$7+ per pound doesnt sound bad to me. The cheapest cut is the ground beef which walmart charges $5.49 per pound (i would never buy from there). But when you get into all the other cuts like filet mignon for $24 per pound, rib eye for $16.99, skirt steak for $13.99 and on and on. Even the oxtail which they didnt charge you for is more than that $7 average! Plus the quality. If you calculate what each of the cuts would cost at the store you would definitely be paying more for the same amount of meat at a substantially lower quality. I think you did well.
I didn’t have any confusion with your original video on this topic but this was also very helpful. I have two new 7 CF freezers ready to go with a little generator for backup power when needed, my investment in a whole wall of the mason jar sizes slowly becoming filled as I learn how to can things, loving all my growing projects and experimenting with the vacuum sealer thing, but dear Lord you’ve introduced yet another whole subject to explore with freeze drying now 😂 Blessings to your family and thanks again for your time sharing your experience with others.
@@AirborneEclipse thank you for the feedback the freeze dryer opens up a whole new way of doing things. Freeze dried zucchini, hamburger, chicken, watermelon eggs and on and on. They will last 20 years if stored properly

I understood you fully, and I'm from the UK, where it is vastly different when purchasing a whole animal. I thought what you said was pretty clear. I suppose though it just depends on what you are used to dealing with or have dealt with. You get an incredible deal! I am very jealous! 😊😊
Just watched all three videos, I thoroughly enjoyed them and I needed the advice. We’re about to take our first steer to the butcher soon, he just reached 12 months. We bottle fed him, he’s been raised with nothing but love and affection and it will be this way until the day he leaves in a trailer for processing - people adamantly told me I wouldn’t be able to eat him because I love him too much but people also don’t realize I love him this much because it’s the circle of life! It’s just like deer season, I enjoy my deer friends who come and go everyday but I’m only feeding them because one day they will be feeding me and my family, in a sense. We are new to farming, this is our first livestock farm to table experience, I was looking for advice to prepare and I found exactly that here. I just subscribed and I can’t wait to learn more in the future. Thank you!!!

My husabnd and I just purchased some land (5 acres here in Florida), and have been doing aome research on homesteading (gradening, cattle, land clearing, structure, canning, freezing, etc). You guys have been such a huge inspiration and help to my research. I will definitely be using a butcher to process my future cows, pigs, lamb, etc etc. Im so excited!!! 🤗🤗🤗

Honestly I think your beef is cheaper than you even think it is cause you’re not even taking into account if you cooked with tallow you don’t have to go to the grocery store to buy any type of cooking oil anymore so that also saves you there along with you can make turn own stock/broth another money saver. Using the whole cow saves so much other ways other than just the cut of meat that it becomes more cost effective than going to the store and buying these items individually
@@letalynnette shoulder roast is more lean chuck roast comes from shoulder and neck is more marbled higher fat content. For flavor chuck is the more desirable cut.

We like our beef dry aged! The taste is bar none! So resch out to your local farmer/processor and see if they do or can dry age.
