I had the 85 model. Also got mine in the mid 90s. For $1000. I drove it to 275,000 miles and then sold it when the transmission failed. That was one hell of a car. My favorite. I've owned 2 different 280Zs and I can honestly say I actually enjoyed the Pulsar more for some indescribable reason. Although the E16 engine was solid, the only sore point for me was the carburetor. I did have pains with that from time to time but I think maybe it's related to the fact that we have ethanol gas now and the carb wasn't made for that. These are pretty reliable cars, are extremely fuel efficient and get around in snow with ease. They aren't fast but they weigh so little it doesn't matter. I once had a stuck thermostat that caused the engine to overheat. Instead of leaving on the side of the road and getting a tow a friend and I just started pushing it and we were able to run along side it all the way home. Two people can literally run this lightweight go kart. It's shame cars like this will never be made again. I'd buy another in heartbeat. FWD econo coupes were a great segment of the auto industry and the NX was a prime example of that market. If anyone out there is buying one today and reads this the biggest things you need to look out for are the rust that can build up in the rear shock towers and the cv joints being worn out because the rubber boots split from age and loses all the grease. There's also the fact that the E16S is an interference engine so if you buy one I'd swap the timing belt immediately. Don't let the belt break. It's going to be hard to get parts though. This car shared nearly all the same parts as the Sentra so for decades parts were easy to get but now they're going to be hard to find. Nissan still makes the Sentra so I wish they just take the new Sentra and swap different body panels on it to make a new Pulsar. However they'd likely put one of their awful CVTs in it and ruin the whole thing.
66 GTO. Very cool. Thanks for sharing. When I read comments like yours, it makes it easier to enjoy my old car. It was my first one after all. Glad I still have it. Thanks again for the comment, it means a lot!!!
Howdy! Your car is awesome, I purchased a red 1984 Pulsar this summer. I plan on restoring it to its original look and take it to some local shows. It has 135k miles and I just had the transmission rebuilt. Your spoiler looks like it was meant for the vehicles original look. Maybe I will look into it as well, thanks for the video, glad I found this!
Hello what a great looking car! I also have one mine is a 85' gray and black. I inherited this nissan from my mother years ago, it was in storage for 5 years without being started or driven until lately but i have gotten it up and running again pretty good. I have noticed that at times my back left wheel will lock up at times and im unsure on why. The emergency brake releases without and issues but for some reason the left drum will not turn even when not applying brakes. In your years of owning your pulsar have you ever experienced this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciate. I love the little car and really want to keep it around.
They really are fun little cars! No, unfortunately, I've never run into that brake issue. It is not a complex system though. Anyone who knows anything about brakes should be able to tell you why this is happening. I hope you figure it out and get to enjoy you Pulsar on the road. I haven't seen another one for a LONG time! Thanks for the comment!!!

Maybe want to check the wheel bearing. They're super easy to replace if needed.
