Mine struggled in straight bark, then I repotted them in 75% mushroom compost and 25% orchid mix this past spring. Now I've got 5 spikes! I'm also watering and fertilizing them much more than I was.
Bark media is a very good choice, airation is key to all orchids. Can add some broken styrofoam as well that helps. 👍stay away from potting mixes and dirt/soil , research how those orchids grow. Don’t forget to give them enough light or they won’t flower to well.
I was tempted to get an orange radicans last month, but, realistically, they grow into huge monsters, so I talked myself out of it and got an Epidendrum Centropetalum instead. Smaller and more delicate, it's pretty fun, it has a really unique growth habit.
