Yes, the prow of the mountain range is El Capitan, and Guadalupe Peak is right behind it--the tallest mountain in Texas. The mountains are about a thousand feet taller from the west towards El Paso, so come this way and look back on that future trip to Arizona. What a great intro music choice, Adam! Perfect mood. I've hiked to the top of Guadalupe Peak and camped in the campground several times. One hike took us about six hours to get to the summit from the campground, and we arrived to the top just as a summer thunderstorm popped up against the mountains. We made it back down in 75 minutes, exhausted and stumbling, just as the lightning and hail started. We drove on to White's City that evening, and collapsed in a hotel room. That was an awesome trip. I've made many of the big hikes in this park, but never made it to Frijole Ranch. You guys are making me feel the need for a big trip out west. You ae right that Guadalupe Mountains NP is a hiker's park and so remote that lots of tourists pass it by. But you didn't!

After seeing your footage of the Frijole Ranch, I had to go look up its history. Fascinating stuff how a native of the area ran the ranch and protected it. I'm going to have to read more on how the national park was established. Thanks for bringing the park to your audience.

You both are so special. I really enjoy your videos. Your smiles are contagious. I volunteer at a National wildlife refuge in their visitor center. I love meeting visitors to our Refuge from all over the world. Maybe you will someday visit Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in Maryland. I even got my husband hooked on watching your videos.

That mountain top there is also the highest point in Texas.8751 ft. elevation. Last time I went through there was 1997. on my way from El paso to Carlsbad to pick up a load of Potash to take back to Colorado.

btw Abby is right: See the bats. It is a once in a lifetime. I saw it in the 1960s. uh Wow! btw it is Guada loopPAY.
Water is life in the South West. There is a old movie. when you get home see it: The Milagro Beanfield War. 1980s but it speaks of the water rights in the SW.

All of far west Texas observes mountain time, by the way, including El Paso. But remember that El Paso is farther west than Albuquerque. Enjoy your beer and pizza!

I haven’t even watched the video yet and I am already commenting. Our plan for the Fall road trip is to do Carlsbad and Guadalupe on the same day since we will not be doing any hiking. Seeing that you guys did both parks on the same day makes me happy about that part of our plan.

Be sure to get reservations at Carlsbad. We were there two weeks ago, and no tours were available.

If you know what day you’ll be at Carlsbad make your reservations for the time you want to take the tour. If you don’t I doubt you’ll get in. Once you finish the caverns then take the drive down to Guadalupe. 👍🏻

    • @anikindall

@@AbomAdventures it is too far in advance at this point. Currently reservations have not even been released for May. Our trip will be this Fall. I will keep checking every month in case they make reservations available earlier. I thought it was 3 months but when I just checked it wasn’t. Anyway I am making reservations for everything that needs reservations. I am a huge planner.

Ok I'm from West Virginia. I wondering why they even put curves in the road in the opening part of the video. It's flat no need for curves.

Subtle speed control. It also shows the country side better. Some roads are like arrows but when the sun is in that line you are blinded for hours.
