With that, I thought that it wouldn't be the best idea to keep the recovery a tether, but I couldn't think of anything else, so I just rolled with it, and I wanted to give the hook it's TF2 properties. Here was my idea: the hook would target the ledge when possible, but you could also grapple players. When you do that, the opponent isn't stunned, but you retract your hook towards the hooked player as a moderate speed, which basically means you can ride the player as they move around, which can be a great help when recovering, and once you reached the player, you could influence the direction the player was knocked away with your left stick, and follow up with an aerial of your choice easily. I was nearly finished animating this recovery when I told some people that this was my idea. Quite a few people weren't happy with it, saying that both Byleth and Joker having a tether would make the inclusion of one for Heavy annoying and stale. Then, Reddit user u/AFltngShpngLst gave me the idea for the recovery you see in the video. I thought it was an amazing idea, so I scrapped my original idea for the up special entirely and designed the up special to be an altered version of Mega Man's recovery. This way, I could incorporate all of the TF2 mercenaries into the moveset by having one of them randomly show up whenever used, which was a relief, since cramming all of them into a final smash just wouldn't work (it also allows for their presence in competitive matches, since final smashes aren't a thing in competitive). I understand that not using the grappling hook just seems like skipping out on something obvious, but it ended up being a part of my motive to keep this moveset as unique as possible when compared to the ideas other people had on Heavy's moveset. Update: Now Min Min gave us the 3rd DLC tether lmao. 2) As much as I would like for it to be that way, there will be big problems no matter what. Look at it this way: there are multiple final smashes where the main character is joined by their party members or alternate versions of themselves, helping the main character in the final smash, but they never do anything more extreme than what the main character does. For example, in Shulk's final smash, he is joined by Dunban, Riki, and Fiora, but they all just slash whatever melee weapon they have on the opponent. In Ness and Lucas's final smashes, they are joined by their friends from their respective games, but they just stand there. In Mega Man's final smash, you have a bunch of different Mega Men alongside the main one, plus Proto Man and Bass, but they all just fire their lasers at the opponent. These final smashes work because the joining characters do things that aren't too off character, and the final smashes, as a result, are adequate lengths. In TF2's case, the mercenaries all have such different types of play styles and ways they attack, that there are really only 2 ways to go about the final smash. One, you showcase all of the mercenaries and the ways they can attack, like Scout with constant jumping and shooting, Spy with backstabbing, Demoman with pipes and sticky traps, etc, but giving enough time to show off each character means that you end up with a final smash that would be something like 30 seconds, which is way too long. Cramming all of their unique fighting styles into a 10-12 second scene would just make it too crowded and overwhelming. The other way is where they just stand there and/or shoot. This makes a final smash that isn't too long, but it would just be boring/underwhelming. Having the mercenaries just stand there for support or to just fire their weapons without any flair to show how they play just wouldn't be true to the mercenaries. You could remove some of the mercenaries to make a final smash like the first one work, those being Spy, Engineer, or Pyro, but not including every mercenary would just be unfair to the ones not included. The reason I went with Medic alone is because the Heavy-Medic pair is so iconic, that you can just have that and get away with not having the other mercenaries, especially considering that Medic would be the only true support, done through the use of the Medigun. In hindsight, I think the best way to handle a final smash for Heavy is to incorporate some randomness to it, kind of like Sephiroth. I’m thinking that the final smash would call just one of the mercs at random. For example, the final smash could call in Soldier and have him rocket jump around and maybe market garden the opponent over the span of several seconds which leads to a final minigun firing by Heavy. Another example could be Spy, and have him backstab the opponent in some sort of dark cinematic, which again leads to Heavy firing his minigun. Another example could be Medic… which could just be how it is in the video. There are many ways to handle this, and this would be another way to include every mercenary without being too cluttered, which up-B tries to accomplish as well. 3) Indeed they are. knew from the start that the alts would be a touchy topic. There was just so much to pick from that settling on only 8 wasn't easy at all. First off, I thought that giving a TF2 character an alt that was just a color swap would be a sin, but I understand why having a default BLU alt would have been a good idea (yes, I understand I had BLU heavy in the video a lot, and didn't have him as an alt), or for every other alt to be a BLU one. Having the Police, Robo, Jotaro, and Bird alts be BLU could have worked. The reason I went with mostly RED alts was because I thought of this idea of being able to switch to a BLU version of your alt by inputting a button combination when selecting said alt (like when selecting the Punch-Out version of the Boxing Ring stage), or have it be based on if you're player 2 or not. You may think that it may be too convoluted, but I prefer this system for Heavy. Second, yes the Commie, Jotaro, and Bearded Expense alts are unrealistic, but that's the point of having these more obscure options. If I just settled with default RED, default BLU, Robo-Heavy, Gibus Heavy, Bird Heavy, Yeti Heavy, Princess Heavy, and Unicorn Heavy as the alts, it would definitely work, but that would just be kinda lame and generic in my opinion. There needs to be some more “out-there” alts to match the obscurity of the cosmetics in TF2. Some of you may think that I should have gone for all of the easy alts, some of you may think that I should have been even more “out-there,” but I know what we all want is to just pick any cosmetic and throw it onto Heavy to use (maybe use some sort of Mii Fighter system for cosmetics). 4) Partly because I'm a Mac main and rapid punches like that are cool to me, and partly because Star Platinum strangled me and forced me to give it to him. I feel like I could have handled that much better, either by giving him the Eviction Notice as he rapid-jabbed, or just by not giving it to him at all. 5) I can't really force every move to reference something, or incorporate weapons into everything. Heavy's TF2 gameplay is pretty simple in nature, just shoot gun, eat food, and punch people. He's gotta punch sometimes, because that's what Heavy does sometimes. Any references that were obvious to you guys were just ones that unfortunately flew over my head. Also, to those who are asking why Heavy, a big dude, has fast moves, then tell me why Bowser has a frame 6 command grab. 6) The only reason I have him a flip in the air was so I could just give him a bit more flair in the air. What I should have done was have him flail his arms and legs in small circles, kinda like he tripped over the air or something, or maybe even try to implement some crouch jump mechanic.
I really liked the recovery. It was smart way to include the mercenaries. Whenever I think of a recovery for Heavy, I always think of the teleportation spell, and maybe if it hits a player you swap with them.
Personally, I like the idea of all the mercenaries being in the final smash. Heavy could like run and tackle people, and whoever he tackles is put into some place, preferably dust bowl. Then, all the mercenaries just start shooting at the victim, as sentries pop up around to aid the team. The mercenaries are in front view, below the victim who is sprawling in the air. It ends with Heavy then running towards the victim as all their ammo runs out, with Heavy just crushing the victim with his fists. Another thing would probably be Down Special. Sandwich feels a little odd, probably working better as an item or a taunt. An Ubercharge mechanic similar to Cloud’s Limit Break might work better. The Medic will pop up and start charging Ubercharge (of course without any actual healing). When the gauge is full, pressing down special again would make Heavy invincible (besides from pits, water, and crushing) for about 6-10 seconds, all while giving him a more powerful moveset akin to Joker. The gauge is a little slower than Clouds.
@@dangerousdoings8066 I can see that final smash working. I feel like I just BS'd myself into thinking having the whole team in the final smash wouldn't work, idk. That down special idea is actually pretty cool, but I feel like it would take the campy aspect I feel like Heavy might have now and take it to a whole new extreme. I would prefer going one way or the other on the full guage: invincibility or a buffed moveset. Both sounds a bit too unbalanced.
The Medic may have performed surgery on Heavy before when he got the invitation... or the Medic is just always to the side of Heavy where we can’t see him with an Uber burst ready for when Heavy parries so he doesn’t take any damage when parrying
You know, if heavy is part of the winning team in team battle the victory screen would be him posing with the rest of the team, you know, the other fighters who won too
“Heavy, you look mad. What’s up?” “Why little masked child allowed to have gun and not Heavy?!” “Well, that’s Ren, codenamed Joker. He’s a member of an organization that calls itself the phantom thieves. They’re incredibly sneaky and leave next to no trace behind. My guess is that he smuggled that gun in. Besides, you have Sasha, don’t you?” “Sasha is not just gun! Sasha is beauty! Heavy wonders if little baby Joker’s bullets can outsmart Sasha’s.” “Well, how about we find out? Go get ‘em, tiger.” “Very well! IIIINCOOOMIIIIIIIIIIIING!”
"Pauling! Pick up!" "Hm? Oh sorry heavy. I was talking with palutena." "Who is this baby man with wings?!" "Hm? Oh that's pit. Guess that's why palutena had to leave early."
The reveal trailer should be like this: Joker pulls out his gun and kills someone with it. Heavy then appears behind him, and laughs in a menacing manner. “Your gun is for babies!”
I sy it should be, Joker gameplay, and in between one of the matches you hear "Heavy I've got work for you" While there's a ticking clock and then Joker finishes his opponents and Heavy creeps up behind him and goes "Come, we fight like men!" And the TF2 theme song plays as Heavy's smash intro card pops up. Gameplay begins
@The Internet Police Joker is from Persona 5. A PlayStation exclusive game. Cloud is form Final Fantasy VII. It took nearly 4 years for Cloud to finally appear on a Nintendo console that wasn't Smash. "Oh but Joker appeared in Persona Q2 and Cloud appeared in FF Theatrhythm, both on the 3DS" those games since they were merely spinoffs and not the main game they appeared in. If thats the case, Bridge Constructor Portal is a Valve game that appeared on the Switch. Not a TF2 game but still a Valve candidate isn't out of the question. That just means a character like Gordon Freeman is very viable. A character doesn't have to be on a Nintendo console to be viable. Also Banjo and Steve is proof enough that even western characters are viable.
@@ariuspierre7875 Since the other mercenaries are kinda behind heavy maybe the rest of the team would just stand in front of them, if its multiple heavies then they would just have to spread the teams out alot
I think what makes the opening part so great is the surprise factor. If this were a real Smash Bros. trailer, you don't who it's going to be just yet as it remains dark and somewhat silent after the Smash Cross opens up. It's only when Heavy starts speaking that people will start losing their minds. The only other "Heavy in Smash" fan trailer that's on TH-cam immediately tells you that it's going to be Heavy getting into Smash. No surprise, no speculation. It kind of takes the fun out of it.
Yea this is by far the more creative way to do it. I like the idea of the smash logo opening and you see a silhouette not sure what it is until you hear him speak just screams hype mode.
Scout: Is basically kind of a big deal Soldier: Rocket jumps to victory Pyro: Believes in magic Engineer: Builds the defence Spy: Is right behind you Demo man: Charges into battle Medic: Saws through the competition Sniper: Has a plan to kill everyone he meets Heavy: Has yet to meet one who can out smart bullet
POV: You're watching a smash direct, waiting for it to start. The starting soon screen fades to black, and after a brief period of silence, you here one thing and one thing only: "Some people think they can outsmart me."
What? I definitely DON'T want Heavy in Smash. Mostly due to the fact that the chances of him getting added are so low that Mr. Game & Watch's crouch dwarves it.
My idea for the final smash: Heavy throws something at the opponent or launches the opponent, and the opponent falls into a hole. The camera looks up and we see all 9 mercenaries pushing the bomb cart into the hole, the bomb falls and explodes, with the mercenaries at the top dancing/celebrating
@@kingcreeper1388 Well, the original post is pretty good. It shows the rest of the team helping out, the payload bomb exploding, and shows how a dance can break out easily in TF2.
The victory animation with the rest of the TF2 team is probably my favorite because then you can have other Smash characters in a team battle all pose with them. Heavy laughing is also good because Wario can laugh with him.
@@Mirageknight2133 Engineer: "I don't know." Heavy: "I think it was-" Both Engineer and Spy: "Shhh! You are dead!" Heavy: "Okay. [Ragdoll collision into ground]"
I thought of the greatest taunt for everybody. The high five, if any tf2 character does it then if someone taunts while facing them (and they are right next to each other) then they high five. Everybody forgets the friendly aspect of tf2
@@mee091000 nah it's either pyro or scout. And demo Demo is a melee fighter and yeas he also has explosives. Pyto is literally just Charizard with air blast. And scout has double jump and can hit you w a bat.
@@Mowdown I doubt that the hype would end that soon. Heavy in Smash would mean he's the first originally western IP to be a fighter AND a fighter whose game isn't on any Nintendo console.
to be honest i think if they give one invitation but as a contract to solitude of all nine mercenaries would be outstanding but like: some people think they can outsmart ¨us¨ and maybe broda, don´t dat can happen but, they can think. But the true is mate. and this come from all of us partner. That still have to meet someone outsmarts our bullets and then a light turn on revealing of the gang. and heavy say: and this - pulls out a smash letter and screen goes black- is our new job
7:28 The last victory animation with Heavy posing with the entire Mercenary cast is my favorite one. It would be a brilliant one as it literally references the end of every TF2 trailer and main theme.
God this is such a good fan made heavy showcase. If daddy Sakurai hears our cries, SSBU would most definitely be called the most innovative cross over, expanding the life cycles of both games
7:32 I'd laugh if they did this as one of his win screens, and it just shows the mercs awkwardly looking around. Like, *"How long are we gonna stand here?"* glancing around the area
This is such an outrageous concept but I absolutely love it! If there was a unique way to give heavy a custom set of cosmetics for the fun of it I think that would be absolutely hilarious
This is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!! I love the dedication you put to ALL of these animations! My favourite part is the win screen with all of the mercenaries posing, as well as the up special where a random teammate performs the flip taunt! And to top it all off, the video has a bunch of Smash Ultimate effects that you recreated yourself, such as the "final blow" effect and the transitions, making it FEEL as if it really was Smash Ultimate. Beautifully elaborated work!!
to me the render looks poorly photoshopped and the alts are all either offensive or not gonna work because they reference community figures and memes some people won't know
@@HAARGLaga Were you expecting a 2d Heavy? Because I don’t understand how else Heavy would look like besides this. If they feature memes then it’s even better to put them in, don’tcha think?
I'm really happy to hear that you liked those little touches I added. I did want to put a few effects in there to give it that extra Ultimate feeling. I know I could've made them look better, as I just did mainly kinda poor green screening with those effects, I didn't recreate them myself, but with the little time I had, it was the best I could do.
@@HAARGLaga First, I used the model that VALVe used in their shorts like Expiration Date. I don't really understand what you mean by poorly photoshopped. Second, the point of having obscure alts is that they should both look fun to use and have a reference that not everyone would understand, but those who do understand would get a kick out of. Yeah, you can easily make an argument about why the Communist alt shouldn't be added, but what is the problem with having an alt like Bearded Expense? Yes, it's a reference to a community figure that probably a huge number of Smash players wouldn't know of, but it's still a dope looking set of cosmetics on the Heavy that would be fun to use.
One of the few things missing is that I would love to see him have one of his taunts be the kazotsky kick and if enemy’s taunted near him they would also kazotsky kick
3:10 "Hello gamers it is I, Soundsmith Team Fortress 2 from the future uhmm i mean post-production i didn't notice this at the time i was playing but uhmm i'd like to point-out that the ragdoll for bearded's corpse is actually in a near replication of the Stock Family guy Death Pose this confirms my theory that Bearded expense is in fact Peter griffin from total drama island" -Soundsmith tf2, August 11, 2018
Make him a Mii Swordfighter costume. I feel like Demoknight wouldn't have enough moves for a unique moveset, and Mii Gunner has gotten enough good costumes recently, so Brawler and Swordfighter need some.
Shrimp he deserves to be a unique fighter. (If he kills a sword fighting opponent) “THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE”. (If he kills other tf2 characters, he gets his domination quotes). (vs soldier) I’ll inform your next of kin...THAT YA SUCKED. also can people stop ignoring engie for smash move set videos? As an engie main watching fricking pyro get a move set I just went “...really...out of all the characters...you choose pyro...wow just...wow” at least there’s a rivals of aether move set for him
Funny thing to think about is that Gabe would be 100% on board with this. We just need Sakurai’s approval. There was too much heart put into this for it to be dismissed so quickly.
The thing is, Smash Bros is for "good boys and girls", and we all know that TF2 might be REALLY REALLY iconic. It's not for "good boys and girls". And because there's guns. Since some of you might mention, Bayonetta made it in because Nintendo and Sega (made it...? Inform me on that one, but they have connection.). If you notice, Mai Shiranui didn't make it because "Bad girl" even though Bayonetta is MORE "badder" is because Nintendo and Sega had something to do with Bayonetta.
I think my absolute favorite part of this concept video is the win screen portion. They all feel like they belong in the actual game, especially given what they represent. When someone thinks of ‘heavy’ and ‘victory,’ the first thing they’d think of would likely be the victory dance, heavy’s iconic laugh, or his ‘meet the heavy’ video which ends with that even more iconic team picture. These three actions were animated to near perfection, especially the team picture. Well played N3Knowledge, well played
Stand User: Heavy Stand Name: Sasha Precision: B Power: S Speed: S Durability: A Potential: D Range: E His stand is basically Emperor, but Mini-Gun. Side stand: Sandwich Precision: E Power: E Speed: B Durability: S Potential: C Range: B His stand takes form of a sandwich, but is much more than that. Heavy can use his stand to heal himself, but it takes a while to do so. He also has massive shock resistance as he’s healing. He can also heal other people with his stand. The healing doesn’t take as long when he’s healing other people than himself. This is his more Defensive stand.
All of these animations make it feel like Heavy's going to easily get in. Hell, even his guns will fit right in due to having the same blend of realism and cartooniness of Joker's own gun.
I think this way you can use all the characters from TF2: Heavy-the playable character Medic-helps in final smash Pyro - deal damage to the enemy when Heavy is caught by his scout-Helps to make a double jump Engineer-creates a shield with the help of a distributor.when the time runs out the dispenser explodes and the Heavy one is stunned Spy-helps to evade Demoman-Long-range strike #1 Soldier-long-range strike #2 Sniper-long-range strike with accumulation
Most folks stick to the Stock stuff for Heavy movesets, but this is new. Utililizing almost every one of his iconic Weapons, and even his TEAMMATES! So unique and detailed, this needs more attention
[Pit] Gee, this guy is HUUUGE! Who is he? [Palutena] That's Heavy Weapons Guy, one of the strongest members of Team Fortress, working for both RED and BLU Inc. He's quite a buff guy, knows his moves, and loves his gun. [Pit] Oh, so it's all in the muscles huh? I like him already. [Palutena] Not quite, he's quite smart actually. From what I was able to gather, he got a PhD in... Russian literature. He's the muscles and the brains of his team. [Pit] A what? What's a PhD? [Palutena] Something you won't be able to get. Either way, watch out for his minigun, Pit. Heavy uses real bullets, not sword, arrows or magics. Beware his strong jabs and his shotgun too! [Pit] A shotgun? Who brings a gun to a melee fight? [Palutena] Who brings a flightless angel to a combat competition with space bounty hunters and plumbers? [Pit] Ah. Good point. [Palutena] Any way, watch out, he also brought some of his friends on the way. Watch out for that Medic, he can make people gods from what I've heard. [Pit] Got it, I'll show this mass of muscles AND brains how it's done!
This has opened my eyes. Heavy has so much potential. The rage quit- producing laugh? The taunt that kills? Dash attack that trips? Giant guns? Final smash that hits like a reverse dash? This guy is just a real bag of tricks, a real "expect the unexpected" moveset. I love it, great work!

The Medic will pop up and start charging Ubercharge (of course without any actual healing). When the gauge is full, pressing down special again would make Heavy invincible (besides from pits, water, and crushing) for about 6-10 seconds, all while giving him a more powerful moveset akin to Joker. The gauge is a little slower than Clouds.
.

"Oh but Joker appeared in Persona Q2 and Cloud appeared in FF Theatrhythm, both on the 3DS" those games since they were merely spinoffs and not the main game they appeared in. @@HAARGLaga First, I used the model that VALVe used in their shorts like Expiration Date. I don't really understand what you mean by poorly photoshopped.

Funny thing to think about is that Gabe would be 100% on board with this. We just need Sakurai’s approval. There was too much heart put into this for it to be dismissed so quickly.
But there’s GUNS sakurai doesn’t like guns
kenji montalban -cough cough- Joker -cough-
kenji montalban For his neutral special, he wields a *G U N*
Yep
Don't give me hope, this is just too awesome
Kinda don't want to hype ya, but a leak containing Heavy DID predict Min Min last month

dude, the down throw being an end of the line reference is FANTASTIC.
Half the comment section is "Never played TF2 but i want him in smash" and the other is "Never played Smash but i want him in anyway"
I guess I'm a rare case who's played both
I play both almost everyday lol....HEAVY FOR SMASH
I mean, look at the meme potential if heavy gets in smash
By "stand" they mean that they show his stand. But we can't see it since we're not stand users.
What time stamp?

Your next line is: I knew there was going to be a Jojo reference about this
@@uvealkhan_0629 I knew, I KNEW THERE WAS GOING TO BE A JOJ- NANI!?
Stand User: Heavy
Stand Name: Sasha
Precision: B
Power: S
Speed: S
Durability: A
Potential: D
Range: E
His stand is basically Emperor, but Mini-Gun.
Side stand: Sandwich
Precision: E
Power: E
Speed: B
Durability: S
Potential: C
Range: B
His stand takes form of a sandwich, but is much more than that.
I think this way you can use all the characters from TF2:
Heavy-the playable character
Medic-helps in final smash
Pyro - deal damage to the enemy when Heavy is caught by his
scout-Helps to make a double jump
Engineer-creates a shield with the help of a distributor.when the time runs out the dispenser explodes and the Heavy one is stunned
Spy-helps to evade
Demoman-Long-range strike #1
Soldier-long-range strike #2
Sniper-long-range strike with accumulation
Most folks stick to the Stock stuff for Heavy movesets, but this is new. Utililizing almost every one of his iconic Weapons, and even his TEAMMATES! So unique and detailed, this needs more attention
[Pit]
Gee, this guy is HUUUGE! Who is he?
[Palutena]
That's Heavy Weapons Guy, one of the strongest members of Team Fortress, working for both RED and BLU Inc. He's quite a buff guy, knows his moves, and loves his gun.
[Pit]
Oh, so it's all in the muscles huh? I like him already.
[Palutena]
Not quite, he's quite smart actually. From what I was able to gather, he got a PhD in... Russian literature. He's the muscles and the brains of his team.
[Pit]
A what? What's a PhD?
[Palutena]
Something you won't be able to get.
Either way, watch out for his minigun, Pit. Heavy uses real bullets, not sword, arrows or magics. Beware his strong jabs and his shotgun too!
[Pit]
A shotgun? Who brings a gun to a melee fight?
[Palutena]
Who brings a flightless angel to a combat competition with space bounty hunters and plumbers?
[Pit]
Ah. Good point.
[Palutena]
Any way, watch out, he also brought some of his friends on the way. Watch out for that Medic, he can make people gods from what I've heard.
[Pit]
Got it, I'll show this mass of muscles AND brains how it's done!
*MMM*
*BEAUTIFUL*

It would be cool if Pauline had contracts for characters in smash similar to the codec calls and guidance
Someone please make some fan made Pauline contract smash bro scripts
This has opened my eyes. Heavy has so much potential. The rage quit- producing laugh? The taunt that kills? Dash attack that trips? Giant guns? Final smash that hits like a reverse dash? This guy is just a real bag of tricks, a real "expect the unexpected" moveset. I love it, great work!
down taunt is a tauntkill too
