    Sourdough Cinnamon Roll Apple Bake
    Apple Topping
3 Granny Smith apples, peeled and chopped
    ¾ cup water
    1 stick butter
1 cup packed light brown sugar
    3 shakes cinnamon
    ½ cup cold water
    2 tablespoons cornstarch
Add the apples to a pot with the water and butter. Cook over medium-high heat until it comes to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and stir in the brown sugar and cinnamon and continue to cook until the apples are tender. In a small bowl, mix together the cold water and cornstarch. Add to the apples and bring to a boil. Stir until thickened.

    3 cups sourdough starter
    1 pkg dry yeast
    3 tablespoons sugar
    1 teaspoon salt
    2 tablespoons baking powder
    3 tablespoons vegetable oil
    2 ½ - 3 cups all-purpose flour
    1 stick butter, melted (divided)
    sugar, to taste
    brown sugar, to taste
    cinnamon, to taste
In a bowl, whisk together the starter, yeast and sugar. Let set a couple minutes. Whisk in the salt, baking powder and oil.
Stir in the flour until it is a soft dough, but not sticky to the touch. You may need to adjust the flour amount.
Generously flour the surface and knead the dough just slightly to remove any stickiness. Roll out to about ¼-inch thick rectangle. Pour ½ stick of the melted butter and spread on top. Sprinkle with sugar, brown sugar and cinnamon.
Starting at the long side, tightly roll up the dough. Cut into about 1-inch thick pieces.
Pour the remaining ½ stick of butter in the bottom of a 12-inch Dutch oven or 11x13-inch casserole dish. Evenly place the rolls on the bottom.
Pour the apple mixture over top. Cook with coals or in the oven at about 350 degrees for about 30 minutes in the middle rack or until golden brown.

Kent, we made your sourdough cinnamon rolls this morning for Palm Sunday. And the stones did not have to cry out, because I was shoutin' Hallelujah all the way to the kitchen sink!

Hey Kent, thanks and will be making this one! Thanks so much for your shout out to the veterans. My wife is a disabled vet and appreciate the shout out. Idea: do a show on "what food do deployed military miss the most when away from home"? Shoot a show with a few military people and have them cook a MRE for you, and you cook what they miss the most. Thanks again and looking forward to many more videos. ALSO love the outtakes at the end. I can't imagine trying to film a cooking video, making sure you show all the steps, you can be heard clearly, and having fun at the same time! Then, the editing! Great job Shannon.

Ive noticed some people is apple cube folks and some folks is apple slice folk. My momma always did slices she did and and woo them apples always cooked down nice n tender. I find that the cubes can bake unevenly, with some being too firm. I showed this video to my momma and she thinks she will try it so i thank ya for the inspiration

@@CowboyKentRollins Thank you for not using store bought cinammon rolls. There was an Ohio farmer...went to feed his hogs and never came back. He had a stroke or heart attack, but was so chewed up by the hogs, only his glasses, dentures and hat were found. The hogs ate him. The lesson of this story: if he hadn't fed his hogs meat, they wouldn't have the taste of meat in theitr system. By the way, our dog's a butter thief because you feed him people food and he has the tatse...why else would he like butter enough to steal it?

I had a great aunt that cooked this very recipe in a Dutch oven, inside her kitchen oven for years! So it works pretty good that way as well!
Oh, and yes, she cooked over a outdoor fire as well! Although, due to the fact, she was originally from Michigan. Which when asked why she didn't cook outdoors with her Dutch oven, she would always point out, just because I am from someplace cold doesn't mean, I want to be out in the cold. Referring to the fact it was Thanksgiving, or Christmas, when it would be extremely cold living next to the waters of lake Hudson near Salina, Oklahoma!
Because, at one time it did get cold and snowed pretty regularly in Northeast Oklahoma!
And before you all go picking on this part of the state, just keep in mind, the Tulsa area is where Will Rogers stated we hide our millionaires.

Cowboy Kent Rollins Oh, you have been to Claremore, well that is where I was born, and lived for a long time.
Although, I am surprised that you haven't done anything with the Will Rogers Stampede Rodeo, that happens on Memorial Day weekend! Or even the Blue grass and chilli Festival in September!

I added a bit more cinnamon since I like it on the slightly heavier side. It was all well enjoyed Thanksgiving morning and for a couple of mornings afterwards. Man that looks like a whole batch of awesome right there! Surprised the beagle didn’t get him some of that ! This sourdough Apple cinnamon bake is my favorite! Ole Frank getting himself some butter will make him greasy no doubt!

Frank was eyeing that butter all the way through. Some of these sourdough starters are years and years old.

Yeah, stationed up in Alaska, ulu knives were everywhere. Simple and work well. The Inuits used them for a long time.
