides so much holistic enlightenment that my mind, body and spirit are still in the “metabolizing” of the wisdom deposited through these two beautiful spirits. Thank you ❤
Emotion is the base - that depends on what you qualify as the base. Your spirit must first be born again and brought to life by the Holy Spirit. (That’s what Eve lost in the garden). Then the Bible says you work out your soul’s salvation (soul meaning the healing & perfecting of your mind, will, & emotions). Emotional healing is very important, But for the believer it starts with a regenerated spirit that has been reconnected back to the Father. That’s the basis of experiencing true fulfillment (in this world and the world to come)!
Praise Yah. Absolutely. She teaches a return to the garden of emotions. Not happening. Its now about the kingdom. Theres a reason why at "the east of the garden of Eden God placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way. To guard the Way to the tree of life." I cant imagine, How tragic, traumatic and emotionally devastating for man to get "drove out" of the garden. Drove out- Hebrew word גָּרַשׁ gawrash, "expelled, cast out, driven away, divorced, put away, ..." Being divorced, kicked out, to face the end of a close intimate relationship. Kind of like a death, a dying that you have to live with.
It is when we are in our original state which is state of being that we experience peace and joy. That is by feeling every emotion without shame. God covers Adam and Eve when they feel shame when men fell because of sin. When we are vulnerable with God, He covers us with His love and we become one with Him. Love you Dr. Anita ❤
‘We didn’t have the language but we did have the systems. Learning to be devotional with our bodies in support of our souls’ 🌬️🌪️🔥🤍👑🏁 Very well said Devi!!!
What I love about Dr. Anita Phillips is that she has discovered "as a wo(man) thinketh, so is s(he)" and how to teach it in a way that is remarkable! This is my christmas gift to myself, this book, The Garden Within. I am a life long learner and teacher of truth through my life as such. She is rocking the nation and I support this message to grow!
This conversation made me weep for some reason at certain parts. Thank you Devi for continuing to helping me heal..all the way through cyberspace. Blessing Dr.Phillips. I look forward to reading your book.
I, like Dr. Anita, am a Mental Health Therapist, Minister, a survivor of Sexual abuse, I’m also a survivor of spiritual abuse as well. I agree with all Dr. Anita says about assisting those who’ve experienced Trauma. You have to be called to this work. ❤❤❤ it’s so rewarding ❤️🩹
I'm at minute 20:18 and the amount of journaling I have done from just the beginning of this episode is crazy. I consider myself in my post Christian era but the wisdom is Universal. Sidenote: Your blouse is gorgeous Devi
My experience is that the pain the Creator has us go thru as a byproduct of growth is bearable (soreness) and doesn’t last long. It’s the pain from suffering - that’s in our own desires apart from God that is traumatic & catastrophic devastation to the body. I finally know the difference. Grace taught me! When a plant gets a limb snapped off, I’m sure there is a different kind of bearable pain when the limb begins to grow back. Stem in tact.
Your story is so beautiful. thank you for sharing bc your wisdom. i did not know that jesus was an emotional man whom never judged his emotions. that to me is inspiring. emotions are a human experience, and they should be celebrated, not categorized as good or bad. like the colors of a rainbow, each emotion has different imagery and a different character. all are beautiful
Joy is an internal eternal. It’s a fruit of the Spirit. So it’s only as ebb and flow and fleeting as your feet are for being aligned with the Spirit. Just like we CHOOSE happiness, we must choose to walk in the Spirit OR we WILL walk in the flesh m, which is where all those temporal, fleeting experiences occur
18:50 Im confused with Dr. Anita's interpretation of that parable in Matthew chapter 13. In neither the NLT or in the KJV does it use emotional descriptors to describe the soil or seed or what became of it. I'm wondering if there's a greater scope of context that she Is pulling from here in regard to the sun in verse 6 and in regard to the thorns perhaps in verse 7. Although There within the explanation of the parable it does say "The seed that fell on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy." Matthew 13:20 NLT I can understand now how Dr. Anita reached her conclusion.
Confusion is understandable. God (Yah) is not the author of confusion. Yah'shua (Jesus) did not say what she said. Its simple. Emotion obviously is a key component of our being, as it is her teaching. She added an emotional aspect/context to his "parable." The science (knowledge) of what plants do is sound. Soil is not made of nor contains emotions. We are made of soil but we are not made in the image or likeness of plants, trees, nor any other created thing. Emotions are important. Its what we feel. How we are moved by certain things. Without them we wouldnt fully experience and appreciate our humanity. Emotions matter, but they are not who or what we are. To make of them more than what the Creator made them to be, is simply idolatry.
Our wholeness is much more flexible than we are aware of. That dead plant 🌱 nourishes another part of the earth. Each one IS feeding the other. All things CAN work together AND apart. That’s definitely interdependent. Dependence on the Source alone. The sum of all the parts equal the whole…
Had the opportunity to participate in a panel with this wonderful woman of God years ago when she began sharing this work. Dealing with trauma now and would love to reconnect with you Dr. Anita, If you see this. Dr. Tara Raleigh, NC

God doesn’t have to explain why or what is happening around us but we just need to remember He is always good and always will be 😊
Always!!
“I’m so busy trying not to be surprised by pain that I’m allowing myself to be in pain all the time”this was soooo good. Such a ah ha moment for me. 🤍
"We need to stop believing that our emotional pain and our spiritual power are mutually exclusive." WOW

How we feel matters. That whole section on the parable of the sower was genius. ❤
"Systems Theory". That was our core curriculum in Nursing School. Now that I know about it, I see it everywhere and in everything. Its truly amazing.

Question Ma'am (s): Can a Revolutionary child born in 1980 understand Revelation 22:2 and holistically separate personal and business
She makes you face your vulnerability.
I’m a fan of CBT and DBT. The receiver has to do the work. There are all kinds of tools that work when you know how to work them.
Dr Phillips is not a fan of CBT because she is more focused on the heart and spiritually, her knowledge of the Word trumps trauma therapy from her institutional perspective.
But, again, interdependence is important. We do the same when it comes to using our effective tools
