    Ev charge is way cheaper than gas. Tesla full charge is under $20, usually less than $10. Tank of premium is well over $100 right now. Teslas are expensive up front, but cheaper overall, with nearly zero maintenance.

      LOL okay buddy, WTF do you drive? and where do you live, it cost me 40$ to fill up my Veloster N with premium. And Teslas are far from zero maintenace, the brakes alone not only wear down faster than a normal car they cost 4x more. The tires wear faster due to the cars excessive weight, The lifespan of an EV battery is the same as a car engine with 4x the cost to replace. Oh and you cant even do any maintenance on a tesla, you HAVE to have tesla do it. No thanks, shitty company renting you a product you dont even have the right to work on...while telling you that you own it.

    @Fanhots, natural gas vehicles are cheaper than electrical vehicles by a factor of 2-3 times cheaper comparatively

  • @DanKrishtal

    Some math from where i live:
    1 kWh of electricity costs 6,17 rubles
    1 liter of gasoline costs ~50 rubles
    1 liter of gasoline contains ~9,5 kWh energy in it, so
    1 kWh of energy, produced by burning gasoline, costs 50/9,5 = 5,26 rubles/kWh
    So, 5,26 rubles per gasoline kWh < 6,17 rubles per electricity kWh
    BUT internal combustion engines have very low efficiency (lower than 30%), so we must multiply 5,26 by 3 or 4, and after that gasoline becomes much more expensive source of energy

      The primary issue we have here in the states is capability on a mass scale. Right now, today, we frankly do not have the infrastructure with our power grid to support everyone having electric cars. Here in Texas, they do rolling blackouts NOW on our power grid in summer months just from people running their air conditioning because the power grid gets strained. Forgetting the cost of gas vs electricity, if the government and power companies don’t do something about the grid infrastructure, electric cars on any sort of grand scale just can’t happen.

    Electricity in Czechia is more expensive if you are one of cca 150 000 people that had their distributors annouce bankrupcy, then you pay 5x-15x times more than normal, add that electricity went up by cca 50% for all. If you are one of the unfortunate and got at least 9x times more expensive electricity, it is no longer worth to have EV car.
    And ecology is debatable, in Poland it is more ecological to have gas car (normal car, not some gas gulping monster), because you charge EV with electricity from coal. France has a lot of nuclear plants so it is way more ecological to have EV car there. Germany is stupid and are opening coal plants to replace nuclear plants they are closing this year (they wanted to replace it with gas from Russia, that did not go well).

    electricity is cheaper than gas for now, but you also need to consider that even for a cheap EV the cost to replace a battery is 10-15K, and the average life of a battery is way less than the average life of an engine, and if you are driving a run of the mill car an engine is 3-4K, so you better be banking that money saved on gas to replace your battery. Unless you want to play new car roulette, which is less efficient with electric cars, they dont hold value because nobody wants that used battery.

    Electricity is made roughly the same way gas is for cars except worse in a lot of ways because many places still use coal power even in the US. @@MdRidd1 Sorry I should ammend my statement lithium can be recycled it just isn't. A simple Google search would give you that answer but ill provide it for you anyways.
      The Journal of the Indian Institute of Science found that less than 1 percent of Lithium-ion batteries get recycled in the US and EU compared to 99 percent of lead-acid batteries, which are most often used in gas vehicles and power grids. According to the study, recycling challenges range from the constantly evolving battery technology to costly shipping of dangerous materials to inadequate government regulation.

    • @matt-xe5km
      @matt-xe5km 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MdRidd1 umm no that's fake news. After the production of the ev it is cleaner but it's production process and the studies that have gone into it dont include the mining and refining of nickel. Again a quick Google search would give you that answer but ill provide it for you anyways.
      Typically, it takes 25 to 30 tons of coal to produce a single ton of nickel. When all the CO2 emissions are counted, smelting and refining laterite nickel releases nearly 90 tons of CO2 for every ton of nickel produced. That means an average electric vehicle with a 50 kg battery, 4 tons of CO2 were released during its production.
      And that's just for the production of the battery. BTW that amounts for an entire years worth of a gas cars emissions and some teslas like the cyber truck will have a 250 watt battery pack. So just for tesla to produce 1 battery for the cyber truck they will be emitting 5 years worth of carbon emissions of a car into the atmosphere. You also are not accounting for the COAL MINES PRODUCING THE ELECTRICTY YOUR USING IN YOUR CAR. It takes fossil fuels to make the electricity your using. This really isn't that complicated. I look forward to your apology

      @@localman7017 he was hyperbolic, but partially correct on some things. Electric vehicles ARE more expensive, both in up front purchase cost and in yearly licensing and taxing fees.
      Also, electricity itself is 95%+ produced from coal, oil, and gas. The only reason gas at the pump is so expensive right now is because of market manipulation, not because it’s less efficient than “electricity”.
      Electric cars are also not “green” by any stretch, producing the batteries and transporting them produces as much or more “pollution” and “carbon” than most gas vehicles produce in a decade.
      None of this is to say “green” energy is a terrible idea, but the best options are nuclear (most of the drawbacks of nuclear are bullshit propaganda with no truth behind them) and magnetic energy (which the government has buried).
      Solar and wind energy are over hyped and impossible to scale to meet energy demands or even come close to meeting energy demands.

Now in the Midwest I would never consider getting an EV for the towing and problems starting the engine in severe winter and stuff… It’s not an “EVs are evil and they should all be banned” or “EVs are the best and anybody who doesn’t want/endorse one is stupid” kind of question. They are not good enough to replace gasoline cars yet but they are still very good in many scenarios…

    • @coolguy48457

      EV's are only part of the future, they will never be well suited for all locations, they take an abundance of rare earth minerals that suffer the same limited supply/replenishment issues as fossil fuels. We dont even have a fraction of the energy grid needed to support hundreds of millions of electric vehicles, and the only cheap way to supply that electricity in the future is fossil fuels, the day we have a grid thats 100% clean energy is the day that your electric bill is higher than your rent.

      I'm pretty sure a decent refrigerator takes in 100w when the compressor is on. I think the compressor is on a third of the time. I might be wrong with numbers but I found fridges are low energy appliances. In comparison a kettle when on is 2000w odd or 2kw. Correct me if I'm wrong.

    • @FanHOTS
      @FanHOTS  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah my chat linked the video later I saw it. I think he compared peak charging rates of the car to the rate of your fridge running normally which is mindblowingly misleading. You're charging something for a brief period of time of course its more energy intensive than running a low energy appliance on 24/7.
      TLDR my response was this is why I dislike politicians, they go after some intentional flashy half truth claim like "charging car same as running 25 fridges" while ignoring the main point, which is that amount still costs you far less $ than filling up your gas tank and is better for the environment.

Cause those parts of the power grid run on wind turbines and they froze over in the cold temperatures rendering millions of people without power. People say "we need green energy" and rush to wind and solar when it's the worst option, if people wanted a truly green energy source we should be looking into nuclear.
