After this war, I‘d *really* like to know the role of informants in information gathering. Russians probably prettty easy to sell out their commanders!
The humint game is kind of tilted in favor of Ukraine, partly the result of Russkiy Mir arrogance. Perfidy and harsh treatment of prisoners is rife in the Russian military. Additionally, their nation provides nothing except negative incentives to fluency in Ukrainian language skills. Therefore, Ukraine enjoys a larger pool of interpreters and bilingual operatives, and can play more credible good cop/bad cop interrogation.
I've heard that the Ukrainians have some long time North Korean defectors along with some South Koreans who impersonate North Korean commanders via drones equipped with a loud speaker. This might just be a very funny story. This might also have something to do with numerous friendly fire incidents, making it an even funnier story. I ought to add though, I'm not sure of the truth of all of this.
Without knowing the facts: I'd be surprised if they didn't use tactics like this - It's just good craftsmenship! Asymmetrical warfare is a beeatch, and Ukraine is clearly the underdog in this fight, even with the (insufficient) support they got so far.
I'd think more plausible to do so with unsecured radio comms, but the idea is the same... Not to mention the already reported use of drones as target to make NKs shot each other...
That wouldn't surprise me. What I do know is that there are Korean speakers in Ukraine, the descendants of Koreans who moved to the soviet union. The head of one the regions is called Vitaliy Kim, and he speaks Korean fluently.
I would not doubt this although I dont think they would use drones with loudspeakers. I think more likely they would highjack radio signals. A north Korean wouldnt likely think anyone but another North Korean could speak the language thus it would be easy to impersonate a commander.
They wouldn't need drones with loudspeakers; If the Norks are using unencrypted radios for communication it would be fairly easy for the Ukrainians to misdirect them by simply using the same frequency and impersonating a commander.
I knew this would end up happening either the language barrier is just too difficult or the Russian soldiers found out that the NK soldiers were forcing Russians out of their homes to be used as human shields and are now fighting each other?
If what you say is true, where are the military gains then from Ukraine into Russia? This confuses me. Isn't it then a good time to push and conquer more land or is that not the strategic objective of Ukrainians in that area?
UAF needs more soldiers. As Poland sends more trained volunteers, who come from all over the world, and more volunteers come from other places, hopefully it will help build up the UAF. In the meantime, it's amazing how well the UAF has become so deadly and formidable. Recently, an orc blogger pointed this out and gave a scathing review of orc tactical failures.

The law simply labels them as spies and illegitimate combatants, and authorizes the opposing side to try and execute them. There are all kinds of deceptive tactics that operate in a gray area legally, that will eventually be left up to historians to criticize.

Ukraine needs to put pressure on Donetsk and Luhansk, since Russia is diverting most forces towards Kursk.
Retake the initiative.
the problem is, it's the middle of Winter, not the most Favourable season to do attacking,
UAF needs more soldiers.
Impersonation of enemy forces is recognized as unethical. However, no one gets sentenced in The Hague for it. The law simply labels them as spies and illegitimate combatants, and authorizes the opposing side to try and execute them. There are all kinds of deceptive tactics that operate in a gray area legally, that will eventually be left up to historians to criticize.

Any news from Kurakhove?
The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Since Russian officers appear to be the enemy of the North Korean troops, does that make Ukraine their ally?
No.
