Mercedes Magnaflow X pipe muffler

- I've had a few different exhaust setups on the W126 Benz to find that perfect balance of comfort and sound. Previously, I went from a stock muffler to a muffler delete straight pipe. While it sounded amazing on the outside, it was a little too loud on the inside for cruising around. With this setup, I am running a Magnaflow hi flow cat, resonator delete, and Magnaflow muffler. It has a nice balance of aggressive sound without being obnoxious.

Australia here,I had a Mercedes 380 SEL with the dual exhaust pipes running into a single 4'' outlet muffler.I think the muffler itself was a truck unit,judging by the size of it ,but it had a beautiful deep V8 sound to it.Not too loud but not too quiet either.

Wonderful. That's a great sounding setup. My grey market 500 SEC has a California compliant setup and is soooo quiet. Ugh. I eventually want to replace it with something cool, like yours. Too loud is annoying. What works is having a good sound when gunning it.

Man that sounds so damn good. I’m thinking of putting some flowfx on my e550 but this has me thinking of magnaflow now as well.

Absolutely LOVE the W126 chassis Mercedes Benz and love the way the Magnaflow exhaust came out on that nice 420 SEL. My dad used to have a 1990 420 SEL with grey leather interior and I had a White 1988 560 SEL exactly like that but with the older designed interior. (interior redesign uplift in 1988-1989?) Mist solid tank like best looking Sedan ever made on planet earth. Also the G50 Q45s we're really awesome cars too

Sounds great, but if you wanted the X pipe to actually do something, you're supposed to put it upstream more for it to actually have a scavenging effect which could really help it. either way it sounds really good if thats all you were going for.

What magnaflow cat are you running? I have a 560 sel with euro tri y headers but stock exhaust and it's way to quiet. Your setup is just about perfect
I linked it in my straight pipe vid, it’s part # 94007. If you have tri y’s you’ll probably need two single in/out, instead of the one single in/dual out I’m running. I’m so jealous you were able to find a set of tri y’s, the boost in power and sound must be nice. If you keep the stock muffler, delete the kidney resonators and add the high flow cats you should have a nice drone-free set up.
@@viksvehicles I just got stupid lucky but then again, it took me a year to get the trip computer system retrofitted! But yeah I'll need a dual in dual out cat but wanted something high flow, durable. Thank you
Sounds great, do you know how I could improve the sound of my 300SE? It's a straight 6 so it will not get that growl, but do you have nay ideas?
Equal length 6 into 1 headers, high flow cats and an open style muffler like the magnaflow ones. Should be nice and loud but not obnoxious.

did you remove the middle muffler? or the w126 does not have? I have a w124 and it has an intermediate silencer.

@@Uc9uE3pKsS6uQ I got it done for under $2k CAD it is THUNDER! It opened up what seems to be a significant amount of power. More performance doesn’t only mean muscle but also efficiency. I kept the upstream cat and o2 sensor in place in variance to this original post. I’d have to calculate it all, but went from 350kms per tank to almost 450. (I drive hard and still do smoke shows at 50) It cruises up to 200km/h no problem. It’s louder with a distinct low growl under demand, but purrs beautifully at highway cruising speed. My Uncle Benz sounds more like a brutha now and everyone loves it. ✌🏼

Man this is a sweet growl! If I go to an exhaust shop and want exactly this sound, all I take is that magnaflow muffler? Or do I have to get them to change up something about the stock pipes? I have a 87 420.

Question about your wheels. Are they Performas? and what tire size are you running width and diameter?
Yes they are 17” Performas. I ran tire size 225/45 up front and 255/40 rear. In the rear I was also running 15mm spacers to avoid any rubbing with the inner fender well.

The OEM cats were removed, there is a Magnaflow cat and a Magnaflow muffler in place

Are the kidney mufflers still in?
Kidney mufflers are removed and stock cat has been replaced with a magnaflow cat
