Yes, please do more oil pastels. I actually use your teachings to help me with oil pastels. I am a beginner and it is actually difficult to find good video of oil pastel artist.
That water is so beautiful! I think you need to do more oil pastel videos. It’s fun to watch you learn as I am in exactly the same place with this medium. We can learn together!😊
Love that you experimented with this less familiar but fun medium. I am trying to be less critical and experiment more in art, and this was really what I needed to see today. Thanks for doing it and please do more of these - oil pastels and other experiments! I love the final art you did too.
Hi Emma! This video was very helpful! I have a set of 48. If you start off with the “harder” Paul Reubens for your under layers the new soft ones will layer on top. They are a fun change from watercolors once in awhile. Looking forward to more videos with these.😊
I’m hoping to purchase these but I have no experience with oil pastels. The butter texture is intriguing. I saw another reviewer use a blending tool instead of your finger, which seems messy. Also saw someone using silicone nail art tools to work the pastels. Thanks for the interesting review. Your painting looks great!
Emma, what a fun video to watch! You did a beautiful job with this. I purchased some oil pastels a while back and haven't used them yet. This looks like a great tutorial for me to give it a go. I hope you and your family are happy and well. Take care.
I have been doing oil and soft pastels for a while now just to learn new things. I actually purchased these oil pastels earlier this week and they are arriving on Saturday! Now I can hardly way to try them!!❤
Wow that’s fantastic looking especially with the water & grasses. You make it look easy for not knowing what you are doing. 😂 Yes I would like to see you do more! Thanks for sharing this fun medium.
I’m glad you did a review. I’m new to the medium and like seeing your take on it. On an aside, I’m still using watercolor paper from the subscription last year. Love the paper!
This was interesting. I have heard that with these pastels it works well if you use the harder Paul Rubens pastels for the base layers and then use these softer ones as your finishing layers. You can also use a palette knife to scrape some pastel onto your paper for an impasto look. And you can use the palette knife to scraffito through the pastels too. Very versatile to use. Your painting turned out lovely.
So happy you did this video. I just ordered the 72 set a few days ago after seeing 2 other reviews. Love love love Neocolor 11 so was inspired to try oil pastels. Please do more videos with this medium. Landscapes and flowers are my favorites. Amazon sells A pack of 2 white a pack of 2 black separately. Their larger - 1 white oil pastel is suppose to equal 7 regular size white. Looking forward to more videos on this new product. Never used oil pastels before… Aloha Sharon
Love these and I am also starting to try oil pastels. I bought a cheap set from the local store. What a waste of money so difficult to blend. So now I am on the hunt for a set. Your timing of this video is obviously meant. Thank you, Emma, for this great video. As always you are so amazing!
The Mungyo Gallery oil pastels are another great option. They are a little harder than the Haiya, but very enjoyable to use and blend out well. Both are at about the same pricepoint. I suggest getting a pad of pastel paper, such as the Canson Mi Teintes, as well for maximum enjoyment. Use the cheap set to sketch out your basic design.
Love what you did, the water looks great. It makes me wanna jump right into it! I wonder if these are comparable to Sennelier with you saying that they were easy to blend and really smooth
can't believe oil pastels are not your main medium, you're very expert at it, and I can also tell you've been to the beach enough, you have the eyes for it.
I have that exact set, it's like painting with lipstick, only had one that was a bit harder than the others. Am trying them on stretched canvas as an experiment but want to try them on a wood board and canvas board.
My goodness, you're a natural with those pastels !! Beautiful scene, and colors. I bet you're painting experience helped you here, because you're good at that too. Nice job. Makes me want to invest in some of those pastels. ☺☺💖💖 Karen from Canada
Well done! I think it turned out very well - especially the water. Keep working at it, and maybe try the blending tools so you don’t have to worry about finding a clean finger to blend the different colors without contamination!😁
Love this! it turned out great and it's so inspiring to watch your process 😍 They appear to be very similar to sennelier pastels but hopefully more affordable...I'm off to have a look now ☺️
You don’t need a fixative. Oil pastels dry down with air exposure over time, like oil paints. It will never completely harden but as long as there is no risk of it getting scratched or scuffed, it should be fine. Fixatives can actually ruin oil pastel paintings because it alters the colors and makes it very sticky/tacky, causing it to attract hair and dust, and sometimes creating an ugly sheen/gloss. Part of the beauty of oil pastels is its matte finish.
I've always heard they need the fixative, now I want to spray one of my paintings with the fixative (that I'm getting in a few days) and leave one plain and compare in a few months. 👍🏻😊
Interesting Emma I like what you did with the pastels,I’m just learning how to use them too and I also like the tips on those,it makes them easier to draw with. Thank you 🙏
google traduction (my english is bad) : Hello and congratulations on your painting! I bought the same pastels recently and I love using them, but I have a question: how to properly store them? Indeed, it is sometimes 22 degrees in my apartment even this winter because it is facing south and some people are losing oil... And soon, I will probably return to the South of France where I am from . I don't know how I'm going to make sure they don't melt during transport or in the summer when it can easily be 42 degrees outside and very hot inside too (during heatwaves). I can't put on air conditioning because I will still be renting... Do you know of completely insulated boxes to make them resist the heat? Can we put them in the fridge? I don't want to lose this beautiful box of pastels...
Pretty cool 👍. I like how the pastel have a different look and I think you did a great job! Thank you 😊. I don't think I'll ever buy them but they do look easy to use. Have a great day. JK FLORIDA USA 🇺🇸
Please tell me these are not like the Sennelier oil pastels, they are so soft and messy, I don't take them out of the closest. The Mungyo are still my #1 so far
Did you know these are a rip off of sennelier? They even have the same names and numbers as sennelier. Similar formulation, shape and wrapping. Just like the gallery mungyos are a rip off of neopastels with the same characteristics, names and numbers. I realized this when I bought a 48 set of neopastels and realized that it was the same exact set as the 48 set of mungyos. Same names, same colors, same numbers. Luckily the colors are not the exact same as they vary, but they are a copy nonetheless.
I would just add that this company is a respected art supplies manufacturer. They are not creating inexpensive products to underbid the market. However, they are a young company and to build their brand it is sold at a lower cost.
Yes, please do more oil pastels. I actually use your teachings to help me with oil pastels. I am a beginner and it is actually difficult to find good video of oil pastel artist.
Yes please do more oil pastels especially a sunset. This picture is beautiful!
As someone who has never used oil pastels, this demo was perfect. Thank you. I would love to see more.
I really appreciated seeing this oil pastel process! Thank you for stepping out and doing something you're not familiar with! It has inspired me! 😊
That water is so beautiful! I think you need to do more oil pastel videos. It’s fun to watch you learn as I am in exactly the same place with this medium. We can learn together!😊
Thanking you. Emma.I enjoy the contrast of the ocean, sea and land with oil pastel. Great work and I thank you.
Love that you experimented with this less familiar but fun medium. I am trying to be less critical and experiment more in art, and this was really what I needed to see today. Thanks for doing it and please do more of these - oil pastels and other experiments! I love the final art you did too.
It was fun to watch! I love the water!!!!
Yet another bow to your talent!! I loved this and the clouds look so realistic, I think like most of us we are very self critical . ❤
Wow! Loved how that painting turned out. Thank you for showing the practical side of learning oil pastels.
This is great to see another medium. Thanks for doing this, and hope you do more!

Looking forward to more videos with these.😊
So very cool. Turned out way good in my opinion for not being your medium of choice! Excellent!!
I think it looked great, especially the water. I personally love working with oil pastels. The colours are so rich and beautiful.
Just beautiful! That water looks soooo good! I’ve recently discovered pastels as well and want to try some landscapes.
I really enjoyed this. I have only tried working with this medium once. It's helpful to see your process. Id love you to do a sunset!

Excellent how you place in the colors for the lovely pastel art😊

@@akschauer Thank you. I will look using , following your suggestions
Wow! You did a fabulous job! 😍
Thank you for the review! I've heard nice things about these across the board. Definitely going on my wish list.
Thank you Emma!!! You're brave for sharing a new skill with us! Love the water! With love from a California Gramma ❤️
This looks beautiful Emma. ❤️
Love what you did, the water looks great. It makes me wanna jump right into it! I wonder if these are comparable to Sennelier with you saying that they were easy to blend and really smooth
I'm not experienced with oil pastels, so I appreciate the review. Such lovely colors! they would be fun to try.

I have not used oil pastels in year, they are a fun meduim! Thank you
That turned out great!
I just bought this set too! Am anxious to try it
Please do more on oil pastels.🙏
You have natural talent! Beautiful
Hi interesting medium. Maybe there is a tool for application process.? Card or brush could work . wonder if other tools would work???
I have a few oil pastels but haven't used them yet since oil pastels do seem trickier to use
I love watching this.
What a cool medium!! Love the water!
Nice technique with the grasses!!! I would reserve the blue for cooler colors in the background and bring warmer colors up front
Great job!😊
My goodness, you're a natural with those pastels !! Beautiful scene, and colors. I bet you're painting experience helped you here, because you're good at that too. Nice job. Makes me want to invest in some of those pastels. ☺☺💖💖 Karen from Canada
I like that this brand is eco-friendly. You pay more but they are healthier 🥳
Well done! I think it turned out very well - especially the water. Keep working at it, and maybe try the blending tools so you don’t have to worry about finding a clean finger to blend the different colors without contamination!😁
Thankyou for testing them out 👍 i think the Paul Rubens oil pastels would suit me better than the Sennelier ones
Love this! it turned out great and it's so inspiring to watch your process 😍 They appear to be very similar to sennelier pastels but hopefully more affordable...I'm off to have a look now ☺️
THATS SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Could you use some sort of thinner to make them blend a bit easier? Possibly oil paint thinner?
Ça fonctionne en effet avec de l'huile de térébenthine. Même s'ils s'utilisent souvent sans.

No they don't
Emma I never had used that pastel I thought they have to use with 💦 water. But is like 🖍️ crayons.
Oh that's beautiful Emma😍 Are these "Oil Pastel" water soluble like the Carand'ache "crayons"? How do you seal the painting?
No they are not water soluble. There are fixative sprays you can buy. I haven’t tried one yet
I believe the hairspray trick is for soft pastels. I’m not sure it would be good for oil pastels.?
My brother always used hairspray for pencil drawings. I also think it would work better on a dry medium.
I love them
Interesting Emma I like what you did with the pastels,I’m just learning how to use them too and I also like the tips on those,it makes them easier to draw with. Thank you 🙏

I love it 🥰🥰
I like listening to you, inspires me
I’m not a fan of oil pastels because they’re so messy but these actually seem completely different 😮
This makes me want to run right into the water.
Please tell me these are not like the Sennelier oil pastels, they are so soft and messy, I don't take them out of the closest. The Mungyo are still my #1 so far
I bought the original oil pastels a couple of years ago, yeah.. super messy! I created a flower.
It's called painting because the results look painterly.

Hellou
Almost convinced til I saw they are made in China. 😢
why does that stop you
Wanna be a little less racist?
Most of Paul Rubens products are made in China. I love Paul Rubens!
You will be hard pressed to find any products not made in China as companies out source the production. Even Winsor and Newton is now made in China.
I would just add that this company is a respected art supplies manufacturer. They are not creating inexpensive products to underbid the market. However, they are a young company and to build their brand it is sold at a lower cost.
