    Landscape photography is about light and location. Light can be found anywhere, but finding a good location for your photos can be really tricky. Especially now when there are just so many different photographers out there exploring. It's harder and harder to find new locations.
    So, on today's vlog, we headed out to a couple places here in Northern Arizona and Utah to attempt to find some new compositions and locations.
    The photo spots we visited on today's video were: Alstrom Point, Toadstool Hoodoos, and White Pocket.

    Chasing that pink light, I live in the desert of California and we had some snow in the mountains and it was lighting up a peak near me I waited and waited for that orange-pink light never came and as soon I got in the car there it is.
    Yucca ,well I live near Yucca Valley CA and its pronounced like yukka

      Yes it is, oh I finally moved out of the city, mountains are much better looking than skyscrapers. 😁
      Arizona is nice, we are looking to get a small vacation home or mobile home in the Phoenix area.

    5:56 Incorrect, that’s a yucca plant (pronounced yuh-kuh), it is an ornamental plant common in Southern and Western US, the yuca root or cassava (pronounced yoo-kuh) on the other hand is native to South America and heavily consumed in the tropics

    Question: How do you know when you've made it? Answer: When a tripod company names their new tripod after you! After all, isn't "Brendan" a much better name than "Winston". Oh, maybe they are in England?

    I have lived in Arizona most of my life, but you really blew my mind this morning with your pronunciation of "Yucca." " Yuca - pronounced yoo-cuh - is the root portion of the plant. ... Yucca, on the other hand, is an ornamental plant: They are those spiky flowered plants common in Southern and Western parts of the US, including Florida, New Mexico, and California. But they don't have the edible root of the yuca, and are commonly confused." Brendon I really enjoy your work!

    That was great, it looks like an interesting area to visit in the off season. Thanks for putting the video together. How are you finding the GoPro Max, or more specifically the 360-camera experience.? I’m planning to make some hiking videos this summer an I’m currently sitting on the fence on using a 360 camera for image stabilization and to allow re-framing but I’m worried about picture quality. Your thoughts on this would be appreciated.

    • @BrendanvanSon
      @BrendanvanSon  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 360 is good. But it struggles with exposure in places like the car. But, overall, the quality is ok. And it's fun.

    I love the Southwest...enjoyed this video and looking forward to the rest in this series. Regarding pronunciation (I'm no expert), a quick search came up with this tidbit: Yuca - pronounced yoo-cuh - is the root portion of the plant. ... Yucca, on the other hand, is an ornamental plant: They are those spiky flowered plants common in Southern and Western parts of the US, including Florida, New Mexico, and California. But they don't have the edible root of the yuca, and are commonly confused

    • @M.Campbell
      @M.Campbell 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is. Yuca is a Cassava plant found in South America and parts of Mexico. Even if it were the same plant the English pronunciation is Yucca, those plants are in the U.S. and he's speaking English, so it's Yucca. When in Rome... I think somebody is messing with the Canadian tourist. ;-)

    I'm excited to hear what you think of the 3 Legged Thing Winston 2.0. I'm in need of a new tripod. I've been with Manfrotto since college and might want to try a different brand. After my last shoot I realized I need more height. Looks like this can go to can go to 72.9". That should do the trick:)

    • @garthfuchs
      @garthfuchs 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brendan van Son I overcame the L-bracket shortfall by integrating the use of a quick release bracket from Kirk enterprises...this allows for a quick rotation of the plate from horizontal to vertical ^ orientation without any issues.. www.kirkphoto.com/quick-release-clamps/quick-release-bridge-system-for-the-manfrotto-mvh-500-fluid-video-head.html
