As proof of concepts goes, it doesn't get any better than that. Casting chains have been done for some time, but doing the entire process at home is impressive. Nice one buddy! 👍
We did this exact process with a tulip bracelet! It was successful but there was definite room for improvement. Thanks for the pointers, much appreciated
VOGMAN what a groundbreaking and beautiful result! Kudos also on perfectly applying the new PepeTools sander in this project. Thank you for taking us with you on this journey! ❤
Thanks Scott for the kind support. I'll be honest, with my limited skills, I'm not sure I would have had the patience to do this without the mini sander. It made light work of an otherwise fiddly job.
Every time I see these videos you make me want to buy everything needed for metal casting, too bad I can't do it because I live in an apartment building. Still waiting for the video on my fellow villagers of the Bluecast.
Wow, I know how to make these by hand (I am not good at it, just wanted to try) but never thought to try to forge one. I love how you incorporated the normal "wax sprue" into the design model. I envy people like you who can model what is in your head, I have to see/touch something in order to model it.
I'm still learning CAD if I'm honest. I enjoy it, but I marvel at the talented of those that make it look easy. I also marvel at the talent of anyone who can make a Cuban the proper way 😁😁😁
Thanks for sharing your experiences in casting a chain. If you are going to wear it on your wrist, you probably need to cast it as a open chain, and then get a clasp and jump rings from Rio Grande to finish it. They probably have items that are the same metal as your cast. I enjoy all of your reviews and demonstrations.
You need to look at some of my older stuff. This video will give you an idea. There's cheap DIY versions mentioned. th-cam.com/video/qxj5eUkAFUI/w-d-xo.html And whilst it talks about Lost PLA, the same thing applies to Castable Resin 😁
Amazing proof of concept. Once I get my Al bronze mixture just right (getting that stuff to wet out is interesting) I want to try some articulating pieces.
I want to try that now on stainless steel only because stainless steel doesn’t really have welded links together. It’s always always open links but doing this method with me, I would have welded links I like this video keep the good work. I like the video so far.
I'm so impressed with the outcome. Any Mexican chains coming soon? I see you use a different flask than normal. What's the difference apart from the holes please?
@Vogman, if you want to cure parts that are hard for light to reach through air (common curing way), then use a water container to submerge the part in water and then light up the container using a UV light reflector to cure the part there. Water is a really good medium for light to travel through:) I'm sure I'm late to the party with this comment, but if I'm not, I really hope it works for you:) Top videos as usual!!!:)
How small were the gaps between each link? If you don't mind telling me, of course. I've been trying to cast a similar piece but im worried i'm working with tolerances a bit too tight (about .25mm).
Fantastic! I'll be looking at doing something like this at some point, I'm sure. Love your videos. I've used your videos to get myself set up for casting and am having a bit of trouble getting a good seal on the Kaya Cast in the casting chamber side. Arbe is sending me replacement gaskets to see if that's the problem, but I was wondering if you had any tips for getting a good seal on that casting chamber side.
Amazing. I tried a file off of ch trader and were fused. Elegoo mars pro not the 2nd one siriya true blue cast. Would love someone who uses my exact machine to chime in on better settings. Vog love your videos been watching for few years now❤
I had one guy write and say he was going to report me to TH-cam. I told him I still had the casting so he was welcome to do so. I guess some people just don't understand the possibilities 3D printing have presented us with 😁
Amazing absolutely love your channel! I just got my mono 2 this morning so it's set up time now I was just wondering about the 3.0.2 software slicer with it I bought the mono 4k about 3 weeks ago but needed a second and love my 4k so with that mono 2 being on promotion price both mono 2 and wash amd cure for £199 I grabbed one! As of today it's that just for the printer or £338 for both so saved £100 it's a spare wash and cure anyway! OK what I was wondering was the 4K slicer I installed can I keep that going as well as the new mono 2 version I'm away to install or will I need to use the same one and change the settings everytime? It might not be an issue as use lychee now for the mono 4k all the time I'm getting good test prints in the validation test matrix but the right sided slider up the sode I'm still getting the step lines! Have you Any tips on how to get them gone or near gone?
99% of my casting is done using Siraya Tech cast. It's affordable and you get a nice big bottle for your money. It prints very well and it casts beautifully. However, sometimes alternatives are needed and Bluecast X One was perfect for this situation. I hope that helps.
The machines to make Cuban chain have been around since 1980, they are much faster than in 3D, in addition to the quality, hardness and final finish, is much better. There are many things where 3D printing is NOT competitive.

BS? I'm not sure I'd agree. This Channel is me... it's my interests... the things I like to do. I'm not sponsored by anyone which gives me the freedom to be and to do what I want. I was metal casting before I was printing. For me the two interests overlap and I know the same goes for many of my viewers. It might not suit everyone, but they don't have to watch.
I'm one of the 108K subscribers who disagree with your suggestion. If I only want to watch 3D printing reviews I have a number of options. But how does that help me with casting? And are those channels looking at printers from a casting perspective? When I'm looking for casting info those channels won't help me. I'm glad VOG is here to give his perspective and tips.
I started watching to learn about how resin printers can be used in the casting world so all the videos whether they are printer reviews with casting elements in them or specifically about casting with the use of a certain printer are useful to me. I don’t care what the casting may be, it’s the process I’m interested in watching. So I think it’s all valid, don’t like it? Don’t watch.
As proof of concepts goes, it doesn't get any better than that. Casting chains have been done for some time, but doing the entire process at home is impressive. Nice one buddy! 👍
Thanks buddy. It was fun 😁

Id love to see a better breakdown of how you did the chain in Zbrush.
Thank you for another great video. I like that you showed the failed casting as well as the successful one.
It was a learning opportunity so it needed to be shared 😁😁😁

Awesome you’ve come along way with your 3D design and casting over the years 👍
Many thanks. We all get better with practice. 😁
Mini Vogman has more bling than me!
You should see his choice of evening wear....
Thank you for bringing me here Tu!!!
@VogMan is that who you make all the jewellery for?
Mini Vogman? Yes. But he pays with resin tokens.
Looks fantastic, it’s an expensive hobby but I’m still going to have a go at it.

Please Cuban chain video full review
I love these videos. Don't pay attention to the haters.
Mind sharing the casting and flask temps you used for the bad and good cast?
Superb results. Great work especially for the one who is good at being lazy :)
Gotta be lazy. Work smart, not hard 😁😁😁

I can cast the appropriate fittings on the ends, or cast an open link to manually attach. It has great potential to some I'm sure 😁
@@vogman Your solution will be the best, I'm sure.
Very cool! Id love to see more articulated projects.
Great to see a project video from you! The result is amazing
Thanks for watching 😁
I will love for you to make a video on how to get started and hardware recommendations that will not break the bank.
This looks amazing well done.

I sure like your articulating castings. Very well done.

Just wow🎉
Thanks Kenny 😁
Do you have the file for it or can I purchase it
Nice video. Flawless. Wanted to ask how do you determine the gap between the parts?
anyone have a link for the cuban file? or does vog have the file somewhere for download?
Could do a tutorial on the spiral design?
The possibilities are endless, you could cast a rattlesnake rattle pendant with that
Amazing work, Guy's ❤🎉
Thank you so much 😀
gosh you're genius
You're very kind, but honestly it's a very simple concept 😁
Please, can you point me to where i can learn to add my sprues onto the 3d design
I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for... th-cam.com/video/ZR6Bw_zIK1s/w-d-xo.html
Excellent job 👍
Thanks John 😁
I've always wanted to cast something like this but shrunk to ring size.
Do you have a course where you are teaching how to create those files? Cheers
Perfect bro
This is dope
Outstanding
Absolutely brilliant video! Would you consider selling the files to cast it?
Very cool!
Thanks John
nice work mate, what burnout cycle did you go with for this ?
Can I buy the STL file for the cuban
I'm so impressed with the outcome. Any Mexican chains coming soon?
I see you use a different flask than normal. What's the difference apart from the holes please?
@VogMan would this be a compatible resin for my elegoo mars 3 pro?
@Vogman, if you want to cure parts that are hard for light to reach through air (common curing way), then use a water container to submerge the part in water and then light up the container using a UV light reflector to cure the part there. Top videos as usual!!!:)
Many thanks, but be careful with water and castable resins. Not all of them get on well with water and that can lead to poor castings 😁
@@vogman Oh!!! I don't do castable stuff so I didn't know that!!! I keep learning stuff in this channel!! Thanks man!!! Also, love the humour

Has Anycubic contacted you to review their new Photon Mono M5s?
Hello can you please share this file? Can it be found anywhere

I've seen people push the flask down with the tongs to get the seal, did you try that? Also make sure there are seals between each spacer.
Amazing. I tried a file off of ch trader and were fused. Elegoo mars pro not the 2nd one siriya true blue cast. Would love someone who uses my exact machine to chime in on better settings. Vog love your videos been watching for few years now❤

Nice I’d love to have that file
can i ask what investment you are using? always gives such a good result!
people actually didn't believe you cast that mindblowingly awesome dragon chain?!? 🤨 I'd take that as a compliment 😂

Hey big I have a quick question . Do you need an expensive computer to run the cad or the slicer program ?
Ive been wondering the same thing lately!
If you can print it, you can cast it 😁
WOW! looks beautiful!! I cant tell whether its a plated chain or 100% bronze, I'm really new to this! please clarify for me?
This is purely bronze. It shines up very nicely, though it will tarnish over time 😁
You're the bomb
Hello please suggest me best resin 3d printer for jewellery work on a budget
Here you go. Look at this. www.vegoilguy.co.uk/3d-resin-printing-jewellery.php
Is that the only resin you can do that with ?
For this process I'd recommend a resin that doesn't need curing. X One is a good choice. Power Resins do a few, but they're double the cost.
Have you ever used plaster of Paris with sand as an investment?
That's how I started out. It didn't work. 😁😁😁
Oh yea
👍👍👍
Quick question do you prefer this to the Siraya tech resin? Hopefully I win a free bottle hahahah but if I don't which one would you buy?
99% of my casting is done using Siraya Tech cast. It's affordable and you get a nice big bottle for your money. It prints very well and it casts beautifully. However, sometimes alternatives are needed and Bluecast X One was perfect for this situation. I hope that helps.

@vogman getting the file edited the bigger sprues like you did
Thank you so much for your channel you brought me into this
Can any one explain it to me please thanks you
Sorry may bé IAM dump but thé loops of thé chain will stick to getter to make them solid and not moveable
